Hunting the Hunts

Two big hunts start at midnight -- or we expect them to anyway.  Shrouded in secrecy, it seems like finding the hunts is the first step in going on the hunt. Both Twisted and Steam have hunt blogs, but unlike other informational websites, they are both pretty much empty. No press releases, not even a list of participants appear on the pages.

Hence, I am out here in front of  The Julia Collection. The clock is a fitting prop for this post as we are in fact waiting. I zipped over to Julia's on a hunch and as I suspected a sign was out front. Clicking the Steam Hunt sign gave me a notecard which I will now share in part. One point for good blogmanship.

This is the third Steampunk Grid-Wide hunt!  STEAM will take place September 1st-30th, 2010.  The gifts will remain available for the entire month... if you can find them!

There will be Steampunk-themed gifts to find hidden all over the grid in more than 135 participating shops.  You'll be offered a variety of gifts as you search for the hidden items.  Only high-quality designers have been invited to participate, and their exclusive items will be available only for the duration of the hunt.

As with most hunts, you begin at a starting location.  That location will give you the LM to the next, and so on.

However, if you join the group, in September you'll be given a list of all the merchants' shops and you can start wherever you like!

SEARCH the group STEAM HUNT PUNKS and join for free!
As I was writing this post, I received a notecard and gift from Parajen Homes . Steam 3 is their first hunt and their prize looks pretty special -- as in you and a few of your close friends could live in it *wink*. For non-hunters in the group and just to be especially nice, they sent along a vintage desk with photo frames and old fashioned phone.

I did a quick change into a Steampunk outfit, pulled out a coordinating house and here is a quick look.

Steam Hunt 3 starts at midnight, but there will likely be plenty of stores not quite in the loop at that hour. You know that. For those of you heading over to Twisted, I did a little recon. I remembered seeing a sign at A-Bomb when I was there earlier. Sure enough a notecard gave me the starting point and group info, if not the starting time.

Join the group to stay updated!
Just search groups for 'Twisted Hunt' or visit the landmark
below and click on the 'Twisted Hunt' sign.

Go forth. Find good stuff!

Edit: Here is a list of some of the hunts starting with poster thumbnails, blog links and starting points! Yeah!

My outfit of the eve is made up of some items I found on the Think Pink Hunt today. I know you have seen the same pink prizes over and over, so here are a few new items. The skin is Mynerva lovely and the clothes both come with other items in the pack. The sunglasses are part of a three color pink pack.  I started Think Pink at #47 and got stuck at #14, so that gives you some idea of where they are on the trail.

Silent Music

Can we have music without sound? Can our hearts float free only in our imagination?

Dancing on rooftops in frozen monochrome, the answer is obvious.

There is plenty of newness wrapped up in this post as well as a cultural adventure.

The wee small hours of the morn found me opening boxes and straightening inventory. I felt like a casual day; places to go, locales to explore; so jeans seems a good choice. Autumn was on my mind, I have to admit. The seasons do not have to change in SL, but they often follow those of the Northern hemisphere and the mornings have turned chilly in my neck of the RL world.

I also wanted to put in a plug for tattoo layering for tops (thank you WoE for bringing the possibility to my sometimes foggy brain). Here's my pitch. There are lots of cute little mini dresses and bathing suits out there that make great tank tops under pants or leggings. On these pages  you see me  in minis and their micro cousins,  but I almost never wear them in my day to day virtual life. Hence they get abandoned in my "minis" folder, forgotten and forlorn. The strapless top I am wearing is WoE's Tatiana Ruched Dress from last night's post. I am wearing it on the tattoo layer.

And why is that such a big deal? It let's me wear jeans on the undies layer and the "tank" will tuck in. Now these newly released  jeans from CandyDoll actually work fine for boots (and come in tons of nicely worn muted colors with and without belts) even on the pants layer. But there are plenty of no mod pants layer jeans that will not. Having a mini dress or one-piece swimsuit come on an additional tattoo layer adds lots of wear-ability points.

The poses above are part of a newly released set from Everglow.  There are lots of cute poses in this pack. They fit me which is always a thrill and they are mod so that I can rename them with hints as to positioning -- a great time saver.

I don't get excited about eyes very often, but these Aimesi Eyes are a winner for me. Blue on the outside with hints of rust near the pupil; perfect for red headed days! Earrings and bracelets, I can never have enough. These new ones from Ticky Tacky are both fun and colorful. A matching necklace is available.

