Made in Heaven

A perfect pairing? You betcha but since both the Trompe Loeil  Olivine Hangout Set (Uber) and the Ducknipple Centrum Set (all one piece) have extensive pattern and color change menus respectively, I had plenty of help!

Both outfit and decor are lots of fun and had me feeling nostalgic. Got I got myself hippiefied for the occasion.

The almost free on your prim budget books (half a land impact for each stack) are from Sway's. Not new, I have used them many times and many places when I was on a prim budget -- and even when I was not.

Forgotten

I can think of several stylings for this new outfit from Ducknipple, but revisiting my Steampunk days sounded fun, so that's what I chose. The Droom Set comes with color change hud for both skirt and top. Twelve tones are available including pastels.

Goggles and hair are both antique and no longer available.

Town and Country

I am mightily impressed with all the great things out at My Attic this round. The theme is Town and Country (bad, bad, blogger -- I didn't tell you that previously). Pretty much something for everyone and that's a good thing.

This is my roundup post; there is no way I can cover everything so hopefully you smart folks got over there to check out the goodness.

This is the REPOSE fence pose prop. There are lots of fun choices in this copy only prop. Even though I am pretty hard to fit pose prop wise, there were plenty of great shots to be had.  (Bushes are not included.)

An up close and personal shot shows off my attire from MIMIKRI's Gitana release. The vest reminds me of my somewhat infamous boa days and so I wore a smiley face while taking these photos. There is a blouse too and lots of pretty colors to choose from.

From MEVA, three choices of finishes in a lovely Pearls set which includes TWO versions of the necklace.   I spend a LOT of time in MEVA jewelry. You might want to try that some day  if you have not *wink*.

Now these shoes are NOT from My Attic, but they went so nicely I wanted to add them to this post. If you remember the Gold Rush set from ArisAris/B&W, these are the same shoes in a myriad of perfect colors for most any outfit. Trendy Celebrities like all the recent ArisAris releases let you change colors on different parts of the shoe. If you dress up a lot and like high heels, you will definitely want these in your collection. For Maitreya, Slink, Eve and eBody mesh feet.

Happy Rez Day

It's Sami's rez day tomorrow and she is looking pretty smashing. Hard to beat mesh bodies; Lara was a present to herself.  I am going to get her some shoes as that part of her wardrobe must be lacking -- mine certainly was when I got rid of all the things that no longer worked.

Photo taken at LEA15 which I definitely plan to film as soon as my new computer gets here. Hopefully Sami and I can do some adventuring in October when I am able to roam a bit more without almost crashing. Fingers crossed for sure.

Don't forget you can check her page for some of the best free finds.

Anyway, her outfit is mostly free with some new hair from the Truth discount room ($50 - not mesh)

Here is what she is wearing.

GIULIA DESIGN***KEROLAIN pants (Second Life Free and Offers group gift - part of a set)

{ViSion} - *GIFT* Top (Second Life Free and Offers group gift) with appliers

Weaponized Sugar Triangular Dangle Earrings - gift (maybe a dollarbie)

At Home

When I purchased my mesh body at the beginning of the year, I faithfully went through my inventory and deleted all the clothes "it" could not wear. That of course left large gaps in my wardrobe -- including system layers.

Mesh is wonderful, but there are times when you REALLY need basics.  Enter this makes-ya-smile undies set from *Lacuna*, the Camille Gingham Lingerie. Legacy avatar garments are included of course as well as appliers for many mesh bodies and Lola.  Whatever your favorite color, you will likely find it in this fourteen hue release.

Find your favorites at My Attic!  I know that YOU know you can also wear the bra as a layer under jackets and overalls. We are SO smart.

Isla Gealach has been working her mouse and computer way too hard of late, producing some great Fall releases. I haven't been keeping up there are SO many!  This cute little Cheeky Pea Autumn Step Frame decor piece comes in three wood versions (this is dark) and weighs in at 1 land impact.  The lantern and frame duo is a separate piece and can be moved or unlinked to use elsewhere.

Look for it at My Attic also.

If your pose selection is low on what I have labeled as "stances", these Attic Poses (six in the set) from Label Motion may be just what you need to fill that void.

You guessed it, My Attic!

School Days

You don't need to go back to school to enjoy some of these new releases from My Attic, but as I was dressing I was feeling nostalgic for the first days of classes -- hence my location.

Whippet & Buck - Briet Tweed Skirt; a mid length casual style suitable for many occasions.  (SO many color choices!)

