Banned - Oh My!

A strange day just keeps getting stranger *wink*.

I was heading over to a new furniture design venue this afternoon to find that I was banned from the region. OK. I know that can happen when someone only has a white list of entrants.

I was also banned from the neighboring region. Hmmmm.

So, I wondered if there was truly something wrong; a venue that was apparently open and accepting visitors (and buyers) would not just ban folks.

I got a friend to check and see if they could get in and they could. I was indeed bereaved at this point. Being a resourceful gal, I snuck in anyway (well if peaking over a shoulder counts). I have only been banned twice -- to my knowledge. Once about three and a half years ago a furniture store person (who I have happily forgotten) banned me for teleporting Xia in to pick up some camping money. She insisted Xia was a "bot" (bots were new then) and while I explained that she couldn't be as she lives in the same RL town as I, the owners blood pressure knew no bounds and I was summarily dismissed.

The other was a dress designer who banned ALL-- and I do mean all -- fashion bloggers (there were not that many of us then and if you are old enough you might remember this episode). She and I had a long amicable conversation, but she was convinced that banning everyone was the best move.

So either my past has come back to haunt me OR I made an enemy somewhere along the way. Since I never truly give a bad review (I opt for "none" in that case), I am puzzled but will move on.

Meanwhile, I did see a few really impressive and unbelievably low prim items on my very brief afternoon jaunt. So here's to the folks that keep us low prim lot guys living in luxury. Keep on working hard and making beautiful things.

Season's Palette Hunt 2

It is mid afternoon on my part of the globe and I have "finished" the Season's Palette Hunt. Now that finished is in quotes as I got stuck big time when I got around to the beginning. LOL. So much of this post is just to warn you that they aren't ready for you yet. Some empty but for landmark hunt prizes, some still not set for sale. It got depressing, especially since the middle and end of the hunt went fairly smoothly for day one. Ya just never know. It may look like I am sulking, but I am not. I am enjoying quiet time with the bear in the .......

My Closet Seat from Le Primitif, number 42. It comes with lots of poses (only one person can sit as I got Lani over with no luck) AND some color change choices on the pillows. All good. I am guessing this is meant for the small fry among us, but I like that as it is actually people sized. It is copy only but if you really don't want a teddy bear in your bedroom, I am guessing you could put something in front of it like a suitcase maybe? Anyway a very nice prize.

There are plenty of well-made gifts in this hunt. Lots of great furniture (with poses that didn't fit my ridiculously long arms unfortunately) some houses and a selection of clothes. Not too many things were my style and so I will be leaving it up to others to show you. My short set however is both minimalist and varied as it comes with three color choices of tops and two of shorts. Find the prize at SEVEN number 43.

If you are heading out to hunt, I suggest starting at C'est la vie number 24. Along they way you will find Bliensen + MaiTai number 32. Your prize there is a cute set of earring in ALL the palette colors, perfect for any outfits you find to love. There is also a necklace which seems to be sized for the guys. From there you should be OK except for stop number 36, [Circa] C&D Designs. The landmark in 34 goes to a store, but not one in the hunt. Confusing. Happily, Nikki, got me back on the right track through group chat. There is another nice windowseat at Circa as well as some low prim cassocks that I loved but whose poses just wouldn't fit (sigh).

So that's my report. Go forth, have fun. Be prepared -- at least for the moment -- to fly home and unpack boxes and to find empty prizes. Ya gotta love the challenge.

The Rose Story

I promised those gardeners out there that I would continue with the tale of my free Tuscan Rose from PlantPets (Concert Hunt). With two new releases that needed a backdrop, today is the day.

First up the new releases. From KOSH for Lazy Sunday there is a collection of wall mount decor pieces. This one with candles is my favorite. I wanted some candles in my new tiny place by the bay, but nothing in my inventory seemed to fit. These are great and very low prim. Yeah!

New from Addiction Jewelry is the necklace and earring set. The necklace is long and great with sweaters. Lots of fine detail work adds some glamour to even casual attire.

The Fanfare Silver and Black Pearl set comes with necklaces, both spine and chest attachments, and includes resize and non-scripted version.

Note that this jewelry does have shine if you are not running shadows. I had no idea shine didn't work well with shadows. Smarter now.

As you remember I rezzed my seed and asked it to grow. I waited for some time, about an hour and a half. The message in chat said my rose would be delivered to me. Silly me I sat and watched the seed for a long while expecting it to turn into the rose -- sort of like bunnies do. After awhile I decided that the rose was on much slower time (true, but there is more to the story.). I logged out for the day.

I returned late that eve and was going through some inventory when I found "another " Tuscan Rose in my objects folder. "Odd," I thought but I rezzed it to see. It was the actual pot with the rose, apparently delivered quietly in my absence. I needed to touch that and tell it to grow. Oh, my. Silly me. So I watered my soon to be rose and went to bed for the night.

The plant grew fairly fast. When I woke up there was a stem and twelve hours from its birthing it looked like this.

I found I was not terribly thrilled with the color of the pot and so I tried tinting it and that worked fine. I suspect I could change textures and even shape If I wanted to, but I didn't try that.

Lani checks on the plant too. I added her to the plant's friends list so that she can water as needed. The first buds appeared closed and light green. Later they changed to red and as time passed, they opened.

Now roses aren't my flower of choice; there are lots of other plants in the store that are more my style. But this is a wonderful way to test out my green thumb. I have left my plant growing at "normal" speed, the default. At that rate I need to come water twice a day to keep the plant very happy. And of course I want my plant happy.

Owners can set the growing rate to ~~very very fast to speed up the time until a baby is ready~~ to come into the world (52 days). Edit: The maker assures me that speed has nothing to do with those 52 days. So I am going to turn mine down slower and not worry so much about watering. At least I think that is how it works. For this first one, I am just going to bide my time and let nature take its course. The plants are temp rez as I mentioned so won't work for everyone. Happily my tiny mainland plot can support a couple. The PlantPets pots range from 2 to 5 prims with this style being 3.

And yes, Lani loves the free mesh overall set from Coco. The whole world featured it, so you didn't see it yet again on these pages -- until now by accident *wink*.

Season's Palette Hunt

The Season's Palette Hunt starts in about an hour. I did a little early sleuthing with some good results. Not all prize vendors are set to buy; not all are filled. Happily though in my very brief sojourn of the eve, I found them all. Two I will retrace tomorrow and hopefully pick up the prizes.

The hunt objects are fairly small and even when out in the open can be difficult to find so going with a friend or two might be helpful. My favorite gift of the first dip is this very pretty dress with shrug from Sassy. I love the colors! And the print reminds me of my new cherry tree; so pretty.

Another very nice find is this long MESH dress from Leri Miles Designs. It comes in two sizes and one just might fit YOU!

So thanks to the folks that got their items out in time for the start. Go forth and look for the colors of Spring. I am ready!

Shopping on Sunday

A couple of quick grab them Sunday releases. First up the Oversa necklace by KOSH which is part of the La Venta Eventa. Hopefully you are smarter than I and know where that is. It may be at the shop OR not. I have no more info. VERY pretty necklace however *wink*.

Also for Sunday there is a very nice MESH fireplace from Trompe Loeil. The Lion's Head Fireplace weighs in at 13 prims and comes with fireplace change textures. The vases change colors as a group also. It is happily mod/copy as my ceiling was lower than some. Part of the Spruce up Your Space event, it is on sale through Sunday and will then be regular price at the shop. Find a demo at the store and cycle through all the looks available. You can tint of course if you are in the mood.

High Art

Linden Endowment for the Arts sims can be great places for photos. This morning adorned with a new release from eXxEsS I decided to venture over to my neighbor's installation, the Mausoleum.

The newly released Aeterna outfit comes with a swirling open skirt. The skirt's lively demeanor brought with it ideas of spells and potions, definitely magical (or majickal if you prefer).

This is a "board room to bedroom" outfit. Drop the skirt and you have an enticing boudoir ensemble, boots included.

The real stars of the show, for me anyway, are the jewels; statement making for sure.

The detailing on the bodice is also lovely and stands well on its own.

The set comes with a fur stole, in this case blue, but there was no way I was hiding my jewelry *wink*.

Edit: I just got a group notice that a pose hunt just started at the Mausoleum. Look for nine beer cans scattered around the sim and pick up some "manly" poses made by the artist, Misprint Thursday.

The Colors of Time

The word "patina" comes from the Latin for "shallow dish". Figuratively, patina can refer to any fading, darkening or other signs of age, which are felt to be natural or unavoidable (or both). So it is very fitting that my upcoming color of the week post features vintage.

This was not an easy color for me. I am sure there are pieces in my now voluminous wardrobe that fit the theme, but which ones and where they are elude me. Happily a prize on the Concert hunt was perfect in both style and hue.

Snowpaws Watercolor Lyric Dress is both ladylike and vintage. I added some recent release jewelry from Eclectica, Enchant pearl earrings and necklace and a just out Sweetheart Hair from Pomme D'amour. Not making it into the shot, but happily coordinating are my Audrey color change heels from Kalnins.

