2022 Changes Changes

The virtual economic landscape has been changing  these last few months. Real life events such as recession, war, inflation and supply issues impact both creators and shoppers.  The pixel landscape and historical trends are shifting and I suspect they will continue to morph throughout summer and into the fall -- at least.

The rumor -- based on official Linden comments at public meetings -- that Premium Plus will finally be revealed has sparked plenty of conversation and speculation on the SL forums.  I look forward to seeing how close I guessed the rate versus reward quotient.  Meanwhile more event anniversaries have surfaced and with them a distinct  shift.

Some of you are old enough to remember that creators traditionally gave out gifts on their rez day.  That still may be happening, but it is no longer "the expected norm".  And I have noted hat fewer events are including gifts in their celebrations. The Cosmopolitan creators are definitely getting the prize for generosity.

Some events are celebrating  without presents, balloons and cake. Others are putting out "gifts" that can be purchased with most coming in at 50 lindens. Some of those 50 linden presents have no vendor photos so they are in essence "grab bags"  which is against the new "gacha" policy of last Fall

I certainly understand that creators get tired of putting out gifts at events -- especially when sales are down and the summer season is about to begin.  But with all the sales events including the preponderance of weekend sales the profit outlook isn't looking too rosy in my crystal ball (and yes, I do have one in RL left to me by my grandmother :D).

Buckle your seatbelts, it is bound to be interesting.

The definition of a gift is "something given voluntarily without payment in return", a word that seems to have lost its meaning in SL. Kinda torques me, to be honest. Still, I paid for that 'gift' from Nutmeg cuz her stuff is that good.
