My Country

It's a big month for The Challenge with the theme being "From Your Country".

It was SO much fun to watch things coming in. Who knew where folks were from? Not "I".

I will have more to show you in upcoming posts but for now, here's the news.

From CLEO DESIGN (including top photo) a huge variety of items from TURKEY!   Now I have never been to Turkey but I had some close adventurous friends that visited a few decades ago and absolutely loved it. Some of these items will make it into the Marrakesh area of MOSP. Well they are neighbors of sorts and it seems to work *wink*.

These items are from Sway's. A tiny little half timbered summerhouse and a great fence set with tons of choices perfect for many styles of homes.

Details, we love 'em. These decorative plates are from Kuro.

The Arcade for March 2014

Heads up you Gatcha addicts -- new stuff is on the horizon at The Arcade.  Silly me! You KNEW that didn't ya?

Such a lovely photo. Light and shadow and while this looks like I used a grayscale filter, I did not.

In this post goodness from Second Spaces for The Arcade. Elle Kirshner has definitely made Queen status in the "all in the details" category. Oh, maybe that is more of an Academy Awards thing. Anyway, great stuff is on the coming your way.

The theme is bathroom and of course the items are all very low prim as well as being chocked full of details. I am on public record as not being a gatcha gal, but this one would work for me. My personal rule is that if you would be happy with ANY of the prizes, it is a good gatcha. Now I KNOW that is not the point for many, but hey -- we all have our quirks.

So get ready to fight for a spot on the sim and then go out to coffee while things rez -- well maybe breakfast or lunch. I know you will have a STUPENDOUS time. That's what counts.

No hair or pose was used in the making of this post *wink*.

Books

Are you a bookworm?

As a child -- say 10  or 12 I devoured books. Two a day. Throughout life I have read for pleasure. Now I seldom read.

Which do you prefer: hardcover, paperback or electronic?

Hardcover. I don't do electronic. Paperbacks from the library are often past their prime by the time I see them.

Which book is your favorite?

The one novel that I own is an obscure book called The Bellwether.  I have read it several times. A friend who happened to own sheep bought a dozen copies of it and sent to friends. The book has very little to do with wooly animals and more to do with marching to your own drummer.

Which children’s book is your favorite?

I read all (and I do mean all) the OZ books. My great grandmother and I would lie in our twin beds. She would read one chapter; I would read the next. And so it was.

What’s the last book you’ve read?

I think it was rereading The Night Circus OR Ender's Game. Not sure.

Name your top five favorite writers:

I honestly don't remember many writer's names. I like Dan Brown and I read a LOT of sci-fi classics in my youth like Ray Bradberry.

Name a book that had a strong impact on you:

The Night Circus (see link above)

Favorite & least favorite book genres?

I pretty much like everything, it all depends on the quality of the writing. Not too big on historical novels.

Do you go to the library?

I certainly HAVE in the past read through whole small libraries (one in Barbados, one in New Mexico). These days  -- the last few years honestly -- I can't seem to find much WORTH reading. Most things (for me) being published are saying the same things we have read before and not all that well.

How many books do you own?

I am not a collector. A decade ago I sold or gave away most of my books. I kept ONE of each genre (novel, cook book, astrology, tarot, feng shui etc.) They all fit in a few inches in a tiny crate. So maybe a dozen.

If you were to write a book about Second Life, which topic would you focus on?

It would definitely have something to do with virtual creativity *wink*.

Space Walk

I really love jumpsuits. They were a staple in my wardrobe long ago.  This is the AA27 Intuition jumpsuit from Armory. Find the big poster to the left as you enter the store. A central landing point here, so no direct TP -- but you need that walk anyway.

Very pretty, it comes with a thin silver chain belt. The alpha layer is sans feet so its either boots or barefoot; I choose the latter.

A new pose set is out from Diesel Works, Vixen. Modeling poses are mixed in with more avant guarde for a nicely rounded collection.

A shimmery top area of the outfit adds sophistication. A great clubbing outfit with no worries about sitting in between dances *wink*.

Bloomers. I've been wanting mesh bloomers for a VERY long time.

And they are here! This SLX outfit is called Bloom and comes with jewelry as well as heels. Lots of great goodness for mixin' and matchin'.  There is a color change hud for the bra and "socks" which didn't make it into this shot.

My Steamy mini topper hales from Senzafine, the "Memento Mori" Mini Top Hat - Noir.

My backdrop is my Steampunk Observation Floater which I have enlarged by the power of four to fit into my lottery won spot at the

There will be some art mixed in and yes, amazingly I actually plan to upload a handful of textures :D. So -- you will want to be on hand for that!

I will be keeping you informed as the event unfolds. It sound like great fun with an unusual theme. Hot air balloons fit in predominantly.

Spread the Love - Guys

Happily there is something for the guys at the Spread the Love gatcha event for PFLAG.

