Bringing you the best of Second Life since 2008.

Statistics

Statistics are a funny thing; a slippery thing.

You can make them suggest almost anything with twists and turns and innuendo.

I have never played that game -- the "I follow you and you follow me", the constant watching of social media to see who "likes me" -- the BUYING of followers and likes.

Really?

Nowadays blogging is my main focus in SL.  There may come a time when that shifts into something else but so far -- eight months now -- it hasn't happened.

These are my stats from Blogger towards the end of August -- supposedly Second Life's slowest month.  And still one of my highest view months that I can remember.

Pretty much all of the numbers are incorrect though in one way or another.

* Blogger didn't start keeping stats until a year or so after I started Chic at Phil's Place.

* My "followers"?  Well that is a VERY old part of Blogspot that never took hold as so many folks used Wordpress -- and most of people represented are likely not in SL or even on the planet by now.

* Comments are very rare these days but near the beginning of the century there were plenty with questions and and answers and ideas.

A typical month's total  for a long time was around 30,000 page views.  This month 122K (actually 133K when the month ended :D).   Did I get that many new viewers?    Well in some ways yes.   Even though I stay away from Facebook, Insta, Twitter and all their similar postings others do not.  So the word gets spread when (in theory) I say something important or point out a new product or gift.

Do others build their popularity on my work?  Likely so. Do I cane?  Nope.

I would be blogging still if there were only a hundred folks dropping by.  I would likely still be blogging if there were only ten although maybe not as often.  My blog is my online diary of good times, trials, frustrations, wars and victories. Failures too as they are also important.

So thanks to the folks passing along my words and pictures to those that would otherwise never see them.

PS right after the post went up.   I looked more at the pie charts and listing in my stats area and Goggle is my biggest "referrer" and "chicatphilsplace" (all one word) is the most searched term.  ALL the terms are actually hashtags -- some of products.  And almost everyone (now) is in the US.   Hmmmm.  :D
