New Premium No Stipend Option
I didn't do the math because I really didn't care, BUT I am happy to report that an alternate Second Life membership plan is coming in October. Same features; no stipend.
Honestly the stipend has always bothered me. Most folks just couldn't see that all The Lab was doing was giving you back the money you paid them (sometimes yearly) as lindens instead of dollars -- thus FLOATING the USDs.
Then of course is you wanted to use your lindens to PAY for next year's membership it was basically free. That was long ago and many of us went with the no spending your stipend and save for next year plan. I suspect some folks still save their stipend but the cost (and red tape) of cashing out make the early scheme ineffectual.
Those days are long gone but still the bones of the stipend stay the same so for many folks this should be a good choice -- especially for those that are not shoppers.