My photos above were taken at an art exhibition titled "Textile Tales" by the Australian artist Teal Etzel .

On the way to the exhibit I stopped by LISP Bazaar to check out the Sunday / Monday special and it is very cute.  Journey by if you have some prims to spare and a kitchen or dining room to decorate.

The Next Day

The Next Day is a dark urban role play area that welcomes visitors. It is a photographer's dream -- if that photographer is looking for light against dark, glow amidst gloom and small bits of color punctuating the landscape.

There is an art gallery and a club hidden somewhere amidst the shadows. I didn't find either. What I did find were some dramatic backdrops to show off the new Glam jacket from Blue Blood and the new Tatiana Ruched Dress from WoE.

The Glam jackets released today come in four luscious colors - green, red, black and purple. Prim cuffs are included but not shown here. Find this specially priced release near the landing point.

The Tatiana Rouched Dress from WoE is available in EIGHT different colors. It is simple but stylish and well made of course.

One thing I really love about this release is the choice of layers. There are extra layers. Yep, tattoo layers are included in the mix. There is also a matching thong that comes on both layers and the tattoo layer. You can wear it always and never worry about being completely naked again. That is my plan anyway *wink*. The full dress comes on a tattoo layer also meaning that you could add three other layers on top. Talk about options! You can of course tuck this "dress" into pants and I can pretty much guarantee that will be my favorite use.

Put them together and you definitely have a winning combination!

To get to the main city in The Next Day walk through the mall, down the long ramp and take the teleport sign to the city. Be sure and read the rules if you are going to engage in role play.

Can You Spell P-I-N-K?

Hunts are starting again as the month rolls into September. Actually I doesn't seem like they stopped starting in August. I suspect you know what I mean. Most of us know that the Twisted Hunt starts in a few days. I am going to give it a try again this year, but I am not that dedicated a hunter.

Meanwhile ----- if you like pink, there is a hunt starting for you. The THINK PINK HUNT starts on Monday August 30th with Candy Doll as the starting point . That is pretty much all the intel I have except that it is a smallish hunt. Obviously it is geared toward gals.

The cute umbrella and beach chair is the prize from {what next}. Both are copy items so you can seat a crowd. The chair has lots of cute animations and  /1a adjustments.

Another very nice gift is this skin from Glam Affair. This one skin tone comes with various pubic hair options including tattoo layers.

My hair is a new release from GARAGE (not a hunt prize).

Sprusing Up

The weekend's theme for Spruce Up Your Space is "Dinner Party". There are plenty of cute and clever home decor items. One of my favorites for the week is a sleek and sophisticated bar set from Agent Orange -- happily in a new temporary location at Horst while another shop is in the works.

Two other shops have some items I want to check out, but so far they don't seem available.

Belle Belle has a dinner system (photo here)  with lots of choices for your guests and Alchemy's Attic has an intriguing bread tray with plants and book.

The festive accessory (perfect for holidays around the corner) uses a temp on rez system and is only ONE prim. I have the potting bench that uses this system and love it. There is very little lag generated and the detailing and choices are fantastic.

The special items are available through the weekend.

My super sexy mini dress with the classic back is a new release from Hot Mood. Entitled simple as Black Dress, it has one strap in front. The asymmetrically designed mini also come in white and includes its own stockings. I can't seem to take these one sided ones off though so I opted for a mixed look.

A Little More Emerald Drama

I have another pretty picture post coming soon as I hate to leave these text messages at the top of my blog, BUT I really felt I needed to pass along this extra info on Emerald.

I deleted the Emerald viewer last week amidst all the hubbub. Recently a techie friend of mine (edit: who fends of Denial off  Service Attacks on a seemingly weekly basis)  and no longer logs into SL but had Emerald on his system, warned me to be sure and delete the support files as well as the program. I did a search for "Emerald" and found a folder full of textures and such that was not uninstalled with the program.

Now these files were texture folders (edit: there were however files besides textures). Trying to send the whole Emerald folder to the recycle bin didn't work. I repeatedly got the "file in use" message. I then systematically started deleting subfolder one by one with good success but for two folders. I think they were "7" and "0". I still kept getting the "in use" message.

I had no open programs and I couldn't see why any programs running in the background -- or any program I currently had for that matter -- would be accessing Emerald files. This didn't make me very happy, especially since one of the Emerald team mentioned that the trojan was hidden in a texture file (edit: possibly WITHIN the texture file folders). Another of the team (no longer with the team) mentioned that there could easily be others that hadn't been found.

