Back Doors

How many times have you lived in a house where the "backdoor" was the main door?  It often leads into the kitchen in small houses or sometimes a mud - utility room in others.  It was a more comfortable way of coming home for some and an easy way for neighbors to pop by to borrow a cup of sugar. 

We have lost a lot of that over the years -- at least in my area of the fleshy world but both of my neighbors use their secondary exits as the main.  Old town and pretty old houses likely dictate a part of that choice.  

There is sometimes a deck connect to our rear portals. My little house has that and I spend a lot of time out there in the summer and indeed it is my favorite place to entertain a small group of friends.  

The Troyes Cottage features a one story open plan with big rooms and plenty of windows.
