Up in The Air

Sway's has a lots of new releases for your pleasure. Two of my personal favorites are shown here. The Balloon Bench (Fun Version) is a wearable prop that indeed lives up to its title. A version with heart shaped pink balloons is also available.

Now, I don't often actually use the items I feature here. I am guessing that wasn't a surprising disclosure. My aim is to show you guys some of best new -- and sometimes old -- items out there. But today, on my way to do this post I actually had a chance to use this fun prop.

I needed to meet some folks for some paperwork chores. They only need my body, not my attention and getting us together over time zones was a little tricky. So while the typist was out in our corporeal world, I hung around on the balloons waiting for the others to show up. They evidently had a great laugh when they arrived. Smiles are good.

The new Sway's Kim leggings come in tons of colors. There slouchy, cuffed bottoms include some great wooden button details. Casual and fun!   Pants layer only.

My hanging out spot for this photo was New Trails where I am still trying to decide between a Spring and Summer tree. The snows melt in Winterfell on the 5th. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had a schedule for the weather in real life?

Year of the Bunny

Ozimals and The Magic of Oz are celebrating the Chinese New Year with a Year of the Bunny hunt. Lots of great gifts are yours for a little trekking and gathering.

If you have been on any of the Oz hunts of late, you know the drill. Find the tokens -- in this case shiny gold coins -- filling the basket you wear while exploring both sims. The coins are obvious and in clusters, so  there is no real HUNTING involved.

Once your basket if filled you can choose tokens that are good for gifts at the various stores.  It is all explained in the notecard that comes with your basket. Find them at either landing point. Be sure and visit both sims.

Prizes range from jewelry to prop poses to mouthwear. And then there is the gorgeous dress in the top photo from Pas De Deux.

If you ever wanted to feel like a fairy princess, this is the dress. It is stunning!

The mouthwear and earrings at the right are part of the gift from sanu. A beautiful calligraphy brush (mouth) is also included. You click on the brush to get the Year of the Rabbit card mouthwear. All very tasteful and beautifully textured.

Larger prizes include this rustic bunny house -- also suitable as a shop from mocha and the "I Love Bunnies" photo prop from Jolly Farm.

This lovely Year of the Rabbit bracelet with colorful Chinese stamps is from Elizabeth Tinsley  of Frippery.

These are just some of the many gifts to be found at the event which opens today.

Go forth, explore. Have fun.

Forest Primeval

I didn't really disappear. I have been over at LEARN AVATAR taking and teaching classes, getting some free land (512 for beginners to 4096 if you are really outstanding :D) and learning the ropes. Meanwhile it is EMERALD day in Luna's colors of the year. I remembered a lovely outfit from long ago that still looks outstanding. It is from Phoenix-Firefall.

It is both lovely and pastoral, a perfect outfit for a color connected to landscapes.

The Lady and The Dragon

I am leaving the day with some photos of a very lovely dress. The details are exquisite, the colors soft, muted and rich. The dress is Farewell in Bordeaux from MysticHope Design.

The location is Toi Narwa Vire, a high fantasy role play sim.

And the dragon? He doesn't talk much so I am just  going to call him Charlie.

Color - Loud and Clear

Those of you that read this blog daily or even scan it on the feeds know that I shy away from any posts that look like ads. I can't remember when I posted more than one color of a new release be it a dress, hair or skins. Favorites work their way into other features, but for me it is 96% about the photography.

There are always exceptions, however, and today is the day. If you haven't heard about erratic, you might want to venture over. It appears to be a new store and a new designer. My intuition tells me it is a reincarnation of someone who really knows what they are doing. I have no idea who that might be and I honestly don't care; I am happy to enjoy and forget about any mystery.

The store is fun and bright and easy to shop in. The selection is minimal at the moment, but what it lacks in depth of choices, it makes up for in COLOR!  Bright hues, simple designs and great decor -- it is a fun place to visit. I especially like the color change jewelry. Giant examples are out for you to play with. It is a bit like going to Legoland. Click and play.