{Luxuria} Town and Country Thigh High Socks *Indulgence* with appliers (again TONS of colors!)

Essenz - Alabama heels, this time in black. See this close up and scroll down a couple of days for more details.

My pose complete with books is from {NANTRA}. This great, Illegally Blonde, pose pack comes with purse and dog as well as books. But (and this is a plus) most poses work just fine on their own -- a very nice addition to your pose collection.

My Attic opens today and I am very happy to be part of the crew. Beautiful things; great values -- there is bound to be something you need!

Here is a quick rundown of a few of the many items to be found. I will be showing off some more in subsequent posts, but feel free to journey over on your own and find your personal favorites.

FROM:

.:EMO-tions:. * STEPHANIE 2 *, a tied and windblown style perfect for those breezy Autumn days.  Various hair texture huds are available as well as a hud for the tie. Here, I chose white and then tinted to match my skirt. I also added a simple blank specular texture for some subtle shine. Hairbases are included.

A hud let's you change two different sections choosing from gold, silver or copper.

Little zippers run up the back and there is fine stitching on the edges -- just like real life shoes!

Both the bench above and the oh-so-cute pumpkin decor are from Cheeky Pea  -- out for  Kustom9.   I put the pumpkins by my front door to welcome visitors in a stylish yet homey manner.

The poetry on the bench pillow reads: I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

This beautiful old world fountain comes complete with flowers and rippling water. From Atelier Visconti, you can find it at "The 24" in a limited edition of 150 copies.

Makeover for Him

I don't go shopping for guy stuff all that often. Max and Chav and "Geeky Guy" (all me) get their outfits to show you from designers. I can remember in the beginning (so many years ago) that turning into a guy was fairly traumatic. Now it is just a click or two in the outfits tab. Times change.

This isn't me in the photo; it is my longest real life friend who is turning nine soon in SL and having a real life birthday a bit before.  He is NOT a fashionista by any means. (Does that work for guys too? Well it will in this case.)

I think his last change of clothes was last Fall at my nagging. But when faced with what on earth to get him for his real life birthday (I made some stellar maple syrup banana bread and am throwing in a small dinner party) I decided a makeover would be a really good thing.

I learned a lot looking for his needs. He wanted something bright, not "Banana Republic neutral" (a quote). He also wanted dark skin but friendly looking and new hair was definitely on the shopping list.

It was an adventure -- the shopping for menswear -- and I found some great stores along the way. Men have traditionally had a harder time finding good fashion in SL, but no longer. And except for the skin, these items are either unisex or come in a gals version.

Here is a list of Marketplace Links. I know you are all smart enough to find the "see inworld" link should you want to visits the shops -- and I do encourage that. I visited them all!

Sunglasses with various versions and hud choices:

PANAVIA PHANTOM II BkBk-MC

Skin - 6 versions in the pack:

ZMOKE -- AVATAR BY TELLAQ

Shirt with EXTENSIVE pattern choices by hud (fitmesh that really fits well)

ODDITY Shirt -Bruce- Aloha I COLORS

Now most of you probably know this store, but I did not. I see however that it is one of the top sellers on the Marketplace (where have I been?). I am MIGHTILY impressed with this hair!  There are plenty of styles for gals too -- just in case like me you have been living under a rock *wink*.

{MAGIC} Special Rigged Fitted Unisex Mesh Hair HV58

Necklace is a Pure Poison gift from a year or so ago.
Tattoo (ancient and no longer available but still amazingly good looking)
Boots not shown are group gifts from ODDITY (see the big group gift board; there are also some tall hiking boots and nice driving gloves - unisex)

Gold and Black

Simplicity is a wonderful thing. Add some extra touches of style and it gets even better.

These  ArisAris BW Gold Rush heels (Slink and Maitreya) with matching handbag were available at the Festival of Sin. They sat on my building pad for a long while waiting for partnering.  If you missed them, no worries. You can get these on the Marketplace now. Woot!

From MEVA a new release for On9, the Big Leather Necklace comes in silver, gold and a variegated metal rainbow version.

From Trompe Loeil, the Le Fay Slipper Chair comes in both leather and fabric versions with texture change hud. Find it along with that cute cottage at COLLABOR88.

Who Do We Blog For?

There may be a few answers to that question but hopefully somewhere in the mix the reply is "ourselves".

There has been a lot of chatter on the blogs and blogger groups these last few months about the criteria for blogging some brands. Long lists of musts have lead some bloggers towards -- well let's say dishonesty in an attempt to -- well let's say placate the powers that be.

