SL House and Garden New Home

Earlier today I let you know that the SL House and Garden group will be opening their new sim to the public on Friday.

Again, here is the official release.

I spent some time there this afternoon chatting briefly with the sim designer, pitsch Parx. Clean, bright, welcoming and peaceful;  the outside sim additions make it seem like the village goes on forever.

A giant atrium shelters a mini forest and landscaping supplies. Wide walkways lead from one home store to another.

Click collages once or twice for some really big photos :D.

My favorite discovered spot is the blogger hangout where you can gaze at the distant mountains and let your cares fall away. There are plenty of great shops to wander through, most names you will readily recognize. Some stores are large, some small. It is a friendly mix with something for everyone.

Be sure and stop by soon.

Things That Go Bump in the Night

In just a few hours the calender will flip a page and turn to October.  And I personally proclaim it Halloween season. Halloween, Samhain, Day of the Dead -- magical times for fun, reflection and remembrance; a time when the  dead can reach back through the veil that separates them from the living. A time for candy and laughter and smiling children.

While there will surely be an abundance of wonderful new themed accessories, the season is just beginning; hence some of my outfit is from years gone by. Newness consists of my clothing, the MHOH4 gift from Rfrye.and my hair  from Amacci. My witchy makeup a gift from Chandra on one of her brief sojourns inworld. I am not sure if this is a deviousMind group gift, something she is selling or simply a fun creative exercise. No matter, I love it and will certainly wear it often. My hat is actually one of the Witch Hunt artifacts that I attached to my now stylishly witchy head *wink*.

The levitating broom is an oldie from Little Heaven. The pose doesn't fit me all that well (Photoshop enabled here) but it flies wonderfully. Thanks to all the creators, past present and future, who make this season so memorable.

Let's have a great October!

Looking Forward

October, traditionally the fastest paced month with the most celebrated holiday in SL, is bound to be a busy time. Lots of wonderful events are on the horizon including a ton of hunts -- and the new SL Home and Garden sim opening. I don't know the particulars of SLH&G's new digs, only that it will be open to the public tomorrow and that designers have been scoping it out. I might be able to get in with my blogger group tag *wink*, but I have NO idea where it is. The old sim is for sale now, so I'll just have to wait for an official announcement.

Update: Here is the scoop.

While we are waiting to see the newness that unfolds, I want to show you this darling little garden shed -- a gift from Funky Junk's Ulaa Coronet. With no in world store at the moment, it was especially nice of her to send out this gift. So cute and only 40 prims. While there isn't a lot of room to move around inside, it is a wonderfully picturesque addition to grasslands or a cute outbuilding for your estate. She has some items on Xstreet, so look up her profile or store if you want to see more items. There are some darling designs!

The hoodies shown here are from SD Wears and come in styles for guys also and in teal and yellow as well a pink and gray. My poses of the morn are from a new shop, Gesticulate! owned by two of our bloggers, Gidge Uriza  and Elusyve Jewell. There are poses for both gals and guys in the shop as well as many dollarbie and gift poses.

Last Train

I was in a traveling mood this morning. I enjoy trains and have often lived nearby tracks in real life. I love the sounds of wanderlust, the different toots of the engineers -- some very close to music. So I put on some new duds, added a few favorite accessories and headed for the station.

When I typed "train" in my inventory search pane, I noted that Silent Sparrow was in the list. Remembering that one of my favorite winter sims closes tomorrow, I definitely wanted to take one more shot in this richly detailed steampunk locale.

My cute top is actually a mini dress from E!  Eclectic Apparel and Accessories. Happily it comes in all layers and so easily tucks into my cute new Chris Crops from Mischief. I have a little disclosure about the top -- there is a slight seam issue on one side of the collar. So if you always wear short hair and are a picky, picky gal -- now you know. I love the cut and the muted tones of the print. It wasn't a hardship for me to wear my hair down for the day, especially when I had some great new long hairs from Amacci to choose from.

The top  and pants are both available in a large variety of colors. This pairing coordinates perfectly with my Maitreya coin belt, an oldie that I am very happy to be digging out of my closet for yet another season. Classic A-Bomb Khitten color change shoes and bracelets from Pacadi|Jasha finalize the look.