My new shiny purple leggings with bold cut outs are part of a group gift. A nicely made and colorful long tank (many layers) comes with the set. In the end, the top was just not me. It could easily be YOU however, so zip over to the store and take a look.

And photographers? While the store is being filled, you have a great inworld backdrop -- many actually. There are plenty of color accents on black walls to choose from. Hurry over before vendors take over your photo shoot area :D.

Gold stars to Kurka's for finding this great place and a thanks to the feeds that let us keep up with so much design news. Yeah!

Now and Then

Neferia Abel will unveil a variety of new designs this coming weekend. Among them the L'Abel Orianna, a fun and frilly fashion statement that won the contest as my personal favorite. While many of the new garments are easily identified with an era, I couldn't quite pinpoint the moment in time that was the inspiration for this party dress.  After careful consideration, I decided on the fifties. I could be WAY off base of course, but there is a joyousness to the styling that reminds me of a time when -- in theory anyway -- life was less complicated. WWII was over, the country was rebuilding and we hadn't yet moved into the long skirted, free love,  flower child era.

I was extremely flattered to be asked to a preview of the new items, but not quite as excited as I was in September of 2008 when Neferia Abel generously gave me her lovely dress designed for the Black Swan event. If you were around then, you most likely remember the venue; it was a very big deal. I was new then, both to SL and to blogging. That was my first very special gift from a designer and I can remember how thrilled I was. So, as part of this post I decided to show both  dresses using the same accessories.

I am wearing the same shoes, stockings and gloves. I changed hair and removed my vintage hat for the more modern outfit. While the top photos look like Photoshop studio pics, both locales are part of our virtual world. The black and white backdrop is at the entrance to the Relive the Fifties shop, a really fun retro area. The second is a brief walk from my home in Winterfell.

Here is my original post on the Githa outfit.

Watercolor Blues

There is newness over at the Reasonable Desires sim.

A new build, a collection of specially priced new releases, a grand reopening party last eve and a hunt for thirteen little gift boxes with lingerie and costumes. Shown here is one of my favorite new releases,  Watery Asian Infusion. There are other colors available in this same style, but the deep teal blues definitely spoke the loudest to me.

After a couple of tries, I was part of the win for this great Chinese tattoo from Poison's Midnight board.

Unisex and with great detail, I was thrilled. So, new silky Chinese lounge wear; new beautifully detailed Chinese tattoo. Where else to photograph than China.

These poses are part of the new Clover set from Diesel Works. This gal has ATTITUDE -- and rightly so. The pose set comes with a snazzy new-to-me small footprint pose stand with lots of amenities like 180 turn built in.

Click on any small photo for a high rez version.

I am not a pose stand user myself, but I know that many of you are.  With lots of options like show / hide, text and timer -- life gets simpler.

My hair is an old favorite from Magika, back when there were camping chairs that you actually had to fight for *wink*. Ah, the old days. It is fun to remember.

It felt odd to take photos without shadows this morning, but China is both inside a bubble and was also acting very oddly. So my shadow viewer didn't work at all. Sometimes we just have to go with the flow. Today was one of those times.

On The Way To Taupe

These photos were taking with the color TAUPE in mind. Somehow though taupe became khaki -- at least in my mind. Colors after all are very subjective; what is teal to one person is blue to another -- beige can be tan, charcoal becomes black. The dividing lines are always thin, often misty.

Whatever the color's name, I love these photos. They highlight my favorite There's No Place Like Home prize, the Secret Tryst building from BrickWerkz Commercial Building Company.

The thirty prim structure is rich in texture and detail, a perfect prop for photographers, a special addition to an urban or grunge sim.

Note that there are two hunts going on at the store. The prizes are in the SAME location and they are the same prize :D. So don't spend too long looking for an "additional" goodie.

Click on any small photo for a high rez version.

Whether this is taupe or khaki, celery or olive -- I enjoyed the adventure and the process. My book belt is a hunt gift of long ago from n-creation. The store closed but is open again.

