It's Arcade Time

It is almost September and that means a new round of The Arcade!  While I am not a gambler at heart, last round I discovered the garage sales which I definitely enjoy so feel free to crank that handle as much as you want. I may be waiting to buy your extras!

With lots of great things coming your way, this is my sneak peak at the event. I have no idea what the official theme is or even if there is a theme, but it seems to have a retro vibe from the things I have seen so far.

Hence I dressed up in a very vintage swimsuit, just out from 20.Five, the Beau Bikini set (which by the way coordinates with the other new swimwear). Color choices by hud of course.

The star of this Arcade preview is the {theosophy} For Future Reference set. The machines are so inventive and fun, making me smile big time after a difficult day pounding on my computer. The Zultor's Wisdom booth gives fortunes you wear on your screen to see. There is appropriate music and flashing red eyes. You can almost hear the carnival or boardwalk in the background.

The testers also play music with lights flashing through the choices and  -- finally, landing on "the answer" :D. Really you need to see these.

Now as much as I LOVED LOVED LOVED these, I couldn't really think where I could put them (chuckle). I finally decided that they would be appropriate discarded clutter in the alleyway next to the warehouse gym. When I was processing this photo I hit the vibrancy slider a bit too far and ended up with black and white -- which seemed, PERFECT.

If you just can't wait until you make it into the event, feel free to come by and play (and take some photos of course). Here is the spot.

Color Me Smiling

In need of a smile? Well I am!

Too many computer issues (thank you Windows Update!).

THIS however cheers me up; a sneak peak at The Challenge item for August (the last day of the month is always the unveiling) from [Black Tulip].  Mix and match and move or use the linked verion (5LI) shown here. The theme for the upcoming event is COLORFUL. I am guessing you could figure that out.

Well, it might have been "cats" :D.

A Blue Break

A quick post with two new releases from 20.FIVE. The top is part of the Ruftie bikini set; the pants are called Jude. Both come with color change hud for personalizing.

That's it for this morning.

Smooth sailing. It is a lovely day.

Out and About

I have been feeling a little cooped up lately so some adventure was on the agenda. I wandered through the destination guide and picked out Silver Lake, a quaint little village with pretty vistas.

My new outfit is courtesy of ArisAris, one of three in a new release, this is the AA55 Renascence Dress.  Shoes also from ArisAris.

My necklace is the 22769 ~ Cubic Necklace Silver available at [la metallique fair [08.15 - 09.08] - L'accessoires].

Night Music

Another sizzling release from 20.FIVE, the Sinas Dress (runs small) is perfect for strutting your stuff. A color hud let's you change with your mood; mine was dark *wink*.

In the background sits a lovely grand piano from 22769 ~ [bauwerk]. The Concert Grand Black comes open as shown as well as a closed version. There are both photo animations and playing animations in the bench.

Another piece in the Decadence is Bliss release set is this violin and case (sheet music and old gift from {what next}). It definitely sets the mood.

Darkness and light mix in this console set. Stop by the store and check out all the goodness I didn't have room to show you!

And for those of you in the Love To Decorate group, there is a very nice gift set of floor decor which includes a draped etching. The presents coordinate nicely with the new products.

I Got Dressed

And I look damn good.

20.FIVE has a ton of great new releases for your buying pleasure. This one caught my eye first :D.

But as I was putting this outfit together I noted that getting dressed isn't all that easy these days. Some impressive new releases went into this post and one older favorite, but it wasn't quick and I am glad I am not NEW.

Every single item I am wearing has a hud -- even my mesh hands if you count changing fingernails. Back in the old days our biggest challenge was to have enough layers of an outfit so we could stack a texture sweater over a texture corset and be able to tuck it into our pants which couldn't be skinny ones as those were on an underwear layer and you can't tuck in there (OMG).

Now part of the reason I am remembering this is that I have been over at a new Open Sim grid this last week making --- wait for it -- TEXTURE CLOTHES.

Yes, I am laughing too. But on this grid while there is mesh clothing (one shop) it is the same that I have seen on the other grids and I wanted to be unique. Some of you may remember that long ago and far away I had a small clothing shop in SL. It did fairly well being geared toward the thrifty. I never considered myself all that great a dressmaker (in real life I did that for awhile and I was MUCH better with sewing machine than graphics program).

I have been a very busy girl over at Virtual Paradise (population most likely under a hundred). I made some stellar (for me) loafers and yesterday (ALL DAY) I made these overalls. I wanted overalls. I like them. I feel comfy in them and if you have viewed this blog over time you know that I wear them often.