Giving Birth

I absolutely never cared about being pregnant in the virtual sense. Still birthing bunnies was fun and now I am working on birthing a rose plant from PlantPets -- the prize on the Where is the Concert Hunt. Unlike bunnies which take an hour, plantpets run on real time (the 24 hour kind). I have no idea how long it will take the seed to sprout but I am thinking several days. If I remember correctly it takes 52 days of a "happy plant's" life for it to have a baby of its own. I love the not having to buy food aspect. Yeah.

I suspect it will like its spot on my front deck overlooking the bay. Sheltered sun. I'll keep you apprised and be sure and post "baby" photos *wink*.

Oasis Morn

I have a lot of lovely garments from Angelwing. They are packed away in my "costumes" folder; I take them out from time to time. You never really know when something exotic may be just the dress of the day. This new silks outfit complete with lots of jewelry is free on the Where is the Concert hunt.

I want to issue a little warning about this hunt since I have been promoting it. They have been collecting names (well of course in order to verify that you completed the hunt and might go to the concert), but this morning I got four chat messages from "the hunt" about joining hunt groups and the like. I did NOT join any hunt groups previously by the way. Hopefully this will not be a reoccurring event and hopefully the messages will go away when the hunt is over. But, just so you know ----

Location is Tajuk Oasis which is a role play sim (OOC tag required). Thanks to Renee Parkes for her post with a pretty picture the other day. The grounds photograph beautifully but I have to admit that finding a Windlight setting that would show off the garment, the buildings and me all at once was a real challenge. So I went for the garment cause we KNOW that's what you are interested in *wink*.

Where is the Concert? Seeing Red

I have been seeing red lately. Partly because of this cute new release NATASCHA outfit including glasses as well as a really nice flexi tie (not shown) from EMO-tions (releases SATURDAY) and partly because of the goodies I found at the Rose Theater on the Concert Hunt.

The furniture pack from the theater is one of my personal favorites on this hunt -- it replaces my Victorian furniture lost in the database meltdown. Yeah! I am not sure when I might be living in the Steamlands again, but it is very good to know I have furniture for a fancy house should I so choose.

There are lots of pieces in the set including a couch and armchairs (not shown). Pieces are all no copy so be sure and pick up an extra box for backup. The hint on the blog is something like "it waits for no man". I spent a long time looking for this even though it was really pretty easy to find. The theater is a big place and if you take a wrong turn -- well, you get the idea. So MY hint is to make sure your sound is on and listen. When I went back this morning to make sure the theater was where the furniture came from (again no landmarks and few clues), I found it very easily.

One more bit of info. While it might look like the table is levitating in the middle shot, it really isn't. Just a trick of placement on a big expanse of white floor. But it MIGHT be levitating as I now have a magic wand complete with spells, also from the Concert hunt. This just went out last night at The Arcanum. I got a message in chat come to me mysteriously. This was actually a little disturbing since that technology could easily be misused.

I was happy to get THIS message however saying that the prize was now in the ticket which had been moved. A second message gave the new hint to "go through the red curtains and sit by the fire to read". The ticket isn't far away. Hopefully that SLURL from the blog leads to the spot where the red curtain is :D.

I have a few more items from the Concert hunt that may make it into these pages. There are plenty of nice gifts. OH, that reminds me -- there is a PlantPet as a prize. I haven't unpacked mine yet, but I am anxious to. No 'food' to buy thankfully and I love plants. It is a temp rez system according to the FAQs I read at the shop, so probably only useful on the mainland or if you own your own sim. I am looking forward to watching it grow.

Where is the Concert? Waiting for Spring

About this time of year I start looking forward to Spring, both virtually and in real life. I finished the Concert Hunt today (minus two stops) and some of my finds definitely reminded me of the upcoming season change.

Home by JLZ footrest (oversized obviously) with a really nice animation that fits me perfectly, both for shape and temperament.

Flower circle with GORGEOUS butterflies from The Looking Glass. Also includes the picnic basket shown as well as a seating rug and tree stump.

Music room skybox in the background also from Home by JLZ.

The skybox complete with yard and flora can obviously work on the ground. It needs a 1024 lot to fit and comes with decor items such as a piano.

Inside it it open and airy with lots of curtained windows as well as music decor on the walls. It is mod so you can adjust as you like.

My outfit is from ViviDesigns also on the hunt. I love these white jeans which are true hiphuggers, not crotch coverers *wink*. The sculpted bottoms work very nicely.

For those of you doing this hunt, be aware that there is a store list on the website so if you get stuck you can do what I did -- find a store you haven't visited and continue on from there. I had to do this quite a few times but eventually I accomplished my goal.

Where Is The Concert? Hunt - Part 2

I continued on with the concert hunt this eve getting stuck at some horse farm and thereby giving up my chance at the concert *wink*. BUT, I have to say I am impressed with the prizes. Shown here are a great outdoor barbecue set with all the food you could ever want from ENVISION PREFABS, (so sorry, wrong landmark in the the prize box. Thanks to Maria for alerting me and asking for help :D) a really lovely tree (no copy so grab two or three) from Willowdale Estate, and a pretty dress (not the only one I found this eve) from GIZZA ( I hope that is the correct LM as two were included in the box).

On the personal side we have some lovely mesh hair (my first I think) from the ALICE PROJECT (sorry no LM included). It is also COLOR CHANGE! Woot. My cute top hat is from TLG. And THERE my lovelies is the problem with this hunt. For whatever reason there are very few landmarks in the prize boxes. There are also NO landmarks to the next stops. Hence, now that I got stuck I have no real way to know where to pick up. So I will just choose a place I haven't been and go from there I guess.

The clicking and getting a map is very handy, but since you often don't know where you are going really and have no idea of where you have been (there IS teleport history for some folks) it makes it difficult to return to stores you want to visit. So, be prepared for that pitfall.

AHHHHH -- TLG is "The Looking Glass". Thank you teleport history box. And with that I am heading back to see if the prize giver will let me have another tree *wink*.

Year of the Dragon Hunt

This morning I reported on some hunt skins with one being on the Year of the Dragon hunt. Happily Sami got enthused and decided to try out the hunt. She did a smallish section in the middle and came away with a few nice things. Her report is that the hunt includes many stores with perhaps new designers. The hunting wasn't too hard but the hints were of importance. Her favorite fines included this Tai Chi set (unisex) from Cilian'gel. A short dress is available for gals in the same basic style. The sleeping panda bear with hold pose for photos is from Posh!

This really lovely tea service is from RnB Designs Furniture. The set weighs in at 25 prims.

The tea service (linked to the table) is outstanding.

I will definitely be going over to look for this. It is a no copy item, so pick up two. You never know when a database meltdown or other tragedy might occur.

If Sami continues on her hunting journey I will be sure and update you with her favorite finds.

Monday Hunts and News

By now you must have figured out that I really like these chairs as visual props. I also am quite fond of my almost empty 120 meter building pad up high in the empty skies. It's hard to find empty skies these days, so I am enjoying the minimalist view!

My quick post of the morn highlights skins from Soulglitter. These appeared in my inventory when I wasn't looking -- some of you know how that is. Two hunt gifts as well as deeply discounted full avatar pack are the main themes. Close ups below, but while I have you in "long" mode, note the cute little shrug (VERY cute little shrug and I love shrugs) from [Cynful] on the Where is the Concert Hunt?.

My scanty attire is partly to show you the skin and partly to to show you how very long that semi-sheer undershirt from Sassy! (see last night's hunt post) is. Wow. This is a must have for those of us that sometimes like to keep our tummies covered.

And in honor of the Truth District sale which I hope Lani gets to when the sim is no longer full (if that ever happens), I am wearing old but still very cute Truth hair. OMG! As I was typing this, avatar count went from 31 to 51. The sale lasts a week thank goodness.

This messy makeup skin is your to find on the Shattered Heart Hunt. When you find the hunt skins you will get notecards about full avatar packs that are on special for the duration of the hunts. These come with lots of goodies including a very nice AO. So read that notecard if these fit you well.

Important note: I just got a message from a friend that started the Dragon Hunt. At least one item was set for $25 (pretty hefty for a hunt) so WATCH before you buy. Hopefully this was just an error.

Where Is The Concert? Hunt Report

Awake in the night, I started on the Where Is The Concert Hunt. The grand prize for completing all the stops on the 52 store tour is an invite to a private concert group. From there I am guessing it will be a who can TP into the show thing. Now, I never had plans to go for the concert tickets, but there were plenty of great shops on the list so I thought I would try my hand. Amazingly I completed the first quarter with not too much trouble. You WILL need the hints on the website (link above).

This is a touch the item to get the prize and open the map to the next locale. That all worked well. Of course you don't always know where you are GOING so that is a little tricky. I found myself checking the store list fairly often to see which of the stores to head for. The all seemed to have their posters out so that was good. I didn't find any missing shops in the section I did. I started at Purple Moon.