My goggles are from Belle Belle courtesy of a Steam Hunt,  a bonus if I remember correctly. The Steamy season is coming again soon. I haven't noticed any posters around, but I am hoping that Steam 4 will become a reality in March.

And here is my actual TAUPE outfit featuring new Sally hair in hazelnut  with color change cap by Amacci, RC RAMONA * Brooklyn Gray blouse (old), ~*INDIE ROSE*~ High Waisted Trousers and GOS DARE Bootie in brown. See, even the designers didn't agree on the color that I consider "taupe".

MysticHope has a lovely present out; Soullight comes in versions for both women and men. You can find it here (central landing point; follow the beam). This is a gorgeous outfit and comes complete with matching boots for the gals and a tattoo for the guys. I opted for a little contrast with some plain silver footwear.

My hair is one of four new releases from Amacci, Silje, A short and full pony tail collects in the back. A click color change (and tintable) band holds strands together. I especially like the asymmetrical and slightly messy tendrils that frame the face.

These classically ladylike poses are from a new BehaviorBody set of 22 animations dedicated to jewelry. The Passion for Jewelry set offerings have three seconds of movement followed by a static pose; they can work for photography as well as runway. As a retired jewelry maker, I know how difficult it can be to find poses that show off wrists and rings well. These are very nicely done, so stop by the shop and give them a try. And, as you can see, they can do double duty as fashion poses -- no jewelry required.

A special thanks to Kurka for posting on the Mystic Hope gift. I have many outfits form the shop and this is one of my favorite.

If you count the hours that I have spent in my new virtual tub from Cheeky Pea and add them to the hours spent in the corresponding real life counterpart, I am indeed a relaxed gal today. This weekend's Spruce Up You Space's theme is "Life of Luxury".  That works for me! I don't know what all the designers will be coming up with but this Charlotte tub and bath shelf set is superb.

The tub comes with -- well what doesn't it come with? There is a choice of five metal colors, nine tub animations for us single folks, five couples animations with switch and sync menu options, six outside the tub animations accessible from the towel -- and a complete set of accessories that you can rez in place with the menu.

Rezzed object count against your prim allotment and can be moved a bit to work with your decor. Touch the water for a very realistic steam effect.  The towels, both with the tub and on the shelf are color change through menus. I chose a combination of berry and brown to coordinate with my Steampunk abode. The shelf is very cute and works perfectly on the wall above the tub. I downsized it a bit for my space. Yeah stretch!

Click on any small photo for a high rez version.

The tub without any accessories rezzed is 17 prims. With ALL the objects rezzed, it is 70. The shelf is completely separate (not part of rezzing system so it can be used away from the tub) and weighs in at 27 prims.

Shown here is my personal set up with towel, rug, bath accessories and roses.  The animation is one accessed from the towel.  I want to give an extra thumbs up for the animations. They are very, very nice.  A complete notecard with all the instruction for tub and shelf options is included in the package. DO READ IT *wink*. You will be glad you did.

There will be two Spruce Up Your Space weekend events this month. The first is tomorrow. So be on the lookout and if you have a place for this tub, DO check it out. And bloggers? I am sure you see the possibilities.

This is the Sexy leather jacket from Fierce Designs.  It has lots of great things going for it, many of which are in the details. The jacket itself is all prim (no clothing layers) and comes with a touch resize script.

It is a bit crumpled and a bit oversized giving it -- to me at least -- the flavor of an old boyfriend's jacket that has been appropriated and remodeled with a rhinestones and studs tool. There are plenty of heart details in the mix so the gal wearing this is most likely still in love with the previous owner of the jacket *wink*.

Now this IS a prim item and so, as often happens, even my skinny hips flow though the jacket bottom now and again. I personally deal with this frequent issue by matching my underlayer with the color of the prim pieces. While my photos don't show all the details, there are some very cool shoulder pad epaulets covered with big rhinestones. Beware that these pulse now and then. It isn't a "bling" per se and the pulsing seems to be on a random timer which is pretty neat. Still if you are in the "Bling - Me - Never" camp, you need to know. I couldn't find a way to turn the feature off, but there may be one. That option or a second jacket without pulsing would be be a good addition for designs to come in this line.

