Bringing you the best of Second Life since 2008.

State of the Chic Nation

I do my best to ignore as much as possible what is happening in our corporeal world.  I have no power to change the big picture only my tiny corner of it  -- and I do that as much as I can.  In many ways that big picture - small radius mentality holds for me in our pixel environment.  So I do what I can as I can.

My inventory is now cleaned and sorted.  With folders going back to summer Shop and Hop I have NOT been doing a good job with neatening.   A very long list of items in OBJECTS which in part were from the  transporting items from SL to Kitely last Spring needed to be dealt with.   SO not wanting to go through all that they were moved to an "Objects 2025" folder for "safe" keeping.

A quick scan of the trash -- then deletion of it all.  I used to be SO VERY CAREFUL with that but honestly -- in that you-can-only-do-what-you-can-do scenario it has rarely done any good over the last almost 20 years.

One very nice "yes, this is me" outfit was added  to my pictured photo wardrobe (the white set from MEVA and some fun white boots and some Kunglers jewelry  -- all new). That was it for the season -- oh and a new head and skin -- can't forget those.  Updated for the new year Chic goes forward.

For those of you who might be interested and might want to compare :D  my net income was a bit lower in 2025 than in 2024 -- this if we don't count the devaluation of the linden dollar. With that taken into consideration the total is about 20 to 25 percent less.  Any changes in Thunes (Tilia) fees that may have occurred have not been factored in.  I have not cashed out to Paypal as yet.  Waiting to see how that goes this year for others as it was extremely messy last year seems wise.   Note of course that I was really REALLY retired this past year.

I went over to Kitely this weekend.  I don't go over often, not even monthly really but felt like checking in.  There I can enjoy my 2048 textures and seemingly better lighting than in SL.  The month or so in Kitely last year was my building swan song and I enjoyed it a lot and got to look back and things built and forgotten about over the years.  Is SL going to disappear and Kitely be the (only really) alternative for any populous that wants to continue their virtual lives?  Not necessarily; not even likely. And of course Kitely could disappear. But having alternatives is always wise and for the moment I have most everything (good) I created in two worlds.

I learned most of my mesh skills in Kitely during the 2013 SL exodus and I have fond memories of both Kitely and The Great Canadian Grid (there were others too but just briefly).

There are no big plans on my calendar for 2026.  Blogging will likely continue until either Blogger or "I" disappear so that isn't really an issue.  But as you may have noted things are slowing down in many areas and on many blogs so it really is sometimes difficult to fill the upcoming post page. Keep your fingers crossed for success there.