I rebooted my machine and immediately deleted the folders, then dumped my recycle bin. I do not know if one of the "in use" files was the trojan that caused the recent exodus from Emerald. When I was Goggling on this topic though, I came across the article from a few months ago when the Avast antivirus system (which I use) was reporting a trojan in the current viewer. Could it have been that Avast was right all along and the "fix" was to hide the trojan better?

An interesting thought.

I was also advised to change my password. This would be especially important if you  A. actually have money in your SL account *wink* or B. use the same password for other sites. I do neither but will change have changed it anyway.

I still wish the remaining team well, but I am afraid the battle to gain back trust is a very uphill one.

Life is a Caberet

Reasonable Desires has a new release out that is very much my style! And there are so many choices and so many layers you can play all day. I tried to count all the pieces in the folder but kept losing the number. Somewhere around 30 seems to be the correct neighborhood. Just think "many"!

Jackets and corsets and shirts and garters -- oh my! I tried on lots of pieces but fell in love with the open shirt and the one stocking hooked look and built this styling around those pieces. You can be more naked or more dressed depending on your mood and sensibilities. Something for everyone. There is a top hat and a primly knotted bow tie included.

While you are checking out the Cabaret set, pick up the free Retro Pin up Pose set. The pose in the second photo is from the newly released VAMP set.

The hair shown is the second hunt prize from W&Y at the Takumi Hunt. As with the other prize, there are color change options for both hair and band.

Takumi Hunt - The Hair

I finished the  Takumi Hunt last eve -- my version of finishing anyway. Some pink clam shells are easy to find and other deviously (as in between, inside, on the same color -- or all three) hidden. Some I never found, but we know I am not a great hunter.

But you don't need to hunt to find this great free hair from W&Y. Zip on over to the store and grab two styles of very pretty hair. The giant clams await you at the entrance lobby. This, more casual style is my favorite and includes both color change hat and hair as well as a kill script. The other hair is more elegant in that retro "we are in The Great Depression (US - 1930s) but I still have money AND a maid" look. It would be great for period costumes.

I am wearing the new Dressing Room skin from Tuli. Helen is replacing Gina it seems. I was fond of Gina, but life moves along. Helen is considerably lighter in tone than Gina and the premier Gina 01 features subtle violet eye shadow and pale pink lips. To me she seems very demure. The eye opening seem smaller to me than Gina (I am sure Tuli will comment if I am wrong on that ) as I needed to either switch eyelashes or readjust my normal ones. I went back to an older pair -- more demure anyway -- and that worked perfectly.

Helen 01 will be around for two weeks and arrives at The Dressing Room today.

Takumi Hunt 2010

The SLexy Fashionista's morning post showed us some cool boots from the Takumi Hunt 2010. I went over to find the boots. After checking again at the blog I found we were looking for pink clam shells. And that's the first part of this interesting hunt story.

We get so used to how things are done in hunts these days, we think that is the only way. Here's the difference. There are NO landmarks to the next spot in the packages. Some, but not all of the shops have hunt signs. So first you have to find out about the hunt -- in Japanese of course. Eventually I got to what I believe is the hunt blog and translated. Ah, now we have a list of sims taking part and the stores in the sims. That's a start.

I visited several of the sims, found some of the stores and some of the clams. So here are a few of my favorites from the hunt. It is an adventure!

First up is this simple four prim (megaprim) skybox from Cafe Blue Light. A great workbox if you need one. Several other skyboxes come in the pack.  My Tunic Jacket comes from ***em***  and includes pants so you can wear as a mini dress as well as a top. The little lamp with lots of light and glow when turned on comes from VaiorinStyle.

The chair which has a very interesting shape, is mod and comes from *MORIMI* . You can change the texture to suit your decor. There is no /1a adjustment to the pose, but the script is mod so if you have some experience you can get a perfect fitting seat -- at least for yourself. Sorry, no landmark, listing on the hunt site OR in the designers profile. Hmmm.

I am wearing a new type of facelight that apparently adjusts itself to the time of day of the region. It is from ** ar ** body coordinate. This might be great or not so; more testing is needed.

There are some nice gray tennis shoes in sizes for both guys and gals from *Mako's Pandorabox* .

Hopefully these links will get you started if you want to hunt. Some came from the hunt objects, some from creator's profiles so "hopefully" is an appropriate adverb in this case. I think it is an adverb anyway, bleariness approaches.

One more prize to mention for the gals is a set of cute black pompom pasties from one of the shops in the  MALL DE *ALOALO* . Sorry store name is in Japanese.