One of my favorite parts of the Sexy jacket are the sleeves which are pushed high up above the elbow. Very stylish. This item is TRANSFER.

My underlayer is the top of a lovely new release by E! Eclectic. The Zahra dress comes in all clothing layers and includes a prim skirt fill piece. It is simple, sophisticated and drapes beautifully. A perfect wardrobe addition as we move into Spring (or Fall). There are lots of colors to choose from.

I am wearing Tuli's new Nemesis eyeshadow. The extra darkness around the eyes really seems to help the overbright look that whites sometimes have in my shadow viewer. I am really looking forward to the time when I can go wild with multiple tattoo layers.

Always a Lady

The title of my post may be a little bit of a fib since I sometimes appear in scanty outfits, but in my heart, I am always a lady. Today's theme highlights the demure look and opens the definition to include a bit of casual fun along the way. This gorgeous jewelry could be worn with fancy ball gowns of any era, but it is perfect for Victorian times. My locale is Winterfell; my jewelry a new release from Eclectica.

The Eclectica "Flourish" set in Rose gold is breathtakingly intricate with hints of times gone by. The  cabochon stones have a rose pattern that adds to the detail of this lovely set. A broach is included.

The poses featured in this post are all courtesy of the new  Brazen Hussy Chair from aDORKable. You can find it currently at the CHIC Limited Venue; it will be moved to the new (undisclosed) shop after the event ends on the 29th.

I have been redoing my house a bit in preparation for Spring. Out of prims, I needed to pare down the interior decoration in order to have a budget for my new flora and fauna. There is still snow in Winterfell, but my new patches of flowers (a recent SL House and Garden Group gift from UrbanizeD) are in the yard peaking up through the snow.

So -- yes there really is a story here -- I was very happy to find that the Brazen Hussy pose chair weighed in at only ten prims AND came with a large selection of cushion fabric choices (seat only). Along with the ability to change the bottom cushion, the chair back is textured in a a shadowed gray scale. Yeah!. I changed the cushion to a brown damask and then tinted all the fabric to coordinate with my Steampunk home. While Art Deco in its basic styling, it can easily fit into more modern decor or an earlier period in history.

My beautifully textured aloe plant is from CONCRETE FLOWERS on the No Place Like Home hunt. I took one of the planters off the shelf and added it to my table. A little modification and I had a matching coffee cup sans flowers. I just love the whole set.

That's the morning news. It has been a good one.

1800 Prims

The most prims I have ever had at my disposal totaled 973 or so. Even that large number disappeared rapidly when given the choice of so many lovely things to decorate with. So when I got a note and a message from pitsch Parx that he had just completed a showcase home for an upcoming issue of Prim Perfect magazine, I definitely wanted to tour.

Click on any small photo for a high rez version.

There were no rules, only imagination, an empty lot and 1800 prims.

Many of the furnishings are from the UrbanizeD store of course, but others sprinkle though the mix. It is eclectic and colorful with touches of exotic locales.

The house is by Danny Bourne from ReBourne Prefabs and while it is a large structure the winding halls and various levels allow for intimate spaces.

While I used a shadow viewer for these photos, many of the dramatic shadows are from the furniture or the housing. It became difficult to tell where Mother Nature ala Windlight left off and design additions took over.

I couldn't help reflecting on the Hot Shots contest where pitsch Parx wandered through our two hour builds taking in details with the other judges.

From my point of view, he did well *wink*, but I am pretty sure it took awhile.

But what an experience!

Watch for the upcoming issue of the magazine to learn all the details.

For those of you that are part of the Prim Perfect group, there are presents in the living room. Look for the two tags on some specially made items. They are just for you.

The UrbanizeD Prim Perfect Showcase may be a little laggy. There were lots of folks visiting during my photo shoot. Thank goodness for that DERENDER choice in the pie chart and the clone tool in my graphics software.