Amazingly I am MUCH better with pixel stitching than I was those many years ago. Partly this is due to Blender and the Bezier Curve part of the program that I had to tackle in order to get some things accomplished.

So I am going to show off a little now and you have to PROMISE not to laugh because I am very proud of what I accomplished and I love my new denim wear (the sweater was a previous project and those stripes MATCH at the seems I want ya to know).

Jewelry and pose also by me. Hair by Damselfly (TY!) Skin a group gift.

When you are a pioneer, you have to be resourceful. You also learn a lot.

I wrote a post on one of my other blogs about grid hopping should you be interested. It is one of those philosophical articles  that I sometime share.

An Arty Neighborhood

Plans sometimes get put on hold. Other things get in the way, take precedence. I had been planning on making an artist area in the top tower of the Trompe Loeil Villas. The idea was there, but I needed a nudge.

Out for The Neighborhood on SUNDAY, this great artist's cabinet from Cheeky Pea.   That was all I needed to get me on a roll. I combed my inventory for other arty items. Some, sadly had been lost to the database fairy ( I really think "fairy" is too nice a term for the entity that loses our stuff, maybe devil is more appropriate) but some things were still in evidence.

A little of this, a little of that, some shopping and some searching on the marketplace. I was looking for painter accessories (alas some of the missing items) but didn't find what I was after. Then -----

On close inspection and looking at the land impact in the edit window (7) I surmised that the "stuff" inside the cabinet was likely unlinkable. And ya know what? It was. So I now have a lovely can of brushes up top as well as in the cabinet :D. That works.

Sunday is the day. Don't miss out.

The Subtle Light

No shadows today as the last server codes seem to conflict with my graphics card (only in SL  - hence I am blaming the codes). And you know what? It is letting me appreciate how glorious things can be without them.

Shades of Green

It is a gorgeous late summer morning, both inworld and outworld (is that at term?).

Out for COLLABOR 88 from ISON, the divine dress in many lovely colors; amazingly I picked the brightest! A great jacket and detailed corset make up the trio of newness.

I made a quick trip over to the venue. Long after the opening bell days, it is still crowded.

There is plenty to see with many extra designers this round. A couple of folks had empty stalls, but shopping goodness abounds.

A big box of goodies came my way Wednesday morn, lots and lots of beautifully made and nicely presented glasses. I chose one of the retro styles for this pairing as the ISON dress which I was already wearing had a bit of Deco falvor -- for me at least.

These come with an easy to use, visual hud and there are many, many shapes and styles so there is bound to be something that fits your personality.

Some are unisex.

The maker? Well good little slueths will see from the photo it is Meva.

There are so many lovely things on the grid these days; we are very spoiled!

Let's enjoy that part of the equation.

Venues Venues

Second Life goes through marketing fads, anyone around for a long time can see the signs. When I was a babe grid wide hunts were the new thing. Then, back in 2007, if you got in the Vain hunt it was a big deal. The big hunts didn't come around that often and they were hugely popular. I did very well back then and I was selling texture clothing (well, that's what we had) which has never been my strong suit.

Hunts lasted a long while. Then the good hunts started costing money (I personally like that) and some others charged fees just to play (not so much) and now -- for me anyway -- hunts are not worth doing.

Now we have VENUES. They too have been around a long time but this last year they have gone into geometric progression status. I like venues, primarily because they usually have interesting builds or themes or great content creators -- sometimes all three!

The post is brought to you by the Letter V for VENUE!

* Some very nice hair from MINA, FEMKE V2 for  the Cosmopolitan  Sales Room

* A cute shorts set with various patterned tops by hud from DUCKNIPPLE at District 5.

* This darling home away from home from Sway's at TLC's Route 66 themed event. This is the naturals version; a boho choice is available. LOW land impact and good LODs (impressive).

Night Moves

Need a little dra-ma in your life? The good kind I mean.

Find this new release Petal Dress out from BAIASTICE at TLC event.

And what does this sophisticated dress have to do with Route 66?  Well the road starts in LA and ends in Chicago. And you thought it was just farm country and bikers!  *wink*.

There are of course plenty of more sedate solids to be found -- sans zebra print.

Harvest

Fall is in the air in my corner of the globe. Though mid August, a few leaves are starting to fall and the feel of the air is definitely a reminder that with an early Spring often comes an early Fall. Since the end of the growing season is my favorite season, that's OK with me. Still, Mother Nature is definitely turning things cattywampus these days.