[SL GROW] PRIDE HOODIE is rigged exceptionally well and nicely textured. It is roomy size wise so fellows that may sometimes not have a large enough size may have better options here. A demo is available onsite.

This is a great set from Follow Us. The reporter desk and accouterments are vintage but not so far back that it is history book stuff.  The set includes, desk with TONS of goodies (mesh and low land impact), cabinet with old phone and "Mr. Coffee", paper rack and coat rack with sweatshirt.

Final Fantasy Last Hurrah

The Final Fantasy Festival is almost over. You have maybe two days to get over there if you have been busy. So many creative items to be had; it is a wonder. A late to the party outfit came in a few days ago. Happily I had an empty slot in the blog post line up. But, before we get there, Nikky news from MINA.

I am very much in love with this hair. It may be my favorite MINA "do". Many of you love long flowing tresses and that is cool, but give me some slightly messy locks and I am a happy gal. You can find two color packs (one black and white and one "essentials") at The Dressing Room Fusion. Get there lickety split; you have a bit more than a week.

This outfit is Gabriel from + Legacy Cain + @ the Final Fantasy Festival. With such a wingspan it is a little hard to see so click that photo for a bigger shot.

Beautifully rendered it comes in a variety of colors. The skirt (or girdle or whatever) fits me perfectly. I should warn you that it pretty much naked in the back so bravery is required. *wink* Billed as Steampunk, it could also go into Post Apoco territory.

Romance

By the time you read this Valentine's Day will be a memory. I hope yours was a special one. But even though the Official Day of Love has passed, there is plenty of reason to treat yourself.

The Timeless Romance Gacha event is going on at L'accessoires.  Three times ten plus some machines for your gambling pleasure. The love clock is a rare item from Atelier Visconti. There is also a very pretty set of pitchers and roses in the same machine.

Staying with the theme, BAIASTICE has released a collection of lingerie.  Choose from several styles including babydoll.

My hair is Pixivor from Vanity Hair.

Bright Sun

Out for COLLABOR88 -- and happily color matching.

Danika dress and Lunar Ankle Boots from BAIASTICE. Lovely detailing, both come in tons of colors. I picked the brightest!

Supernova Shelves from Second Spaces. So cute! I keep thinking of very vintage Sci Fi comedy TV. There are two sets with two colors each, one shelf with three layers, one with four.

Another COLLABOR88 release from Second Spaces, this Supernova Console Table is one of a color pack of four. All items (and there are some that didn't get in this post) are super low land impact of course!

I am Lov-ing these new glasses from Arisaris, Charismatic Sunglasses Stupensous. Part of a big new release which includes glasses for guys as well, these come with an easy to use visual hud that let you pick frame color, lens color and metal detail color. I SO feel like a movie star - woot!

Wings

One last post for the Final Fantasy Festival. I couldn't NOT show you these gorgeous wings.

Now I don't WEAR wings, but if I did, these would be winners. The come in various textures from delicate to patterned. The black version was the most me -- such a contrast hound.  Look for *Tentacio* Strampunk wings at the venue.

Contrasts

So many events it is difficult to keep up. So running a little late but with super stuff for show and tell I give you:

* Nova Chairs from Trompe Loeil for COLLABOR88. In both brights and neutrals, these sleek numbers even have floor protector pads built in. So NO floor scuffing! Both Adult and PG versions are available.

*This is my favorite spot in the new Wavebreaker beach house (also Trompe Loeil). It features gorgeous wood finishes and an open plan.

Two sizes are available with this being the smallest at 93 land impact. Still plenty roomy for a single or a couple with the open beams and loft giving a feeling of vastness. You'll want a view of course!

This striking dress is from [Gang/Cold] for the Final Fantasy Festival. You will look as good walking away as striding forth :D.

1 Billion Rising

This is a come as you are post. Me on my building pad (happily neater since I have spent the morning with inventory chores) in what I was wearing (OK I changed from the YELLOW boots to keep with an analogous palette).

From the notecard:

One Billion Rising for Justice in Second Life will be held ALL DAY FRIDAY 14th FEBRUARY

On February 14, 2013, for 24 hours starting at midnight Pacific Standard Time, Second Life residents will join with activists around the world in a spectacular 24-hour event for ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE, a very special day of action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.

The Second Life event will feature a four-region stage where 200 people can dance together, surrounded by an area of art installations, poetry events and informational exhibits.

A variety of performers will play and perform over the 24-hour period, enabling people all over the world to attend this virtual event no matter their timezone.

The regions will have a General maturity rating to allow all residents an opportunity to participate.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness, not to raise funds; however, information about real-world organizations will be available for those wishing to donate.
We have special One Billion Rising goodies for you - including tee-shirts and jackets for women (made by Liv-Glam) tee shirts for men (made by Styles by Kira), and adorable teddy bears (made by Sway Dench of Sway’s).

There are lots of places to pick these up. Here is the top on the list. They will also be available at the event.