Wake Up SL!

Up way too early this morning, I spied a post from Tami about a sale at Imani. I hadn't been to the store in months, but I remembered I like the simplicity of the designs. Great basics with excellent workmanship. So I zipped over and beat the crowds. THAT was pleasant.

The whole store is on sale for $5. This set includes pants, top, two bra top choice and two belt choices. Gloves are included. $5. Good deal.  There are mini dresses, one retro outfit, gloves, eyes, shorts (got a pair of those) and sunglasses. Don't miss the free handprint tattoos over in the eye section. There are dollarbie gift boxes on a table also.

The items I purchased were NO COPY items.

Clad in new duds, I am going off to work on a project. Have a great day.

Let's Hear It For COLOR!

I have been exploring galleries in my spare time. I know there is "real art" in SL. I know there is great art. But sometimes finding it is difficult. So I was happily surprised to find myself at the BleueSpace gallery in Nantucket. lala Lightfoot is the artist of these multi-prim works where paintings are given an extra boost with clever but unobtrusive prim additions.

Fun, colorful, creative and vibrant - some works are even animated.

I donned my best orange and blue -- well close anyway -- top to coordinate with the art.

And this is my post of the day. Have a good one.

Emerald and Moving Forward

It has been a tough week for lots of  folks. Here's hoping next week is closer to sigh of relief time.

I have no insider info. I have only been reading reports from both people who should know and people who think they know what's been going on. There is a difference of course. Tonight someone sent me to a post from a Emerald developer who has left.  It was the most informative article that I have read. This seems to suggest that deleting the Emerald viewer would be a good idea, and I will do that tomorrow.

I download the Imprudence viewer the morning before the official announcement and installed it that evening. I am not a creature of change. I deal with it well, but I don't really enjoy it. There were other viewer choices of course, but I wasn't about to get into the Viewer 2 fiasco. I have yet to meet someone who loves it.

So for those of you who are changing viewers, here are a few tips on Imprudence -- should that be your viewer as an Emerald refuge -- as someone on the forums called herself.

Most everything that I used in Emerald is in Imprudence. I missed the derender feature but on writing to the forums found that it was included in a recent (not guaranteed - read beta) release. So I downloaded the newest weekly update viewer and installed it. Happily it goes into a different directory so even if I have issues with it (none so far) I can use the stable (end of June I think) version.

If you know you are going to use Imprudence as your default viewer, then it would be a good idea to agree to associate SLURLS with the viewer on install. If you do not (and I didn't) you have to reinstall in order to get the associations going. Most folks that read this blog use web SLURLs a lot, so being able to click and go is important.

The reason that Imprudence rezzes faster (or appears to) is that it has a stepped rez feature. It basically loads the objects and textures closest to you first and then moves out into the world. If you watch your draw distance pop-up on entering world, you can see that it starts out at 64 and then goes to 128 and beyond. There is a place where you can change the step distance within the program. Update: I  notice that the newest version (beta) comes on at 264.

There are several new to me features in Imprudence that I enjoy. I especially like having a button to pop up  the sky editor on the bottom taskbar (optional); it is right next to the skies list and the distance bar . There is also an optional AO button for the built in AO. From there you can turn the AO on and off or adjust sits as needed. For those of you that run multiple avatars, Imprudence has your avatar name on the program button in the Windows taskbar so you can tell which button belongs to who. You can also set multiple avatar loading within the program.

The biggest complaint on the forums is that the font is different and larger than the standard LL (or Emerald) font. I don't have any issues with the font style or size, but the font set is missing characters and so some characters show up only as empty boxes. I had to work with a script today with all those missing character boxes and that was pretty scary. I suspect that will be high on the list of changes since so many people are asking about it. While the Profile pane is more user friendly (bigger slot for deliveries as one change), the lines break differently than in the other viewers I have used so you can't really tell what your Picks or About Land info looks like to those in other viewers.

The whole Emerald debacle is both disheartening and disturbing. I am sure it is even more so for those intimately involved. We have no guarantees that this won't happen again with other viewers.  All we can do is move on and hope for the best.

Please feel free to comment on this post if I have made any errors.

Third World

Moving towards the end of the month, moving towards the end of summer --

My weekly blogging folder is empty except for a couple of cute props and a few clothing items feed watchers have seen too many times already. Since I hate for The Blog to remain stagnant, I ventured back over to Third World to do more exploring. There was a meeting going on with  several avatars in attendance and with lots of scripts running the sim was close to crashing most of the time I was there. Still, I did some exploring and took a couple of photos for you.