Out from 22769 ~ [bauwerk], the Water Tower Hangout for TLC's The Garden - Route66 theme. It comes large at 30 land impact or just the top for 10. I wanted it for vista on the half sim country road; I split the difference by sizing the large version down a bit (now 19 li). Since I found some very primmy grasses (18 prims!) and took them down along with the old water tower, I actually saved 10 prims. Such a crafty gal.

Now I know not EVERYONE needs a water tower, but if you have a farm or a city or a roll play area -- what a great niche product. There are furnishings that can be purchased and on the large version you can click on the ladder and rez a prim that let's you climb up. OR you can be lazy like me and just double click - LOL.

And now I am off to see what else might be at the event.

Thrill Me Thursday

I hadn't planned to have any new prose for you today, but Friday night I noticed a VERY old post in my sidebar under "Popular Posts". I like that Blogger feature. It let's me know what you are reading. But, even though I have it set for weekly, sometimes a long ago and far away entry sneaks in.

I remember that one of the Color Palette challenges from a couple of years ago had a post called "Where Does Plum Begin?" It used to show up regularly long after its published date. I surmised that mentioning Pantone in there with Plum might have been the reason.

I have NO idea why this post on jewelry showed up. I actually didn't remember that I used to post those ads on this blog. And boy were those prices cheap!

So here is to history which shows up at the most unexpected times!

It's OK to relive the past now and then.

At Home

This post - packed with newness - was shot where I used to live. Nowadays I hang out on my building pad most days. Still I have a great fondness for this abode, the 22769 ~ [bauwerk] Little Warehouse Skybox. It has changed over time, new decor replacing old, some pieces still around as I cannot bare to let go.

There are lots of really lovely (and one that looks like great fun and I can't wait to try out and show you) releases from the 22769 guys.

At La Metallique Fair by L' Accessories you can find some striking things including this Balls Necklace and Fish scale Bracelet (those scales are actual by the way, not a texture). These also come in gold.

My hair is a new release from Vanity Hair, Crazy in Love. (As I side note I am very glad the hair designations are happier these days *wink*.)  Many colors by huds and two sizes help you get your perfect look.

This cute vest is a new release from Ducknipple, the Lien Top with color change hud. Great for pairing over system tops (this one no longer available); brave girls can wear it sans underlayer.

Now I am not trying to show off my "bum" as my surrogate mom used to say, I just want you to notice the detailing in these great jeans.

The CARGO Runway Jeans come in gray, blue and black. Beautifully rendered, they have staying power -- and I like that!  These are bigger in the hip area than would normally fit my boyish figure, so you more normal sized gals are in luck. OH, there are versions for the guys too that come in the same pack! I haven't tried those but I have some friends that will certainly be looking at them.

Love the basics!

Friday!

I almost always check the Fifty Linden Friday goodies. Now and then the day gets away from me and I remember just before shutting down the computer. That works too since you have a WHOLE SL day and night to pick up some great releases.

This week from Second Spaces,  Life's a Bench which comes in grayscale (shown) as well as a colorful version. 4 LI with all these goodies, 1 LI for the empty stacked shelves suitable for collector s and gacha fanatics *wink*.

Musing

It's mid August and things are slow or maybe it is my point of view. Either way I don't have a lot of things that I am jumping up and down to tell you about. And since I go for "credibility" rather than credit (LOL) these pages may have been a bit light of late.

I am obviously writing this ahead just in case I don't have anything else to post in the next few days.

And here's what I am thinking:

I have been looking through the feeds and noticing a lot of arty and DARK DARK DARK  -- or -- LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT photos. I believe we should each be our creative selves and if that works for you? Great.

BUT -- and it's a biggie -- as bloggers who take review copies (and the photos I am talking about were review copies items I am betting) we also have a responsibility to actually SHOW the items we are talking about.

An almost black photo and a note that these (shoes, dress, furniture etc is from "insert store or venue here") really doesn't cut it -- not for the designers OR for the folks reading the blog. Lovely arty photos are nice but many if not most folks read the feeds for INFO and INSPIRATION. They want to know what is new and what it looks like -- and of course if you have some words to go along with your picture that is very good too.

So just in case you are reading this and wondering, "did she mean me?" well -- maybe I did. If you have to reflect and ask then deep down you know that you might be able to do a better job of showing of the items you blog.