My advice to newcomers would be to take your time. Find your voice and your style, and for goodness sake, don't sell your soul to get some free stuff. Remember that in many ways you are representing a brand. Blogging is a job. It is a fun position and one you have chosen, but still there are some inherent responsibilities attached -- to the designers, to your audience and yes, don't forget yourself. Trying to balance all three is difficult at times.

When I first started blogging Second Life fashion (the decor part of the blog came later) there were very few blogs, fewer review copies and absolutely no blogger groups. Later in the game as designers began to see that blogs could be helpful to their sales, personal contacts came into play. Designers would approach me offering their goods. Sometimes demands were made. Sometimes I would venture on.

Now, there are blogger calls, Google Docs forms and OMG "criteria". More designers want bloggers but there are many, MANY, more Blogger and Wordpress typists available to choose from than in the olden days. I apply now and then to those calls. Once in awhile I am in the acceptance pile, often not. We seldom know why we aren't chosen. It could be almost anything including our already in place designer lists.

I consider myself a very lucky gal. I have a lot of brands that I feature. Notice I did not use the word sponsor which I think gives a very wrong impression of my part in the process; to me it is a symbiotic relationship.  Many of the creators have been with me for years. I like their work. I want to support them.

We each have our blogging style and a goal for our blogs. Mine is easy. Feature what I feel my readers want to see and things I love. Most often those go hand in hand. Sometimes I blog items that are not really "me" but that I suspect a lot of folks reading would enjoy knowing about. I like (really like) feeling that I am supporting the designers. Without them our world is pretty much a pixelized desert.

Two things happened last week that brought me back to pondering the blogger question.

First I received a lovely note from one of the designers I feature. It went out to the blogger group, so not personal really but it was a warm and cuddly "thanks for liking my stuff enough to blog it; just try and feature some things now and then that you love". Well DAMN, how cool is that?

Second I received a glorious gown that made both Chic and the typist feel so absolutely gorgeous -- it reminded me that we can all be seduced and pleasured by beauty, no matter how extensive our inventories might be.

This is post number 4000 for me. I hadn't actually PLANNED to be chatty on this entry, but serendipity often leads the way in my life.

Someone recently asked me if I was tired of blogging after seven years. Another old time blogger who has left the arena told me she was happy to know I was still plugging away. We do what we do because we love it. At least I hope that is the reason for most of the gals and guys.

Any other just doesn't make sense.

Fantasy Creators Showcase

The Fantasy Creators Showcase event has plenty to offer. Easy shopping, wonderful photo op spots -- and lovely gifts.

Wander the grounds and pick up seasonal goodness from some top creators.

I am wearing the Bluemoon dress and carrying the ~*Souzou Eien*~ Light of the Watch from Draconias Timeless -- both are gorgeous.

Be sure and find as many pumpkins as you can. They are big and obvious, so it is not a chore by any means. There are many wonderful things to pick up including many props for your October decorating.

Something Magical

It must be getting pretty magical over at COLLABOR88. I haven't been of course. I wait for the crowds to die down to a roar. But from what I HAVE seen it must be a stellar round.

From Tromple Loeil, the Le Fay cottage. I am smiling here but I can't tell you why. Such a wicked gal!

So very cute with lovely detailing like the home controls being the mailbox (so sneaky!).  The complete build fits on a 1024 or better OR you could use just the house on a 512.

This is a lovely build for role play or just if you want to smile at the beauty of the world around us.

I love the colored trees!

137 li complete. 47 li for the house only.

Blog Changes

If you have been following along with this blog, you know that my friend Sami joined me last month posting free finds. She is having fun; I am having fun having her.

But we decided to make some changes and the super-slueths out there may have already discovered a link to her very own page. You can bookmark it or get to it easily from this blog by scrolling down and finding her photo at the bottom of the sidebar. Click it and you are there.

This change should be a good one, letting those of you primarily looking for free stuff know where to start and those of you who don't want to be bothered with all that hunting and gathering, bypass those posts easily. It also let's Sami post on HER schedule, not mine and when she has new and timely things to tell you about.

Her style is different than mine of course, but she does know quality!

We will hopefully do more posts together as that is lots of fun and get's me out of the house. She, with more time to spare, will be also showing you new locations. I promise to do more of that too!

You will still find a few free items in my features and attire for the guys when I come across things. In fact, I have a very interesting GUY post (both free and non-free items) coming up very soon!   It's a good one and may lead you to nudge that guy of yours (or yourself) into updating should you be in the "I don't want to shop" camp.

