In the Land of Gachas

It has been two and a half months now that gachas became legal once more.

Interested in the historical aspects and what the future might bring I watched fairly closely.   Honestly?  I didn't seem many changes.  At least one gacha event showed up but the big names didn't join the reunion.

Until now!

A long time gacha event opened it doors somewhere around the 25th of July.  That at least is when the event reappeared in the Destination Guide under "recently added". Not surprisingly it has been packed as I type this.   I do intend to get over and see what's up there but until then here are some thoughts.

I don't think gachas will ever be as popular as in the past.  Once the momentum was lost, the conveyor systems in place and the big monthly events mostly closing -- it was a road downhill. To be fair that road was already in a decline; I quit making gacha sets long before the method of sales became illegal.  It was simply a matter of effort versus reward and the rewards HAD been great at one time.

I thought about putting up my gacha machines again but decided it wasn't worth the effort.  Most folks are buying on the Marketplace or at events with inworld stores being left behind.

This isn't a bad thing or a good thing really -- just a change. I am not sure how long gachas were in evidence the first time around.  I know my first ones were for On9 and that was a LONG time ago -- like a decade.

By Saturday late evening entry was easy.  A few of the folks offering goods in the past were still in attendance.  Some new names with a smattering of nice looking Home and Garden products, bits of clothing and as suspected a lot of "cutie" stuff.   Some of the brands I would have expected to see were absent.  No copy full set boxes were in evidence and fewer machines meant fewer choices.

Go forth and play if that is your thing or take note of the gacha set name and venture over to the secondary market on the official marketplace.