Love to be arty? Cool. Put them on Flickr. On your blog? Let me see the stuff I might want to buy.

Mid Summer

It is the middle of those lazy days for many of us. Triple digit temps are predicted for the typist today. Time for a little break.

In this goin' fishin' photo:

*LaRoo boot - find this and the rest of the stock on sale at DEEPLY discounted prices. A great time to pick up some boots or for those of you not in the Slink feet camp, some heels with color matching huds. This is a rebranding sale of sorts.

* Cheeky Pea Castaway Fishing Pail, one of the many themed items to be found at the Fantasy Gacha (adult).  I did the tour there early this morning, crashing my computer even though it wasn't too crowded at that hour.

TURN DOWN YOUR DRAW DISTANCE before you go!  Dressing in textures only (everyone was pretty much naked amidst non-attached items anyway) would be a good plan.

Lots of great things to try for.

Come Inside

Two great -- and very posh -- releases are out for COLLABOR88. The Baiastice Calypso dress come in many lovely colors, features a revealing back view, long flowing skirt -- and an option of fabric in the breast area. Watch for that - LOL.  The more revealing model would be great in role play, but I opted for the sedate version to show off ...

the new Brooklyn Carriage House from Trompe Loeil. 179 land impact units of material enhanced details, it features many interior touches as well.

Along with exposed pipes and bolted open riser industrial stairs, there is a fireplace with on-off candles and this upstairs view window in the open loft.

The city never had a prettier frame.

Peaceful Meditation

Serenity.
A lovely feeling.

For the Fantasy Gacha Carnival (opens the 8th) from Sway's -- the [Ren] Zen garden. Twelve pieces in all with most shown here.

This is a great set. All low land impact and modular (and mod). My favorite pieces are the bamboo fencing and the floating greenery. The base (the one rare item in the set) measures 10 x 10 meters and includes an animated pond.

My outfit of the morn hales form SLC --  the SLC Mesh Bandana Summer Top comes in many colors and is a wonderful basic for those last hot days of summer. In black satin it could be a naughty little clubbing top.  The Mesh Womens Summer Shorts are available in plain colors also.

Floating Away

For the guys from Lavarock Creations, a group gift that let's you wear just the vest, just the tee or both. Sizes run true for the Militia shirt and vest.

This new raft (rotating and static versions) is out from Sway's for The Mens Dept. The raft comes with pillows (5 texture options) 16 animations for up to two and jar with candle and ribbon, flame on / off by touch.

It's going to be way to easy to while away the day, dreaming and such -- so picking up this very nice watch from Loordes of London on the Femboy hunt is a good plan. Find it by the back door on a shelf with lots of other hunt prizes.

Late Night Reading

Once again there is newness at The Mens Dept. Along with manly stuff for "real men" there are plenty of unisex items. From Cheeky Pea, we have the Picardy Set which includes bed with book stash, lamp and three different wall-lean posters.

Details are a big part of my personal preference criteria set. I LIKE real nuts and bolts, light filaments and the like. If you are someone who looks up close and sighs at the intricacies,  this is for you. Materials are on of course in these shots.

My lounger is the new VIP group gift from {what next}. Now YOUR deck chair will come in beachy stripes -- pink multicolored for the small chair, wider blue stripes for the larger. I did some sneaky retexturing so that it would coordinate with the rest of this scene.

And that is a great thing. It is very easy to change the fabric, making this  multipurpose seating, not just for the beach.

Here's the best part -- the chair is an attachment.  Wear it when you are tired of shopping and need a break or on a picturesque beach where no rez is in effect.  However you use it, the Anywhere Deckchair is a great gift!

Book, beer, popsicle and soda wearables are included.

A not too late arrival from Second Spaces happily fits the theme of this post -- books included.

Wonderful details that aren't quite as clear in photo form as I would like them to be. You can read ALL the ticket info as well as the grocery list :D. Love it!

Find this also at The Mens Dept. Y chromosome not required for purchase.

Industrial Dreaming

A superb group gift awaits you at LAVAROCK CREATIONS. The Annie outfit comes with jacket which can be worn with other garments.

Nicely made and very cute, you'll want to check this out. There is a gift for the guys too -- a more streetwise vibe there :D. That might show up on these pages soon but head on over on your own. Don't wait.

In the background a new bed and super great bedside table with wonderful details. You can find the homemade table and bed along with some homemade photo frames (add your own textures) and a rug -- at FaMESHed!  Creator? Cheeky Pea of course.