Crystalline Music

You and the night and the music. What could be more perfect?

Adding a great little clubbing dress couldn't hurt. This Chandra mini from Mischief with its swirly prim skirt is perfect for dancing the night away. Indeed, I did a little out on the town adventuring before I remembered that my new next door neighbor had a club and a pretty one at that.

So even though I am here alone, just me and the sultry jazz and the moonlight; I am a smiling.

Why? Because I look great!

The mini and shrug are sold separately, but work very well together. Actually I picked out the shrug first. It is sure to be a wardrobe staple going from day to night -- casual to dressy. The mini is strapless with nicely textured front seams. It comes in multiple layers so it can do double duty as a tuck in top with pants!

Both shrug and dress come in a variety of colors.

GizzA - Red Zone - Guys

GizzA also has a gift for the guys, a light gray sweater and cords set. The pants are mod for easy fitting inside boots or if you like your garments on the lose side.

The sweater has a skull drawing in the same style on the back. It comes on the jacket layer.

Yes, this is the beefcake shot, but I also wanted you to see the nice shading on the pants. Yes, I did. Honest! This is not just gratuitous nudity :D.

GizzA - Red Zone

Gizza has some great new free outfits. Find them  towards the left (guys)  and right (gals) in the entrance lobby on large posters that say -- FREE *wink*.  Don't let the lure of the other outfits deter you from clicking those vendors as you stroll by. There are two outfits for the women and one for the guys.  See the next post for the fellow's outfit. This is the mini version of PurpleMoon. A long flowing multilayered babydoll skirt is also included as well as some beads.

I went with the mini for my style of the afternoon and as I was dressing I remembered a fun necklace from Ticky Tacky called Reform School Dropout. It is so not new, but I never had the chance to wear it much, it being purple, black and white. And the mini?  Woot! A perfect pairing.

Looking for a locale, I shuffled though some bookmarked SLURLs and ended up at The Atropine in the Red Zone. Now this is a war zone although not role play as far as I can tell. Not exactly where I was planning on going, but photogenic in its own way and definitely attention getting -- just like the PurpleMoon mini.  So "tough girl" pose folder at the ready, I took my shots.

There is also  a more casual gals outfit called Butterfly that includes some decorated jeans (plaid bows and flowers) and a cute tank.

My hair is one of a big new release set from Amacci -- all long hairs, some with bangs some without.

Pink Skied Delta Blue

Sometimes there is nothing sexier than a tough "little girl". The new release from Fierce definitely fills the bill.  This is not my normal style and yet it somehow worked for me. A little too much maybe? Well only my therapist will have the answer to that *wink*.

If I look for defining characteristics of attraction, I find that  the skirt gets a big thumbs up. In the simplest form, because it works -- at least for my slim hips. I am so very tired of those little prim pieces in skirts that just don't cut it any longer. We need a change and this is a good one. It is short but not so much that you feel you MUST wear pants with it. Leggings or slim jeans would certainly be a choice, but even I, the pants queen, opted for bare legs for this shoot!

The outfit comes in several colors but just one layer (jacket for the shirt and undies for -- well the undies). I originally chose the green version, but I felt it really needed a belt stylewise and pink was what my drawers offered, so pink it was.

I also really like the sleeve prims, different than what I have seen in the past. They offer a casually messy, on the run feel that I find appealing. You might also note if you look carefully at the high rez versions of the photos, that the plaids of the prims and the fabric match very closely in scale -- something we don't see all that often unfortunately.

Walking the Bridge

Some more stops in the Mornin' Sunshine Hunt garnered me a few fun items including some poses from [croire] and some very pretty earrings from Frippery -- neither shown here. After several stops I was stuck and with no SLURL to the shops in the hunt (or even a list of hunt participants that I could find) I abandoned my searching.

Before the end of the trail though, I picked up  a cute jacket and shirt (all one layer) from ANCAYI, a new to me store. The tennis shoes came from the same shop in another hunt. Now, most of you have a pair of these "same" tennis shoes in your closet I suspect, but the fabric on these is very cute and there are some additional prim details which caught my eye. The jacket has a logo space on the back and as we often know that is a hint this design could be based on a "T". I have no positive intel on this as I haven't seen the style before *wink*.