Third World is a bit like moving through a painting. Not a "What Dreams May Come" adventure, but certainly dreamlike. It is difficult to tell from this photo, but the trees at the top of the gate grow upside down -- at least our perception of what upside down might be. There is plenty reality questioning in this build, a beautiful place to visit and explore.

Still in yesterday's RunoRuno garb, one of my favorite hanging around outfits. See yesterday's post for details.

Just a Pretty Picture

Well maybe a bit more than ONLY a pretty picture. Lots of dra-ma and work this week. Too many texty posts and not enough photos. I am sure more than one of you noticed. Included in this shot is a tiny glimpse of Third World -- a surreal and magical place filled with color and intriguing details. I have only begun to explore. Also to be noticed in this photo, the dollarbie earrings from Sigma Designs (thanks to Sirena). Find them in a gift box on a long table in the entry. There is a necklace available also.

A new group has just opened for the Hair Fair - Demos! Yeah!

Imprudence vs Emerald Viewers

Emerald was taken off the Third Party Viewer list sometime yesterday, presumably after they announced a huge shift in the way the organization will be run. I missed the drama and reading last week's blog posts on the Modular Systems site didn't really clue me in. Thing went awry and the head guy evidently did some less than great things. He is no longer part of the Emerald team.

[Morning update: you can read the (very engaging)  backstory on last eve's TV show with the Emerald folks here.  The audio is up now and the video will be up soon. ]

I downloaded the Imprudence viewer yesterday morning on rumor of some big issues in the works. I can still log in using Emerald and according to the Emerald team's blog post, they are resubmitting the viewer for consideration. For those of you thinking about installing a different viewer, here is my quick feedback.

It works similar to Emerald and the older LL viewer with most things in the same menus. Many of the Emerald improvements have made it into the current Imprudence build (or visa versa). It is a change and there are some things missing , but my biggest problem is with the clarity of the graphics. On the plus side for fashionistas that don't want to go to Viewer 2, the tattoo layers work in Imprudence. On the down side, the secondary attachment points (like nose 2 for a facelight while wearing glasses for a photo) do not. There is no spell check, but I haven't found much that I would miss.

I can confirm that objects and textures rez much faster with Imprudence than with Emerald.  This is good and for most people it would be a enough reason to switch. I have been told by folks that have been crashing a lot and with rezzing issues that Imprudence solved their problems. Since I haven't been having those issues (just sloooooow rezzing) I can't verify that information.

What I noticed right off, however, was that the inside of my office looked "off". It wasn't the lighting since I was using the same settings. It was the quality and clarity of the graphics. I did several tests and the photos below show what I, at least, am seeing.

Note: this problem has been solved, but be aware you may find this before makeing adjustments.

Notice the pixelated edges on any of the angled lines. I have written to the Imprudence forums in hopes that there is a fix for this -- something obscure that I haven't needed to turn on or change in the past. I guess I can get used to it if I have to and high rez photos work well. It is just the visuality that is disturbing to me.

Update: The comments from readers had me changing the antialiasing number in the hardware settings and that worked. So I am off for a day of testing. It did solve the issue. Closing out and coming back was necessary as my window backgrounds disappeared, but that's a small price to pay for SMOOTH LINES! Yeah.

It would be a really good viewer for hunts though. I had forgotten how fast things used to load, what was it? Three weeks ago?  :D

Just passing my research on in hopes it will be helpful.

Will the Real Chic Aeon Please Stand Up

Five million sales (it seems like anyway) and a new hunt (starting at 4 pm) highlighted this Sunday's feed features. What really caught my interest though was a post by Raul Crimson.  I pay little attention to world news and not much more to the virtual kind. I prefer to do my own thing and enjoy my simple pleasures. I knew that a SL name changing ability was in the works, but I hadn't really thought about what that could mean. People will be able to put in non European letters for their names; a good idea.  I didn't understand that we could also lose the hold on our identities.

Now, for some folks that hold is  tenuous anyway. We can change shape and sex and skin tone as well as costumes. We can be birds or dragons or robots. But through all that we still keep our names. So now it seems there can be more than one Chic Aeon. Sure, some sleuthing will let folks know who the original one is, but how is that EASIER for the new folks?  Is this really a move designed to encourage new users or some smoke and mirror escapade designed to take our mind off the other issues in Phil's land?