Now you aren't going to keep everything you pick up on this hunt, but there are some nice items and except for a few odd landing spots, it all went smoothly. A quick rundown of items I found this eve include: Outfit from Sassy!, skin (one tone) from Carisma Creations Design, hair (color change by hud) from ChicChickie! and very pretty earrings from Exodi (part of a huge color pack). There were other nice prizes that may certainly make it into another post.

But for now, the typist is heading back to bed as Chic has a busy day tomorrow *wink*.

On Thin Ice

This afternoon I completed my installation at LEA12, my quarter sim plot. Ahead of schedule with nine galleries as well as landing area and a machinima in the can, I am a happy gal.

Gallery meets exploratorium in an interactive journey with a reminder that as nations, individual and species we are each day -- walking on thin ice.

Corridors twist, turn leading visitors on a personal and sometimes interactive adventure.

The artistic and hopefully thoughtful exhibit includes a machinima, Party at the End of the World.

I will be filming a live review for the next three days, but I hope to get in a little hunting too. This is the $25 store from Ducknipple's designer. Who knew? Items are made from templates but look good. Find the top in a gift box by the crates.

A new group gift dollarbie is out for AKERUKA group members. Damien comes with an optional tattoo eyeliner layer with hairbase (worn). The light skin features facial hair which is very nicely done and some fine but bushy eyebrows.

It's the little touches in life that add to the enjoyment, that round out our experience be it corporeal or virtual. Atelier Kreslo's offerings for January highlight those seemingly insignificant details that add ounces and pounds to the reality scale.

The teacup? Who doesn't like a steaming cup of tea with TEABAG? I am not all that classy. Teabags and I go way back *wink*. Both wearable and rezzed versions are available, coffee too; four cups in one take away bag.

A poem is clipped to the bare branches attached to the chair. I dare you not to cam in and read it.

The new collaborative venture pairs furniture designers with posemakers; this month's duo are Art Dummy and Flowery. Four poses are available from the chair menu. Adjustments are included. The shop is staged as a cafe with lovely lighting possibilities as you can see. The drawings on the wall are from lindini2 lane, this month's featured artist. The works are free! So stop by and pick up some special seating and a little art.

Cafe Hunt : Wrap Up

These new boots (click photo for enlargement) are NOT part of The Cafe Hunt, they are my favorite new release from Baby Monkey.

Aside from a really lovely texture on the top cuff, they have a hud with so many color choices you would hardly need other boots. Well, of course you WANT other boots, I get that.

Still, a great choice if you are new and low on pennies.

Last up from The Cafe Hunt, just because I love to cook and really hope to use this in a KITCHEN someday (I have never actually had much of a kitchen in a home), I wanted to note this very nicely done canister and spice set from bitter vanilla #10.

Cafe Hunt : Part Two

Continuing on with our gastronomic tour brought to us by The Cafe Hunt, here are two more domestic worker outfits. Mine (only part of the outfit which includes boots, head gear and arm decorations) is the Cafe Lolita outfit from #15 - Bubblez Design. I love the apron which hold cutlery; the ruffled shorts are darling. Dion, my partner on this hunt, is wearing a mix of two gifts, the base maid outfit from bonne chance #11 with the apron from #53 *RibboN*.

Our tasty looking goodies are two of the choices of wearable foodstuff trays from #37 Nanan~.

Baffle #08 is the maker of this countryfied home decor, Grandma's Milk Pitcher.

My hair will be the newest group gift from EMO-tions (Jan 21).

This is the +NK+ #40 Alice of the Waitress outfit which includes oversized watch; what a fun prop. Shoes are again from .XIV #1. Dion's pose as well as mine in the shot below are some of a five piece set from !SyDS! (#63).

One more time ( there are actually more costumes than I will be showing you) has us in black white and red. Most of my maid's outfit comes from Ambrosia #3. I gave up the full little girl skirt and added the apron from the Bubblez costume. This has darling socks and frilly pantaloons. Dion is in much more sedate attire, suitable for an uptown gal. Cafe Hunt : Domesticity

I took a break from artistic endeavors today and ventured over to the domesticity realm on The Cafe Hunt. Two thumbs go up for this hunt which has only a few problems, and what hunt doesn't. Lots of great shops (very CUTE shops with decorations that you want to stop and enjoy) and many that aren't on the typical hunt trails. So newness all around. I have tons of things to show you, but this will be a start. I am taking tomorrow off for many reasons including the SOPA protest :D.

Meanwhile --

That no numbering and such is a bit of a problem as it makes it difficult to tell where you are going if you get lost. The website has numbers (no store names) but many of the stores renamed their hunt items with only a store name; no hunt, no number. You definitely want to keep that hint page open to check for hard to find items as well as the ones to skip :D.

There are many, many barista and maid outfits in the hunt with this one from izm. They run the gambit from plain to very "Alice" depending on the maker. So there is sure to be one you love amidst the choices.

This really nice coffee shop set of props including a mini crate with coffee bags and a hold pose also comes from Kue, a shop I used to stalk for its lucky boards long ago. The shop is very different now, but it was good to revisit.

Some very cute flats, suitable for many of the domestic laborer outfits can be found at [.XIV]. Other colors come in the prize pack.

I suggest doing the whole hunt. It would be difficult to find the pieces that will be your favorites by the hit and miss method. I will be showing you more on Thursday! LOTS more.

In the Clouds

It is a busy week ahead for me so this Monday post may become my 52 color "Iron" offering -- or not. Either way two new releases make it notable.

First up is this new jacket from Halcali, a new to me brand. It comes with a delightful skinny neck scarf and is also available in brown, navy and red.

My very cute boots (covering all shades of gray) are from WOoT. These work nicely with either casual or dressy stylings and are available in other colors. Now I want to warn you that these come out of the box VERY BIG. No worries though, they downsized by menu (also manual mod) easily. They really are worth the effort *wink*.

My locale? I am up on a 120 meter white building pad above my LEA installation. I made this windlight setting for a film and just love the way the sky blends into the white. So expect to see it as my go to background for awhile. Lots to do. No exploring for me.

Props and Poses for January

Lots of news in the props and poses category today. First up is the new version of the Polywall from Diesel Works. Many of you have the original version. Well upgrade time is here. Some stunning new textures make this a keeper for those of you that prefer to take your shots in the studio.

From the notecard:

Options in menu include, Switch Poses from 1-26, Switch textures from 1-16, Adjust Pose positions.

Pose and Texture menu can be accessed by a third party who is not sitting on the object., e.g. a photographer trying to access menu while a model sits.

However, the photographer will not be able to ADJUST position of the model. This will need to be done ONLY by the person sitting on the object.

There are also two couples poses out for everyone at the shop. This walking together pose is especially nice.

If you are a group member there are rumors (well an announcement) of a less than PG rated gift for you. So stop by the shop and check out the goodies.

It is a new year and time to update you pose portfolio. I hate to say it, but I still see some of those five year old (maybe more) free "model" poses on the feeds from time to time.

Trust me, your peers know. Get some better quality stances *wink*.

Birthday Presents

I pretty much forgot my rez day as the year turned into another. My friend Divine did too. That's what comes with getting old. She turned five a couple of days ago with no pomp or celebration. But today, Ramya skins (Yasum Designs) unveiled a new skin for the gals and I rushed over and TPed Divine to the group vendor.

Divine has always been dark skinned. When she popped into the world that was indeed an oddity. And for the last year she has been searching for a skin that had her looking like she did when she entered SL (only better of course). Today, she got her wish, just a couple days away from a celebration point.

The RAMYA*YOKI* MODEL * avangard *EBONY skins come in three tones including pale and sunkissed (or similar names -- you get the idea). Join the group and get the goodies. There is a never ending supply of gifts.This is a dramatic skin with a dark gray "racoon" mask around the eyes. Hence the glasses which actually work quite nicely I think.

What's in a Name?

A little of this. A little of that. I was so happy to see "electric indigo" appear on our 52 weeks of color list. I had just found something in my inventory that I had marked for last year's challenge and hadn't used.

Now, honestly -- this is bright violet to me. Not the lilac we often call violet, but the actually COLOR WHEEL violet. Oh the things we learn in Art 101. Everything here is old and from the bottom of my closet. Many things are no longer available, but obviously still viable. The Blue Blood pants are actually well on their way to purple, but hey, it's a neighboring hue; that red-violet thing.

It should be noted that if "electric indigo" was actually in the blue-violet family, it didn't show up that way on my monitor. I am going with the swatches *wink*.

Retro Rocker

The For What Ever hunt seems to be the flavor of the month. I stopped in at a few spots I knew and so far, this is my favorite prize -- a retro rocker outfit a la 50s from FA Creations. Find this in the store for ladies; another (not matching) outfit is out for the guys. The set includes all the accessories as well as shoes.

I was happy to get out and act a bit silly this morning. Lani, hard working crystal collector, bought something today and was severely disappointed. The vendor photo, in retrospect, had obviously been Photoshopped. So not good. Happily it wasn't a store that I feature. I felt bad for her. Even though it is really only a quarter, it takes more than a morning to earn that collecting those bright colored gems.

