FLF at Sixteen
The years fly by -- not only virtual of course. Fifty Linden Friday is the current Linden blog profile and most of you likely know that the birthday event is going on. I haven't found much (maybe anything) that I wanted to buy or keep in the last years so missing out on the event (yes purposefully) wasn't a sad time.
It did get me thinking however about history. Ya know I love history. I remember when FLF first started. Long Awkward Pose was in the lineup as well as a collection of other well known stores. It was "invitation only", the first in my memory of a weekly sales event. FLF became a bone of contention among some creators who were pretty much angry that they were not invited to the party --- even when they were banging on the gates to be added as a creator.
Indeed the BIG NEW IDEA started a birthing of similar events -- most often so the person running the show could "get in" :D. And so weekend sales events were born. There may have been others previous to the small group but they never garnered the attention (in my memory anyway) of the masses.
A lot has changed over the years. I remember Dove (LAP) saying (I think as she was closing and exiting Second Life) that she was grateful for the platform and that she had put her kids through college with her products. That is my memory anyway :D. I checked her profile from some of the many poses I still have and she hasn't LEFT completely (again apparently). That's good to know. We are pretty much the same age and I watched her brand grow and prosper of the years. There were pose hunts and contests and much fun.
My picture above is one of the earliest items Blogger can find from FLF, the chair. I am at MOSP relaxing with Pearl -- now 4369days old and rezzed each of those virtual days!