Honestly? Are there folks like that? Yep, there are!  :D

So that's the news.

Post 4000 coming up soon and there will be pondering.

I also joined the My Attic crew and will be featuring more items from that venue -- great for shoppers AND bargain hunters.

Witchy Season

We are moving into that that time of year when things go bump in the night. One of our virtual world's most active times, it is sure to be fun!

A very appropriate "do" for the drama of the season is Vanity Hair's Triada. Just out with an almost endless variety of colors to choose from -- hence good for costumes -- it is sleek and sexy and spooky (well, maybe not so spooky but I like the alliteration :D).

My top is from BAIASTICE, the mini top.
Shoes from ArisAris, Safely High Heeled Sandals.
Undies of course come with Lara.

I haven't been able to get into COLLABOR88 yet. I am not a lover of gray anyway so patience will do for me.  If you are into modern witchcraft, this set from flowey x Teawood is for you. The Half Moon Tables are definitely eye-catching and the props are much fun. My favorite? The Tarot deck! These accessories are separate, not linked, so you can use any or all in any placement you like.

The Golds of Fall

September has been a great month for gifts and here are two of my favorites.

From {what next} for VIP members, this take me back in time scarecrow. Great for gardens or decor. Plop a crow on his arm and he will fit into any country scene. Optional sign text is available by hud.

This Logan outfit from Shae's Creations  has got to be one of the nicest gifts on the Womenstuff hunt. The mesh is excellent with realistic wrinkles at the snug ankles and midrift. There are plenty of details in zippers and studs.

The fitted mesh version (standard sizes are also in the pack) couldn't fit any better!   What a great outfit as we move into Fall.

Moving Back in Time

There is something romantic about the past. Likely only in our minds, it speaks of a simpler time.

Meva's Gujarat Necklace comes in either gold or silver and can be found at Cosmopolitan.

Fitting many role play genres or even just because you like standing out in a crowd, the new Vanity Hair style Freya has a huge selection of colors and tint options via mini click through hud.

From Senzafine for We Love RolePlay, the Deorwyn gown comes in four choices of color huds with four choices of hue in each pack. The sash can be silver or gold.

The Me Inside Me

No matter how large and stupendous our inventories are, we have our favorites. The Bia dress and collar (separates) are so getting added to my list.

Out for COLLABOR88 from Baiastice, this is definitely me. Or at least it is the "me inside me that hides so well when other watch" which is a line that came into my head as I was taking these photos. It is from a poem I wrote many years ago.

A bit of Victoriana can be seen in the design, which for you brazen gals comes in a short version (the same color pack) that I dare say will make its way onto a few burlesques stages with outstanding applause.

Gray Child

Sami has been a good influence on me. I've been getting out more and exploring. There are so many beautiful places to see in our world, it is silly to work ALL the time.

I didn't really go on the Womenstuff Hunt. Sami will have plenty to show you as the month unwinds. I did peak in on the goodies to be found however and picked my favorites.

My Ello Top is from Razor and comes for a version to fit most every gal. This is the Maitreya style and it sticks RIGHT to your body like skin even when you play with those sliders in an energetic manner. It was a bit too brazen for Sami, but for those of us that are determined to get the most from our mesh bodies?  Perfect.

My jeans seem to fit a LOT of bodies. They come with a hud with many many choices of fabric and belt styles. Running on the large side, I am thinking the Jasmin Flair Jeans might work for Lani too.

Find this great gift at blah.BLAH.blah.

Last up in my hunting attire is this very nice B*FLY - Gossip Tattoo (including most appliers). I haven't had a tattoo for this Lara body and it reminds me how much I enjoy them.

This  eXxEsS : CISA  hair is a good fit for my personality as well as face. I like the long sideswiped bangs that aren't really bangs at all; a wonderful casual asymmetrical style.

FaMESHed for September

It is the first of the month and that means FaMESHed time -- which, happily, is always a GOOD time!

From Cheeky Pea -- the first signs of Fall (my personally favorite season) with the :CP: Watercolour Canopy  outdoor seating area. Available in both PG and A, it has lots of details packed into 19 prims. And of course the textures are luscious! Singles and couples animations of course with bonus activities in the A version.

From Trompe Loeil a very stylish mid 1900's retro set with texture change chair and a variety of colors for the lamp. I spotted some new animations and they are quite nice! Look for the Rhonda Chair and Tables.

My outfit is one I put together for a filming shoot. A mix of silk and cut corduroy with some favorite jewelry and my go to heels of the season. You have seen all the pieces on these pages before -- all many times.