I remember the first thing that I bought long ago, some shoes. Those were from a prominent shop at the time and back then no demos were available, no products out on the floor. You bought from a vendor and took your chances. The shoes were so bad, they got tossed even though they were expensive. Another Photoshopped issue. Lanis sweatshirt got tossed today also. Sad really. Disappointments in SL still count. It's one thing if items just don't fit or look good; it is another if some shady work went into the product selling photos.

So go forth and hunt and have a great time. Stick with the designers you know and love; find new ones on the hunt trails.

Evian - Jordan

Who says gals are the only ones that like to play with makeup? For you guys out there (or you gals with guy avatars), a new skin makes its debut from Egoisme. Jordan comes with lots of basic choices such as body hair (full or partial) and hair bases. It is both dramatic and exotic and has that model look.

Aside from a very long list of eye shadows, eye liners and vivid rockstar makeups, there are tattoo layer overlays that let you adjust skintone. The Vividtone layers let you add tints in the appearance editor. The above shot is the same tan version skin but with tinted Vividtone layer. I admit it, I added some eye shadows and liner too. The point is that there is a very large collection of options that let you be creative about your look. No need to wear a skin just out of the pack. Explore. Have fun.

MESH: The good, the bad, the --

I haven't actually written an op ed piece *wink* in awhile. This will be very short.

I have noted over the last few days a lot of gals wearing mesh outfits that so obviously didn't fit. If, in the real world someone could stick a fist down the side of the dress ???? Well it doesn't fit, gals.

I get some lovely mesh items that never make these pages. If it looks really bad on me, no matter how nicely it is made, I can't see that blogging it is helping he designer. I (and the gals in question) look like little girls trying to play dress up in mom's clothes -- at best.

In the not too distant future, we will (in theory) have mesh that fits everyone and this problem will go away. I am guessing the designers will be very happy to make just ONE garment and not three or four or five for each style. Thanks to Momo for the tip on the upcoming feature.

I know that sometimes there is a lull of good things to blog. Still ----

Now and then the humdrum of daily fashion looses its excitement and the lure of the strange beckons. Well, here it is. Alice in Wonderland meets Night Terrors with creativity and panache. The new Balance outfit won't be available until the end of the month. So make a sticky note as a reminder if your tastes venture over into the bizarre domain now and then.

Somehow bald work for me here. The face tattoo and eyelashes -- in fact everything you see here (no shoes) is part of the set. I definitely need to find a way to work this into an art piece!

Redecorating

Newness worked its way into my new abode this evening. A Collaborator 88 set from Trompe Loeil is the happy cause. A huge new MESH set of "Simple Culture" furniture is available for an unbelievably low price. I don't publish costs on this blog but many of you know about Collaborator 88 so you can do that math. Everyone else, well get over there and look! But maybe not this evening as there are so many green dots there, I am thinking you won't be able to move *wink*. You have ALL MONTH, so there really isn't any hurry.

Quite a few things about this furniture impressed me. It was SO LOW on prims -- that's number one. The couch complete with pillows and poses has a land impact of 5. Just last night I had some issues with mesh. One item that I rezzed that "looked" like one prim, had an impact value of 108. OH MY! So I was extremely pleased to see how thrifty these pieces were. Amazing. While I have a few thousand prims over at LEA, my home is now a modest 117. So, I care!

The pieces are all mod which means you can tint them and resize them. I did both. You can see the original colors here. The couch now in my living room was originally hot pink like the chair. I simply tinted it a bit to coordinate with my existing furniture. A couple of clicks and I was set. I also downsized everything as I am a big believer in small scale and my friends don't tend to giant-ism.The pieces come with subtle shadows built in; the ones you see here are from the sun and my viewer.

My at home outfit of the eve includes a new top (part of a set) from Gwen Carillon Designs. It comes with a tiny mini skirt as well as a prim dress bottom. Being a pants gal, this worked best for me. My hair is Jasmine from Alli&Ali and a marketplace special. I am also wearing the new jewelry gift from MIEL; very pretty.

Coral Revisited

Now I am not planning on posting a week of everything coral. That would be pretty, but there may be some of you out there that don't like the color as much as I. Still, when a pretty outfit comes your way in a timely manner, it is difficult to put aside. The new Anthea dress from Leri Miles Designs come in other colors of course, red, violet and onyx are all covered. I have to admit to opening up coral and only coral though. I was hooked. The fabric is shiny; the print detailed and ladylike. A little bit retro and casual enough for shopping or play or a visit to the soda shop, it is definitely multipurpose. My very nicely made and slightly messy (read realistic) pig tails are from MINA as part of the Zombie Popcorn event. A hud lets you change from red, to blond to black with a click. Very cute. Manual mod for sizing.

Chilly Whites

A quick post with a little chilly goodness. The Urban Winter Hunt starts tomorrow and this cute sweater in a myriad of colors and layers is the gift from Beautiful Dirty Rich. There doesn't seem to be an official blog for the hunt; at least Google and Bing are clueless. So why not start at BDR?

These are the same boots I showed you last eve, but in brown and black. Again, lots and lots of color combos are available.

And on a personal note for the two of you that follow my art escapades *wink*, I was endowed with a quarter sim from LEA late last eve. I will be working on an installation called "On Thin Ice". Suspecting to be completed in a couple of weeks, the plot is mine until mid March so hurrying is not mandatory. I'll let you know when it is ready for visitors.

About Those Boots

It really is about the boots, so they get the lead photo *wink*. I don't need to say much; the photo will suffice. Great new boots with a Victorian flare out from lassitude & ennui. The Selene mesh boots are simply yummy. They bend with your ankle (gasp) and as any Victorian or Steamy lady knows, a well-turned ankle is something to be very proud of.

I donned myself in some old favorites and took myself over to Babbage, a place I hadn't visited in a long while. The boots come in a large selection of mixed and solid colors. I of course am partial to the plainer varieties including some luscious steamy brown ones just waiting for a new outfit! There are also pastels for Spring (can't wait) and brights for when you really want to show off.

The boots come in two similar sizes for a perfect fit for many avatars.

Linden Realms 101: A Beginner's Guide

Around Christmas 2011, I discovered the new Linden Labs area, Linden Realms. This was at a time when my computer was broken and I was on my six year old notebook and 1.23.5. Slightly bored (OK, mucho bored) with no opportunity to take photos or blog, I ventured over as Lani, my Gogo inspired alt, to see what there was to see. It took me awhile to figure out that the reason I was seeing blobs instead of objects is because I needed a MESH viewer. OK. There is point one *wink*. A few weeks after my computer was fixed, I ventured back over in the newest Firestorm release (mesh enabled) and it was a much prettier place. Shadows reigned and bright colors reminded me of Disney and childhood.

No matter how much research I attempted though, I couldn't find out anything that actually helped me understand Tyrah's realm. And so, I decided to make a post for all those that are interested, and especially the new folks. Not to leave Linden Labs out of the equation, here are the official FAQs.

Point 2: You need to go to a Linden Realms Portal park in order to get to any of the game areas.

Once you enter the gateway from the Portal Park doorway to Tyrah's place you will be greeted with a message and a HUD will be attached. The HUD shows the amount of crystals you have collected as well as the current quest that is on your "To Do" list should you care to partake.

IMPORTANT: You will also get messages in chat from Tyrah as you work on quests. These are easily missed, so be sure and check your chat often. If you can read your chat while you are running from rock monsters? Even better.

Your first quest activity will be to collect a red, yellow and orange crystal and then bring them back to base camp and stand on the mechanical device in the workshop. Listen to what Tyrah tells you.

Update: There are five quests in all. The first quest is actually the most difficult as you go all over the island and then get paid $3 *wink*. The next four you collect crystals (or use ones you have already collected), make flares and jog across the continent to light the four different canons. Once you have shot off all for cannons (just click the cannon when you are right next to it) your quests are done and you can go about collecting more crystals if you choose.

There is a known bug in the first quest -- or at the end. If you have gone to the Spire and received a message to "return to Tyrah's workshop and share your findings", you of course need to make it back to base camp. If standing around in the workshop garners no money or further instructions, you -- like many of us -- are stuck. I tried removing the HUD and entering through another portal park to a different instance. Eventually I found one that worked. For me it was Portal Park 4 and instance 7. So give that a try if you are stuck.

There are five types of crystals to collect. Greens and blues are rare and pay $1 and $2 each respectively. You need 50 crystals of the red, yellow, orange variety to turn in. They pay $1, $2 and $5 per grouping. Now this sounds like it is almost a worthless activity. I mean 50 crystals to make a linden? BUT, it is also lots of fun. And at the end of a morning, with some practice and a plan, you can make $50 or more. Better than a kick in the pants.

There are various dangers in Tyrah's domain, most notably the rock monsters who patrol a good portion of the land -- especially the crystal fields. While they look friendly enough in patrol mode, they get fierce when they come close to getting you. One of the first rules of Linden Realms is ALWAYS RUN!. Ctrl + R toggles running and you can also use the run icon in your movement control pad.