The jacket and shirt are actually part of a dress. I abandoned the pants layer, skirt prim and  belt and added some faded jeans from the floor of my closet. Since it tends to get cold out there on the breezy bridge I brought along a prim parka in a boldly coordinating red.

Good Morning Sunshine

Up with the sunrise, I unpacked a hunt prize that I found by accident while over at the Little Boxes store. This super cute  shelf was the prize.

I don't have a kitchen a the moment, but it looks really nice in my friend's place - a Y House group gift. Number 6 on the Mornin' Sunshine Hunt, it is a cutie. I grabbed some old favorites from my closet and my new favorite jeans and I'm heading out to see what other fun things I might find on that hunt. I'll need to hurry a bit, but Cal will keep me awake. He is a good kitty even though he sleeps a lot.

Have You Read Your TOSes Lately ?

I noted this eve as I was perusing some of the feeds I am syndicated on that there were a lot of "not for the office" photos. When I joined the feeds I make reference to, it was clearly stated that the nudity thing was a no-no. Now, personally? I don't care a bit. I mean a naked avatar is in fact a naked AVATAR *wink* and if someone is so into that --- well you get the point.

Still, I went to the JOIN pages and found that that "in the office" reference was no longer there. So for all you bloggers that are on lots of feeds -- it might be a good time to take a look at the rules again.

Maybe we CAN get naked.

Note that the absence of clothes is not my goal here, just want those of you who like be in the buff to realize you may no longer be breaking rules.

Don'tcha love it?!?

And here I was being so PG in my last post.

New Shuz

I got me some new shuz. Cool, free shuz from Deviant Designs on the Miracels of Autumn Hunt. Look for a cute fantasy snail and you can have a pair too. If I remember correctly he was in Fall colors :D. I only found the snail by accident when looking for another hunt prize, but that works. Always keep your eye out for things that seem out of place. You never know -- sometimes they are hunt objects.

So this is me, hair and shoes (new shoes) in my new abode. I don't Plurk but I thought the theme was worth attempting. Actually all I did was take off my clothes (something Chandra says I simply love to do - her opinion of course) and change my Windlight setting.

And here are the shoes. They come with hud, viewer 2 alpha layer and invisiprim options. If you only have one attachment per point as I do, these will not work with some pant bottom layers. Short skirts? You bet.

Gray Dawn

Like a lot of folks, I have been in an Autumn frame of mind. Too many days of the same garb, however, makes for boredom -- not only for me but for you too *wink*. How far away can we move from warm tones and falling leaves?  This is pretty far.

My outfit started with a hunt prize from *Deviant Designs*. There are several hunts going on there at the moment and more to start soon. This low backed dramatic number is from the Witches Brew Hunt. You are looking for a tiny black cauldron and this one is tricky. My hint is "maybe it is time for a breath of fresh air".  The outfit comes with a long patterned and formal skirt. I opted to leave the skirt in the closet and add leggings under the pants layer. This worked VERY nicely as the bottom edge of the pants layer is a transparent gradient.

The horns are part of a fantasy costume from .44 Caliber in the Seasons Hunt.  My viewer 2 eye tattoos are included in a pack from [Sassy Kitty Designs] in the Twisted Hunt.

Please Please Please - Designers

Tonight I received some nice group gifts. It doesn't matter from where :D. These gifts were all marked "for sale" and buy on touch, hence that nasty little dollar sign shows up on mouseover which is something I am not willing to deal with.  This isn't a new phenomenon and if there are mod rights, the problem can be fixed IF the person receiving the item has some building skills and knows how to remedy the issue. Without the mod rights AND the knowledge, your recipients are left with an object they may not want to use. Hence, it goes in the trash.

I suspect this is often an oversight since the items -- in this case anyway -- were never for sale but made as gifts. But if you really want your gifts to be well received (and who doesn't) it might be good to test with an alt or friend to see exactly what you are giving out.

Again tonight was definitely not the first time I have seen this. Not new, just something to think about. Taking that check mark out of the for sale box and the buy on touch choice is good plan.

Unfortunately this happens with items that people buy also, so please think about your shoppers when you choose your pricing modes.