When I clicked over to read the very long official post on the changes and watch Torley's video on how it will work, there were already 780 comments. I  skimmed quickly and didn't find any positive ones, except for the use of sarcasm. There may be some in the mix; I would assume there would be.

Businesses are closing, signs of desperation appear almost hourly. The Labs keep trying to attract new users rather than keep the ones they have. This makes no sense to me. A smaller, working world, with happy residents seems like a much better plan than the ever expanding model they can't seem to lose sight of.

Then again, I have only run small businesses throughout my life. Perhaps the rules are different when you are a big company.

Towels Anyone?

Yesterday was a busy day for me, so the four of you who start your day at Chic's blog may have noticed the absence of a new post *wink*. I had to smile this morning when I saw Gogo's feature on the new bathhouse from elefantu (a merging of Djinn & Tonic [HOME]  with Blackheart & Bailey Builds). She was wearing the same swimsuit I had planned on donning for MY version of show and tell.

By now many of you have the great swimsuit and shoes from G Field at the ICON hunt. I made a special trip over to look for those items as I love the swimsuit.  I have shown you before in other colors; it is great as a tuck in tank. Since I also love purple, I was a happy gal. The shoes work with both viewers (sigh of relief).

I am still wearing my RUSH hair from LeLutka as it is so Disco Fever; I love it. For those of you that have this group gift in your closet and may not have experimented, here is a tip. You can turn the headband to many more colors than the quick menu lists by separately editing the tint of the band. You could even add a print if you like, but be sure and make a copy first so you don't lose the original texture.

The bath house is light, airy and definitely cute. What I like most is that the furniture and accessories are mod and in many cases separate, so you can move things around easily and even make copies to use in other builds.

There are poses built into some of the furniture and you can buy the furniture pack by itself, if you have plans that don't include a glass house. You could use the house as a green house or cabana too. It would be great as a dining area. SO many choices.

The boathouse is packed full of details. My favorite is the open drawer with flowers and bird.

If you have lots of prims to decorate with, the complete house is a fun addition to your land. If you are on a prim budget, you can still use bits and pieces in a mix and match manner.

It's only Thursday, but it seems like the weekend. It has been a busy time for me. Lots of photographs, plenty of exploring. New places found, old favorites revisited.

It has been a busy week for The Labs too. Teens coming to the adult grid (upping the numbers of population in world and saving some dollars), new residents getting to choose their own last names, but not exactly at the beginning?  Hmm.

One bit of  likely positive intel -- old news really, but I had no idea until yesterday -- is that The Labs are working on an endowment for the arts with an impressive committee. Whether this turns out to be a plus for artist, only time will tell -- but there are possibilities and hopefully a step forward. I am obviously late getting to the party. Wrapped in marketing and fashion and inventory control, I have been remiss in other areas that interest me.

The two FASHION items in this post are the new LeLutka Update Group gift hair which I really love and the {what next} Limited Edition 'Unmentionables' Trunk from the Pantie Raid at Lloyd. Ditto on the "love" for that cute piece of decor.

The hair comes in tons of interestingly named colors (who knows what Overcooked, Syrup or Glucose might be?) which are an adventure to try out. The band is color change too.

The trunk has lots of poses to choose from and at only seven prims, it is a lot of decorating punch at a small cost. There are small [what next] logos on each side, but they aren't overwhelming.

You don't have to be a sleuth to figure out that I am opening a tiny gallery. I am having fun taking photos with an artist's eye rather than that of a fashion photographer. The photos are taken into that post processing dark room called graphics software and turned into "paintings". I don't expect to tilt the art world in any way, but I like having my office next to a gallery -- and on the oceanfront still. What a treat.

Romance and Sunsets

I am not much into fancy gowns; if you read this blog you know that. But I "am" into retro and while this dress was inspired by Fall Fashion Week 2010, it echos of decades past.

I have always loved peplums. An example is the shorter than mini skirt at the waist of this gown. I remember Ugly Betty wore a killer suit with a peplum in one of the last episodes. She looked grand! Great for covering up "hips" which of course are a choice here in SL, not a genetic manifestation, the peplum is apparently very big this year. Who knew?

I really wanted to know the history of the peplum. I seem to recall it being big in the 50s maybe? My fashion history recall is not so good these days and Wikipedia failed me. Since fashion styles move in cycles, I am guessing this waist honing tactic has been seen many times before.  All you really need to know is that it is stylish, flattering, specially priced through August 22nd, and from --Prim and Pixel Paradise.