When you get caught by a rock monster, fall into the toxic water, get flamed by some nasty, seemingly live fireballs etc., you get taken to a nearby resurrection circle. You do not lose any crystals. There is no mandatory rest period.

Sometimes this trip is a "good" thing as it may be close to the area you are heading to. It is also a place that is always safe, so if you want to take a real life break without having to come back through a portal, this is a good place to park yourself. The base camp buildings and close environment are also safe havens. Beware though, not too far from the buildings, the rock monsters patrol.

There are plenty of other places to stay safe. Finding a spot within some sculpties (or even inside) works. Standing close by a big rock most often times will not. Water edges are often safe havens.

Crystals clusters reappear in the same areas. It doesn't take long at all for the less precious one. So sticking around in a relatively secure area and watching the pattern is a good plan. Greens and blue appear in reoccurring spots; it just takes longer.

Each person finds their own adventure in The Realms. It isn't for everyone of course. It is a game within a game. Pick your own challenge. How many crystals can you get in an hour? Can you make it through the cavern without getting sent back to a resurrection circle? How many quests can you complete?

The portals lead to different instances of Tyrah's, but they are all very similar; not quite exact, but with so few differences you probably won't notice.

Nights and Wishes

Nightwish by EMO-tions releases Saturday. The outfit comes with show-stopping hair (horns and chains included) as well as some impressive wings. The set comes with hair sans horns and chains also. Being a minimalist gal I opted for the less dramatic and more romantic version -- wingless, but I wasn't giving up those horns.

Both mystical and queenly, this may be the perfect new release for your role play hours.

Heavy Metal

Egoisme has some new Trendy unisex Leather Pants out! Four patterns (Camo, Giraffe, Zebra (shown) and plain) and three colors (silver (shown) copper, and gold) fills any super star's wardrobe needs. There are prim parts, but I am guessing these will be more popular with the guys than the gals who will want to show off their firm calves -- and thighs of course *wink*.

Hair from EMO-tions, boots from GoS (advent gift) and silver swirl pasties (what gal doesn't need these?) from Lars Workshop. The bikini set these are from is still available on the Marketplace here. And, I was very happy to find that an old Backup folder with ALL the colors of these has reappeared after many months in my inventory. The database gods are mysterious creatures :D. I wonder what else may be there that I have been missing.

Night Magic

No need to limit your style or worry what your mood might be for that special date, Essence from Sascha's Design comes with six choices of skirts plus covered or bare legged glitch pants. I went with the swirling drama of the Grande Flexi Skirt, but there are sleeker options as well as some with even more "look ay me" appeal.

The collar definitely adds a bit of fantasy to the look. My mask from *~*Illusions*~* ( a long ago lucky chair win) seemed perfect for this styling. Who can't use a little mystery in their lives?

PS. I just TPed over to the shop and the mask is still one of the items in the lucky chair (basement).

Cool breezes float in across the bay, teasing the plants -- caressing the fabrics. Paradisis presents Ma Cherie, a darling undies set that comes with both cami and bra. I have always been a cami gal, so my choice was simple. I love the lace and the detailing. So pretty!

This is my new abode, or a view of it anyway. The modern dwelling is completely open a la Caribbean living. Since I have few neighbors and none that ever seem to be here, this works well. Love that view.

Props and Poses Fair 2012

One of the seemingly best kept secrets this week is just where the Props and Poses Fair is located. I am sure that wasn't the plan, but if you are wondering --- it is here.

This super cute "I love veggies crate" is one of the offerings from CONCRETE FLOWERS. Chocked full of all the things I love; well, perhaps not the asparagus *wink* -- it is a great prop for any country gal. It makes me miss my home on the Bayou!

I am wearing a different color of the new release overalls from Leri Miles Designs and Fanny from the Tree hair from KOSH, and oldie but a goodie that I still have in my inventory, but sadly no longer available. I just heard (insert frown here).

A look is only as good as the sum of its parts; and those parts are often made up of accessories. Lots of newness, some free, makes up this casual but somewhat complex styling. My very cute bag is actually the male gift from Salon de Glow and R.A.Crystal. There is a similar lady's version in a variation of the theme. My info is a bit sketchy on this, partly due some some Google translations which as we know are sometimes oblique. But head to one of the stores if you are inclined and see if it is still available. I sized this down a bit. Happily it is manual mod. The lady's version has a black and white print with no scissors.

By now most everyone know of the free hairs at Analog Dog. I posted on them a couple of days ago too. What I didn't realize is that this "quest" style included a hair clip. Every little bit adds to the authenticity of our virtual world.

Also new and free is this cute animal top from Graffitiwear. It is the January Subsciber gift and includes a lower prim part that obviously wouldn't work with my vest -- a past hunt prize from !Ohma. The unisex Aztec Pendant necklace is also from Graffitiwear, a hunt prize in the new For Whatever Hunt. The necklace actually sets higher on the shoulders; I did a little bit of prim adjusting trickery in order to get it to work with the vest :D.

The new year brings with it another color challenge! This week is appropriately champagne, something that a few of you may have imbibed on a bit too much last eve *wink*. Being in the mood for simplicity at least in the work department (having just cleaned up my inventory for the new year) I opened another color of deviousMind's Goodgirl set, making some different choices this time. Not quite so "good" but just as much fun. I added boots from lassitude and ennui and this Finya hair I seem to be very fond of from EMO-tions.

Another Year

It is a new year and I am one year older. An old lady of four greets the morning. Somehow I forgot my rez day yesterday. And no, as Chandra has chided me, I was not bored on New Years Eve 2007; I was actually born in the morning *wink*. It is a bright and sunny day out here by the bridge. Warm enough to go without a sweater, I took a little stroll on the promenade overlooking the bay. My outfit includes the new release sweater set (all one piece) from Elymode. I particularly like the sleeves which are made up of two parts. The set includes striped tights and a choice of mesh or sculpty skirts.

I somehow never got around to featuring this very cute wearable lemonade stand from the Julia Collection. It was (and is still out this morning) a hunt prize for December. It is no secret that I love retro. 1890, 1970 -- they all work for me. Eclectica, maker of fine period accessories has some very cute new releases out. This Little Black Pillbox hat and matching long black gloves could be fairly sedate. I paired them with a more modern and slightly more revealing than the 1960s norm to make a great set that spans decades.

And that's pretty much all you need to know *wink*. Dress from Hot Mood and hair from Pocket Mirrors.

Room With A View

It is time for me to pull up roots again. The Subway will be dismantled at the end of the month to make room for a new artist intent on creation. Knowing that time was short, I spent the afternoon the other day looking at rentals. The story doesn't end there of course and this will be a long post, but since I did ALL that research -- and since my friends seem to think I have some of the "best land karma" around (read that I spend a lot of time researching), I decided to share my top finds. These will all be in the low prim, low rent area. I know that plenty of you are prim rich and many even have whole sims, but for that guys and gals on a budget as well as new arrivals, this one's for you.

Happily I have two new releases to show you on our housing tour, a new peasant blouse from Graffitiwear. It goes perfectly with these overalls from Leri Miles Designs. I love these! Honestly. They come in tons of colors. I picked red purposefully to go with my new decor. My elf boots were one of the advent gifts from Yasum Designs, so hopefully you picked those up along the way. Fun.

So, stop one on our housing tour is an unfurnished flat in London Mayfair. Roomy, white walls with bay windows, a deck overlooking rooftops; it is 100 prims for $150 a week -- 4 week minimum. There are actually two or more of these available.

Darling little snow covered cabins from {what next} complete with holiday festive furnishings are yours for $350 a week with 20 personal prims. Extremely realistic snow adds to the ambiance at Fennville.

A similar cute little cabin in a picturesque village comes furnished with 30 personal prims. Cabins 1,3 and 7 are only $100 a week and FREE until January 7. Rent for four weeks and get one week back. With lots of open space, these are indeed winners. The place? Jasper Island. You can purchase extra prims if needed.

If you are hankering for some place different to live, this very nicely made treehouse is available unfurnished at Butterfly Hollow. There is a hollow tree stump with elevator to the open air living space. Privacy as well as fresh air! $374 per week with 150 prims.

So where did "I" end up? On one of the best view lots of the mainland! Yesterday late afternoon after several hours of video editing, I decided to see what was around land wise. I started at my friend EE's sim which is on the same continent as my long time studio. I found a lot in his sim for something like $120 linden (to buy). I was surprised that the land bots hadn't purchased that.

Anyway, after an hour or so perusing 512s near the water I found a lot with the view of the long suspension bridge. It was cheap (not $120 but definitely a very good buy) and has a protected view looking out at about 20 Linden water and waterfront sims. I have always loved this bridge and had looked at property there in the past (mucho dinero). I can't own land, but I have one real life friend left who has the ability and doesn't use it. So I sent him the purchase price and he will "pay" the tier.

I built and furnished the house and he can stop in when he likes (like almost never - LOL). So a win win situation. The shadows are great. Windlight and the sky and the bridge are hypnotic. I am a happy gal knowing my land karma is still in force.