Thanks a bunch!

PS. For those of you WITH this problem on some items, you can take the check mark out of the "for sale" field shown above. You may need to click the  "when left clicked - touch/ grab (default)" once again to get the "$L" to disappear. I need to do that on my viewer anyway.  This fix will ONLY work if the item is mod of course.

Homemade Leggings

I love leggings. I love wearing them and I love collecting them. As I was dressing for the day, it occurred to me that many of you who grew up in the great clothes era (yes, we are in that now and it will most likely only get better) may not know that you can indeed MAKE YOUR OWN.

Now making clothes takes time and effort and skill. Been there, done that, did not enjoy it. Luckily some folks do. While the average avatar isn't  Photoshop royalty, anyone just out of the pod can make some pretty cool leggings with the old time tools we were given. Indeed, I used to do this when I was young and my inventory in meager straights. So here is a little tutorial for those of you that may not know you can do this, a handy skill for when you don't have time to shop. It is also a fun way to use some of the textures you pick up on hunts.

Here we go. Enlarge the little pictures for a full rez view.

Go into your inventory and choose Create> New Clothes> New Underpants. You could also choose New Pants if you want that layer.

Thanks again to WoE for making undies on that tattoo layer.

You will find yourself in some really ugly and badly made Bermuda shorts in basic white. You are now wearing your "New Underpants".

Don't worry. It DOES get better.

Right click on yourself and choose "Appearance" from the pie chart.

Your avatar goes into  an arms out stance.

Move the sliders to the right so your pants are as long and high as they can be. You will have no fancy edging on your homemade leggings, so covering up those areas is the final plan.

Now comes the fun. Click on the fabric square in the New Underpants pane.

This will open up your inventory and show you available textures. You can browse through the options, trying out the textures (double click) to find a fun look. If you want fine patterned leggings you will want a 512 texture with a smallish pattern. Smaller sized textures and bolder patterns will give you some wild but fun additions to your wardrobe.   Tint the leggings if you wish.  Choose SAVE AS and give your leggings an appropriate name.

Alternately, you could look through your available textures by double clicking them in you inventory, find some you like and then drag those over to the "fabric" square in the "New Underpants" window.

That's it; a fun and creative way to add a change to your wardrobe. Wear with boots and sweaters or long tops to hide the unfinished edges, and be reminded that in the Olden Days this was the norm.  We've come a long way.

The Seasons Hunt

Most of you have already figured out that The Seasons Hunt is the hot ticket of the weekend. Primarily for gals -- so far as clothing anyway, it reminds me of the Stepping Stones hunts and indeed some of the same retailers are participating. Great gifts, easy to find prize objects -- it doesn't get much better than this.

Along with all styles of clothing, there are some wonderful home items.

This is a simple mix I made from some of my personal favorites. You can find the list of stores with SLURLs on the hunt blog here.

To All Things There Is A Season

I am packing away the bunnies today. It is a sad time. Not about prims or time or money for food, it is simply that I am tired of the endless updates.

The Colors of Autumn

Fall is in the air for many of us. Crisps clear mornings with sun filtering through the golden leaves. Designers are releasing their seasonal styles and buttoning up is on the horizon.

Sweaters are a part of our movement towards colder days, and Indie Rose has a pullover set that is extremely versatile. It comes with those en vogue scuplty pieces (shown below) but I was happy to find that with a choice of layers the sweaters could become seasonal basics as well. Here I added a cropped sweater from Tuli (no longer available) as a neutral accent. My necklace is a recent release from Ticky Tacky and my purse an oldie from Sey that many of you probably still have *wink*.

Shown here is  the sweater in all its sculptiness. You can certainly mix and match to make the style that works best for you -- and that's the fun after all. The turtlenecks come in a wide variety of color choices, so your favorites will likely be included. My personal favorite part of the new release are the leggings. I love them. Being a leggings fan in both worlds, they are often my first choice for that bottom half of my body. These are both bold and fun.

The detailing is great and I have plenty of styling ideas for these. Three tones make up the extra large vertical color blocks. Click the photo at left for an up close and personal view.

My poses are all from the newly released Odyssey Set from Diesel Works. Casual and feminine, they make a good addition to your poses folder!