I really wasn't planning such a bare holiday card *wink*, but when Chandra sent over this big pack of holiday burlesque items, I fell in love with the boas (four styles in all). I zipped over to Winterfell and took this photo quickly as it is chilly in the snow.

Let's Hear It For The Boys!

Newness abounds for the guys today. They often get left out of the mix, hence why there are often a lot of RL guys being SL gals; it's simply easier. Now and then though great items appear on the scene.

This tuxedo is the final Advent gift from Yasum Designs. It comes with some sci-fi styled boots or you can adjust the pants to fit with regular dress shoes. Look for the big present with a "24" on top in front of a giant vendor. You shouldn't have much trouble finding it as there are 11,000 folks in the group. Earlier this morning the lag was so bad no one could get the gift :D.

My other bit of news is this new AO from Vista Animations. It is called The Boss and comes in both basic and fully packed versions. Amazingly, I was buying this newly found AO for my friend EE (of the real life computer repairs drama) when the notecard came in about the release. I had planned on getting him the one I have for Chav, but this one fits him better. I went with the simpler version as EE is a bit behind in SL technology and choices are not a good thing for him *wink*. Hence, wear and leave alone is good.

The new AO has some very manly dances in the "well, I am here and I will dance but really I have my standards" sort of way. Much fun. There is also a talking with hands animation, a chimera etc. So this basic AO is not really all that basic -- just not so many choices of stands and walks and such.

You can of course try out all the animations before buying but there are also shapes included in the pack, so a perfect fit is assured.

I love Alchemy Immortalis. I can even remember my very first visit -- long ago. If you are one of those folks that waits to decorate until just before Santa comes, then you are in luck. You can pick up an assortment of trees as well as lots of styles of ornaments, for free, here in the Christmas store. I am thinking that these were available last year, but if you are new or missed them (or had your inventory deleted by the database gods) then you are in luck.

There are so many lovely presents around the grid, it is difficult to pick your favorites let alone pick them all up *wink*. Still, here is a wrap up of a few that you might not want to miss. First up and not to be a secret for long is the new gift skin pack from Laqroki. Ebba not only comes in the pale wintry shade on the vendor; there are two darker tones. This is the middle value called "peach". A very pretty skin with cool blue eye shadow and pale lips; Ebba definitely qualifies as wintry. Hit the subscribo to pick up this pack of six skins.

There seems to be a zillion hunts this month, way too many to explore fully. The Diamond is Mine hunt (version 3) seems to have lots of impressive goodies, two being the makings of this crimson military outfit. A bit of holiday flavor tempers the austerity making this an impressive find. The outfit including a short skirt version as well as a long skirt sans sword hales from Shade. The boots are right next door albeit about ten stops away on the trail; find them at Drakke. This is an extremely well-crafted outfit, so if it looks like your style -- you know the drill. Find the diamonds and get the goodies.

Angelwing has a gorgeous new release, perfect for frolicking in the forest *wink*. And, even if you don't frolic, it is still delightful. I have a lot of Angelwing outfits in my virtual closet. Most are from last year and still holding there own design-wise, always a good thing. So when I found this free (did I mention FREE ?) outfit in the archives of a blogger group today, I was happy to have a new costume to unpack.

Here is the hunt info from the notecard. Honestly? I am a bit surprised I haven't seen this on the feeds. But the Angelwing fans appear to be out in force nevertheless as I see lots of green dots at the shop as I type.

Can It Be Spring?

It isn't really Spring of course, and I am quite content in the snow -- for awhile at least. Still, this new Advent gift from Urbanized via the KittyCatS board had me thinking in those greener terms this morning. My jeans are a previous KittyCatS advent gift from Callie Cline and the very pretty necklace was or will be a 12 Days present from Bliensen + MaiTai. Their gift giving event is in conjunction with .::La Flat::.. From the info that I have, I am guessing that a gift appears one day at one shop and the next day at another. They are only available for 24 hours. Now, I admit to dropping the ball on this event. Many deliveries seem to be failing these days and I only just now found the review copies while looking back over blogger group archives. Still, you have a 50% chance to pick this up :D. There are plenty of other nice presents too, but this is definitely my favorite.

Back to the gift from Urbanized, I can tell you that it is 47 prims (or impact as the new viewer states) with lots and LOTS of texture change options -- all in the neutrals category. Virtually every surface has texture options (well I don't think the pine cone does, but you get the idea). Easy to use and menu driven, it is fun to play. There are poses on pillows as well as a cuddling your cat animation for the rug. This is a no copy item and you can only pick up one package from KittyCatS so be sure and "accept". If you have an alt, you might want to send them over (Yeah Lani!) to get a backup copy.

A new skin is just out from Akeruka. Kia is young and perky with a shyness that is quite endearing. There is a new skin out for the guys also.

My hair is an on the wall freebie that I picked up at Dark Mouse yesterday. There are three packs of Buy for $0 hairs to find. Peruse the other hairs while you search as they are on sale at a very good price.

Drama in Black

There is a contest going on over at the Rue d' Antibes Flickr page. Now, we don't know what the prizes are yet (oh my) but it is still fun to enter. When I opened up this new oh-so-dra-ma-tic dress from eXxEsS, I couldn't resist heading over to take a few shots.

Now this isn't exactly a dress you would go dancing in. It is bold, eye-catching and makes a statement; but it is not the friendliest to walk in. Still, if you want an artistic photo that gets some attention, this is up there at the top of my list. And, the good news for us non-ballroom gals is that you can detach the voluptuous skirt and have a sharp looking jumpsuit. The jewelry goes perfectly and is definitely in that notice me category too.

And here is the fashion shot without the blue Rue globe (mandatory for the contest :D). The outfit comes with either silver or gold accents.

Bundling Up

My subway installation will be closing in less than two weeks. Time does fly. I'll miss the rainy sidewalks and spectral denizens but moving forward is most always the best plan. And I have started on a new project already. Meanwhile, it is good to come back and visit, cementing memories.

Winter can be dreary at times, but this new poncho set from Gwen Carillon Designs can lift your spirits with a mix of muted blues and greens. A cosy poncho is the key piece of the set. Soft and comfy leggings work great with your favorite boots.

My slightly modded umbrella is a great find on the Marketplace. I came across it while looking for sculpt maps for my new project. For just a buck you get a nice umbrella with two poses. Click the umbrella to change from open to closed and back again. Click the handle to change textures. Manually mod what you like. Hard to beat, this gift is from Silk Aeon, presumably a distant cousin *wink*.

And, you can still be color coordinated when you move to warmer territory. Just take off the poncho and you have a nice hoodie sweater!

Walk With Me

While I have a few very nice new release items to show you, I opted -- in part -- for time sensitive advent gifts. Well, ONE anyway. I love these jeans! Only in retrospect did I realize that this is happily one of the holiday gift spots that let you pick up items anytime. So no excuses for you. Get over to La Rosa "sometime" and pick up number 17. There is a guys version in the pack as well; I am guessing it is similar :D. My tank (billed as a dress but really really short *wink*) is from Beautiful Dirty Rich, one of three colors in a big pack on the Hardcore: XXX-Mas Hunt.

In other news, I am wearing the new Liane skin from Amacci. Now many of you have met Liane in "grayish" form as a hunt gift on the POE Hunt (earth globe). This is a really pretty skin and definitely one of my favorite releases from Amacci.

Lily is the hair style name, also from Amacci. While I am not really in the hairbase camp -- says she of flowing locks -- it definitely shows off this skin nicely. And that works for me.

My necklace and earrings are a new weekend release as part of a full costume set at EMO-tions where it seems VERY busy at the moment. Get out there and fight those gals in your dose of lag enjoyment.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock (or deep in computer repair) you know that one of the hottest Lucky Boards is at Bukka, This great coat is up for grabs on one of three boards at the shop. No need to worry about finding the location; just look for the green dots.

I, of course, haven't had the time this week to wait for my letter to come up, but a few of my friends were lucky enough to garner the prize. I can attest to its loveliness. It is well worth the board watch.

A quick post -- after 24 hours of computer repair, there are a dozen more to go. Thank goodness for my RL friend "EE" who did way more than he should have! Not complaining.

This new release from Sassy seemed to fit that city lifestyle of the Advent gift from Yasum Designs.

The complete living room set / pose prop is a current gift (#14 or #15) at the shop. Two bits of good news there. The items shown are separate for the most part so you can use the decor items that fit your space. AND all the group Advent gifts at Yasum are up for the duration. So no hurrying.

Life in SL is quite different on a six year old notebook and 1.23.5 *wink*. With a beautiful new 27 inch monitor that I love I was in heaven for a couple of days, but either Windows or hard drive (still working on which) are no longer viable. POE4 Hunt - 5

This is the finale of my POE4 posts. Many thanks to Sami for finishing up for me. The big hit for her was this ice fishing shack which also has a great pot belly stove inside. The fishing animations are stellar.

The hole in the floor and ice is linked into the cabin, but the fish barrel and crates are separate and easily movable. Beautiful textures. I will definitely need to go hunt for this.

Other nice gifts include holiday housewares and this modern elf outfit which comes with striped stockings.

Well all love presents and the majority of us also like to shop. You can put the two together Saturday as the Rue D'Antibes South Side Market opens its doors. Well, actually there ARE no doors *wink*, only stalls; but you get the idea. Gifts under the tree, sales and snow. All good.

So Sorry - and a Little B*tching

So today for the second time a reader commented on a post (in a friendly like manner which I do appreciate) to let me know that the link I had pasted in led them astray. They were correct -- both of them; both times.

Many apologies.

Here is the deal, and it isn't new and it isn't just my issue. The map is not happy. We've known that for a long time. These days I click SEVERAL times on the map button to get the map to actually show the place where I am or where the link is supposed to go. Then I copy to the clipboard - again with a few clicks. EVENTUALLY the CORRECT SLURL shows up in the blogger link box. These days I am very conscious of that. I honestly don't see how these links are wrong when I see the correct SLURL in the box. But they are.

This isn't the most mysterious thing to happen in SL, but it is definitely frustrating. It could be the viewer, but since this is not a new problem for me I am guessing it is not.

Anyway, the WINTER HOLIDAY VILLAGE (where I am currently standing as I type) is the whole sim of PROHIBITION.

Waiting Patiently

One thing about blogging forever is that titles become more elusive. Post 2300 is sneaking up on me and Blogger remembers all my previous titles thankfully and saves me from EXACT repeats.

This morning on the cool foggy bridge of Edo Japan finds me in a mix of new releases and a freebie.

The Waiting 4 U coat by Beautiful Dirty Rich is part of a huge style pack which includes dress (worn here as a tuck in top) corset, nylons, boots and so many layers it is daunting.

I paired the BDR goodies with some great pants from today's Advent present at Yasum (group). The complete gift includes red holiday sweater and boots. There is a pack sized for guys also. Shoes are a new release from Kalnins featured a few times this week.

I really like this new Ballet Hair from Pomme d' Amour. It is simple and classic but interesting enough to deserve a second glance.

While I had no need in this styling, it appears to be very much in the "hat hair" category and I am always happy to find great styles that will work with chapeaus!

POE4 Hunt - 3

Back on the trail of the current POE hunt, I found myself marveling at how big our world has become. True, I have heard that there are less folks than in the recent past, but compared to four years ago when I came into our virtual land, it seems immense. I had a fun time this morning hunting although I have to admit that I spent an inordinate amount of time watching shadows; so happy to have them back.

My outfit is a mix of two gifts; the coat, gloves and boots hale from MEB -- the oh so cute hat and mouth mitten from Troubled Rebel. The two chairs in the background are part of the gift from PALAIS Fantasy Castle Furniture. Now the green chair currently has an issue with a missing pose, so I would wait a day or so before heading over. I have let the designer know. Those things happen :D. These are no copy chairs so if you want two of a matching color, be sure and click that globe twice.

Some of my personal favorites of this hunt include items that are not in the holiday color palette *wink*. Shown here is a fun lounger from Scandinavian Designs. LOTS of poses which of course place in you different spots. /1a positioning and a menu that let's you know which pose you are currently using. This is a no copy item :D. The rug and wall art which coordinates nicely are from NzuriHome. I love text art!

And if you have been thinking I have added post processing snowflakes to my post here -- nope! The beautiful, evenly dispersed falling flakes come from the outdoor lantern you see in the foreground. At only four prims, it is a bargain that also gives light. Find it at Hearth and Home.

Now you know I am not a big fan of fancy dresses other than period garb which to me seems more like costuming that everyday wearables, but I really love this simple yet dramatic gown from Dressed by Lexi.

My backdrop is a large and quite magical build from Sterling Artistry. The Serenity Pavilllion includes a birdbath as well as a transparent guard (removable) for use in the sky.

Advent Favorites - Day 6

Two great holiday gifts for Day 6 of Advent. First up is this complete snowy landscape from Yasum Designs. The building a snowman animation is outstanding and has two spots if you have a buddy that likes to play. The linked, no mod environment is open to the sky and can be used on the ground or placed up on a pad. There is even a stone bridge that leads in and out of the area. I found a couple of pose issues (things not working correctly) but you can always rez your own pose balls. It measures a bit more than my 40 x 40 meter working pad and is only 45 prims.

My jeans and boots are the Day 6 Advent gift from LaRosa. A set for guys is also included. Theirs are sans socks. The resizer in the guys version isn't working quite right but they look like a good size to fit most fellows. There is also a set of four transferable snow globes that you can give to friends or keep for yourself.

My cute winter hat is from Blah on the MOH hunt (screwdriver). Sweater is a recent release from Paradisis.

POE Hunt - 2

With no time for major hunting today, I still managed to find a beautiful POE Hunt gift. With so many vendors taking part, it seems like they are at your fingertips even when you aren't trying -- and that isn't a bad thing. My lovely necklace and earring set, just one of many great jewelry gifts from the POE trail, is from WTG -- number 47 on the tour. It was difficult to miss that they were part of the hunt as a model displayed this as well as other goodies at the landing point. There are other gifts to be had, so pay attention to her floating text as you enter :D.

My outfit, minus the tank, is from GIZZA on the POE. I have already deleted their hunt number but they are somewhere between 100 and 150 *wink* and really, what's in a number. The set is very high quality and you could easily wear the jacket with a dress and the jeans with something more casual. Multipurpose is a good thing in my book.

Mystery

Still in the striking monochromatic group gift Eris skin from AKERUKA (see last night's post for info) I took an exploration trek in the pre dawn hours. My outfit, the new Coppelia release from Blue Blood, definitely set the mood. A Gothic Cabaret style, it is definitely dark and quite mysterious. The sleeves are asymmetrical with one boasting feathers. Colorful touches (all the Blue Blood favorites to choose from) pierce the dark black. The gloves are showpieces in themselves. An open tiered skirt is mid calf to ankle length depending on your height.

A Touch of Mystery

Two dramatic bits of newness form the headlines of this post. First up is this Akeruka group skin gift for the winter fair. Find it at their shop at the fair. I really love this almost monochrome skin. So dramatic. Quite beautiful and a perfect compliment for my Dark Style Eyeshadow (eclipse) from KOSH.

And if you want to continue with that drama, how about a little night magic with a new release from EXxEsS called Magik? I haven't been to EXsEsS in awhile, but I do remember my trips there in the past. I logged in a lot of blog posts with their designs and I am very happy to reconnect. I have one stellar free hair from my almost newbie days in my inventory. It still comes in handy from time to time *wink*. This is an impressive outfit. Definitely dangerous.

And on a photography note, I am not sure why this photo turned out to be so high in contrast. I don't have a facelight on and it is completely unretouched. The good news is that I really like the DRA-MA of the light and dark.

Advent Favorites - Day 4

It is really white out there! Three great advent gifts for Saturday. Arm warmers (a set with mittens is also included) and scarf from MALT at KittyCats.

A complete skydome with house, snowy trees and reindeer is the gift from D'n'C through the SLinfo Adventsgeschenk. It is 100 x 100 but parts can be used if you don't have all that space. The lovely pines are only two prims and the roomy house includes a turquoise kitchen, vacuum an ironing board.

My personal favorite of the day is a wearable snowfield from 22769. Animated, it makes some lovely and dramatic effects for film and photographs. I kept the lighting high here so you could see the other gifts. The pose comes with the snowfield.

Newness - Freeness - Art

Sunday at 1 pm is the official reception for The Subway, my installation at LEA. I invited a few friends and sent in an event notice to search thinking of intimate conversations about machinima and building *wink*. The LEA announcement, however, included the term "gala" (what was I thinking?), so I decided I better go along with that theme. I dug out my tuxedo outfit from a year or so ago, found my homemade (happily black) furniture from my LEARN AVATAR days and eventually discovered my champagne giver from the defunct gallery. The beautiful dessert tray is not of my making; just for impressiveness and to remind us that its OK to have sugar now and then.

So here is the bribe, you freebie loving fans. Come by during the reception and pick up the Rodeo Blvd necklace (chest and spine attachments) as well as some simple stud earrings. They will ONLY be available during the reception -- so an hour or so from 1 PM. You will need to click on the ticket booth sign to teleport to the installation.

On with my story:

My original tux outfit, a mix of several designer's work, was in good shape still for an older design. The footwear though was beyond its prime, definitely passe. Happily, a new design from KALNINS had arrived a day or so ago; perfect! The Scarlett boots are definitely dressy enough for a gala. If you read this blog regularly, you know the KALNINS design model. Fatpacks of 12 color changes or mini packs with 3 basic colors.

PARTS can be changed so you can make multicolor shoes to go with your outfits. I went right to work and changed soles and main shoe body parts to black and accented with gray bows and piping. VERY pretty. I went a little wild and chose violet nail polish! As always, these are gorgeously made with unbelievable detailing. So if this is your style, hop on over and try on a demo.

Is it a movie set trying to be an installation? Or an installation that became a movie set? Even the creator isn't quite sure.

In her own words:

"First there was the idea of a subway station, people passing by never seeing each other, never knowing who they were standing next to. Then the idea turned into an installation with spectral beings inhabiting The City. Are they memories? Chances missed? Future opportunities? That's up to the viewer to decide. "

POE4 Hunt - 1

The forth annual Peace on Earth hunt headed by Sequoia Nightfire is underway. I was a vendor in at least two previous hunts, maybe three -- history gets a little foggy for me in SL. Yesterday I started my hunting and gathering at the midpoint. These are just a few of the great things you can find in the stops between 100 and 150. I have kept more than I am showing which is not the norm. Some great items have been left out of this post as they have already received a lot of press, hence you probably know about them already.

At the top of my personal favorites for this leg of the adventure is the BoHo HoBo patched sweater, so very "me"! And what's a boho gal without a little retro furniture -- holiday style at that? This Peaceful Music set (plant not included) from Axo's, Elemental Motifs is perfect in my short term but very cozy abode up in the snow drenched sky -- appropriate for my rustic cabin up in the virtual Sangre de Cristo mountains. There is a very pretty square New Mexico style rug that goes with this set. The pieces are all separate so you can easily mix and match to accommodate your space and style.

No question about it, this coat with oh-so-darling matching shoes is a showstopper. Find them at PurpleMoon Creations.

I love this retro dress from Luziefee. Way too sexy to be "cute", the little poodles in the print take us back to simpler times. The shoes and very pretty but so delicate they are almost impossible to photograph earrings are from Ear Candy.

There are plenty of decor items, furniture and even skyboxes in this hunt. Shown at right are two holiday themed accessories. The Dancing Candle hales from ThistleWick Designs and the Makin Snowmen globe is from Grumble.

While not everyone had their items out yesterday eve, you can use the blog list to move on. Most of the globes are easy enough to find and I did come home with many of them. A few are tricky, but I found none -- in this section anyway -- that were "nasty". That makes me very happy.

The quality of the vendors and the generous gifts makes this the best POE hunt in my memory. So go out and hunt for some earth globes!

And while it didn't make it into this post, you might want to know that there is a wearable reindeer (resizeable) with brushing animation (for the wearer - not the reindeer :D) at Circus Noir.

Advent Favorites - Day 2

I am not planning on showing you my favorite Advent gifts EVERY day *wink*, but it is the start of the season so when I find something I think you might not want to miss, I promise to let you know. Up today are four presents for Day 2. Note that "day 2" starts at different stores at different times. I am planning on checking things out in my morning which seems to be the same day for everyone.

Advent Favorites - Day 1

And my personal winner is this wearable sleigh with polar bears and built in lighting. Talk about AFKing in style!
It hales (I am not sure if this is the day 1 or day 2 prize as there is no number) from Blooming Tales OMC which is one of the German shops with the white boxes and Santa hat. Now I am not terrifically clear about where to look for tomorrow's prize. It seems like it should be in one of two places the teleporter reaches as the rest of the sim looks residential. But I am certainly going to see if I can find it *wink*.

I am wearing the Amacci skin from the Peace On Earth Hunt, definitely a hit from all the blog posts I have seen. And this is the Graffitiwear sweater I showed you this morning in gray.

Let There Be Shadows

Now I know it looks like I have bags under my eyes this morning and I probably do. I have been up since 4 AM. But, look! I have shadows. I even have Depth Of Field. All in all this is amazing after eight months of TRYING :D. The new Firestorm viewer came out last night. So far it is working great for me. Now to be fair there is some odd little "line" thing going on with the DOF, but since I don't plan to run with it all all the time, no worries.

So before I head back to bed for a few more hours of sleep, I wanted to document the change in my life. What better way than ice skating in Winterfell. My sweater is a very pretty and feminine release from Graffitiwear.

My skates are available in three colors and best of all they are FREE on the Marketplace. They skate nicely, but my poses here are from aDORKable in the POE Hunt (earth globe). These are some VERY nice poses. So get out there and do a little hunting.

Cosy Sweaters for Two

Both Lani and I have been out hunting the last few days. Sadly, I can't say I found much to report to you with enthusiasm. New hunts start in just a few hours of course and that is great news. Meanwhile, one item that both Lani and I agreed on was this great sweater from Blanche's Boutique on the Dirty Turkey Hunt (orange feather). Now I can't say that this was an EASY feather to find. Look BEHIND things for sure *wink*, but the prize is great. Actually I saw lots of cute items in the shop so be sure and peruse while you are hunting. We are both dressed in a Northwest Grunge style here which is fairly appropriate considering where the typist lives. I will of course be changing soon, but I think Lani has found her style and will never be a fashionista. That's really OK by me.

My hair and hat is Steve from Emo-tions. I can't tell exactly from the notecard if this is new or on sale this weekend, but if you like it, guy or gal, stop by the shop and check it out.

Winter Whites

I logged in this morning to find a huge winter collection from AD Creations. Now I can't say that many of her items are something I would wear on a daily basis, but they get lots of points for creativity - LOTS *wink*. They are also very winter themed including the white skin, perfect for a quick trip to Winterfell, my favorite of the seasonal sims.

The outfit above is called Miss Christmas Skeleton. It definitely makes a striking photo in the late dusky afternoon.

This is one of two winter skins available. These are "doll" outfits, but as long as you like the slightly bizarre, you can mix them into your everyday style.

My boots are from Prim and Pixel, not new but still available in many colors.

Dolls

It seems like years ago, but was in fact only a few months, when I wrote a somewhat philosophical post on the entrance of MESH into Second Life. One of my theories was that the real power of mesh -- something that would induce folks to move into Meshland *wink* would be full avatars. That has indeed come to pass and was most likely well under way when I wrote my original post. But today, thanks to fellow blog queen, Jule Lemondrop, I saw an outstanding example of my musings.

I didn't get over to *DOLLCOCO* until this early eve. It is even higher in the sky than I thought we could go -- and that seems pretty fitting for this lofty enterprise :D. As a photographer I was blown away at the entrance. I didn't even need to see the dolls to be impressed, I was entranced with the "sets". Well, they are not really SETS, but that is how I think these days, most often in movie making mode.

Eventually I made my way to the spot where you can pick up free doll bodies (group tag activation). There are both white and dark bodies. I was actually leaning towards the dark version, but at the moment there is only one dark head. Still, ya know I picked it up for the future.

There are a good number of faces (whole heads actually) to choose from. This is Lena. In order to become a doll, you deprim, add a full alpha mask invisibility layer and then put on all the doll parts -- arms and legs and such. Heads can be switched depending on your mood. You can use your same avatar hair. This jester costume -- so fitting for my photo shoot -- is also free as a group gift.

Doll heads come in a set with both open and closed eyes. These are beautifully made, so if you have played at being a doll somewhere in your SL lifetime and want to take that to the next level -- now is your chance.

Me? I am thinking about how to work this into my next movie -- ah inspiration.

There are some great looking doll only clothes and shoes in the shop too. You need specialty attire for these dollies. Even if you aren't too interested in being a doll from time to time, get over to the shop and just wander. That is an impressive journey in itself.

Later note: You may find that it is difficult to RETURN to your previous shape. Scary, but logging out and logging in fixed it for me. Even though you change to a new shape the position of your various parts (arms, thighs, calves etc.) seem to "stick". Be sure you have an outfit saved that you can transfer into. I had MANY and eventually got back to "me" :D.

Lani is updating her look as time goes by. Today she found a new skin (3 in a pack and free) from *Step inSide*. Find the coat hanger hunt object to garner three makeups in each of three tones AND the tga files. Her new necklace with matching earrings (worn but hiding under all that hair) are a group gift from NHA!. It is a small shop with some outstanding Boho-esce designs.

These very impressive and difficult to miss grunge boots are from Death Row Designs on the group Midnight board. A quick check tonight showed 25 spots left before the witching hour deadline. So if this is your style, get over there.

Meet Alba; Alba 06 Dark to be exact. A new release from Akeruka and on sale along with the rest of the store for the 25,26 and 27. This is a beautiful skin -- a bit knowing, a bit ethereal. The skins come with eyebrow tattoos so you can coordinate with your hair color. I have never worn this shade of my Luna hair from Magika, but wearing the red eyebrows convinced me to give it a try.

I am really liking Alba. I think I will give her a few days try out. You know I don't switch skins easily *wink*, but she is pretty seductive. ALSO, the group join fee is down to zero for the same time period. And you know what that means? You can try out that dollarbie group gift skin I featured a few days ago. There is one for guys too.

My very feminine undies are a new release from Paradisis. Sweet Sugar is the style name.

The wintery -- thank goodness we don't get cold in SL -- backdrop is the new sky surround and yard I built today; it will be home for the next month on the LEA. I still (amazingly) have enough prims to furnish the house. I have never had this many prims before! (insert big smile here).
