Black and Blue - Alienated

Alienated Soul is one of two avatar sets from *** MYNERVA *** available at the Black and Blue Fair (opens June 4). I was very pleased to get a chance to see the skins in an up close and personal way. Alienated Soul and its sister set with heart lips, Disheveled Heart, include skin, hair, eyes, ears, lashes, eyebrows and shape. Just add a bit of clothing and stir.

This skin will be available through June at the Black and Blue Fair (watch for a landmark when the fair opens). This is a lovely skin with softly marbleized details. It can be worn with ears as an elven skin or as a fantasy skin with modern attire. It is definitely one of my favorite blue - gray skins.

I used my own shape as I seldom change and added pasties and a thong from deviousMind. Poses shown are from the new runway set by Behavior Body.  See my previous post for more info.

Photos taken at the Black and Blue Fair venue with a little help from Emerald's "derender" feature  :D.

Basking in the Glow

With two great new freebies in my closet and time on my hands, I decided to do a bit of exploring. My throw a dart on the map location (not quite, but it was a happy find) turned out to be magical. Vague is the name of the sim.  It is filled with particle effects and glow. And yes, it is home to a couple of Japanese shops. Find them high on the hill in a small village.

Another bit of inventory newness was a huge pack of runway walks and poses from Behavior Body at Baiastice. My brief flirtation with modeling was simply that -- brief, so I wasn't exactly sure what runway poses were. In this case they are some very nice poses with a twirl at the beginning. There is attitude in that twirl for sure and in some of the poses. Others, like my lead photo have a more wistful feel to them. Models  are not always happy.

This is a huge release and the poses come with mirror versions (yeah!) which will be so nice to have. I haven't tried out all the stands yet, but most of the more complex ones fit me well. As always, try on poses and walks before purchasing to find the ones that work for you. We are ALL different, and that's a good thing.

I will say that these are very versatile poses and could easily be used for vendor, fashion or glamor photography as well as modeling. After the twirl the poses stop in some great positions for still photography.  This is the nicest set from Behavior Body I have seen. Our designers just keep getting better and better. And according to the folders I received, there are two free runway poses at the shop, so check for those.

Both my boyfriend tank and Spring bangles are new gifts from generous designers. You can pick up the tank (all layers) at !Ohmai in Tableau. The tops available for purchase come in color packs and can be tucked in or left out. (Thanks freeverts!)

The pretty pink bangle set hales from Lostwood, a shop featuring jewelry, tattoos and mouthwear. There are lots of great items, free and to purchase, so take a look around.

Black and Blue - The Fair 2

I just took a trip quick over to the Black and Blue Fair to find lots of great new items out.  The fair opens the 4th, so you can't get there yet. With prices range from free to expensive with every other number in between, there is bound to be something for everyone.

It is getting crowded even without shoppers, so camming will be a good mode to be in. There is also a pose stand where you can camp for a pose. So you can grab the stand if available and sit for 30 minutes while you cam-shop. I'm not sure if that is a legit word, but I suspect many of you do a lot of that. I know I do *wink*.

That's my update for the day. Watch the feeds for posts from other bloggers and be sure and visit when the fair opens. It will be around for a whole month, so skipping the first day madness might be advisable. Then again if you love lagfests, you will probably be in heaven.

Sometimes our wanderings take us places we have never dreamed of.

Last eve I was looking at a location on the map. I discovered a road and wondered where that road might lead. It was a long, mainland road that twisted and turned through the continent. Along the way I located what looked like a full sim maze -- and found Chakra Nova.

The maze is inaccessible from the map, but a bit of sim hoping and  flying got me to ground level. In the process I discovered a wondrous place with sculptures. Mermaids, gargoyles, mannequins and seraphs live in a museum-like shop high in the sky. Even more impressive to me was the full sim sculpted landscape platform that absolutely convinced me I was on land, not thousands of meters above it.

The last photo is taken at arboREAL. To get there, walk up the steps behind you at the Chakra Nova TP point and go through the door or click on the teleport sign.

I wasn't wearing this outfit of course when I began my journey, but the spirit of the place had me wanting to dress the part and so I did.

There is plenty to explore. Make your own discoveries.

Black and Blue - The Fair

The gates of the Black and Blue Fair are open -- for the bloggers anyway. The rest will need to wait a few more days -- until the 4th to be exact. What time on the 4th? I am not sure. We seem to be running on GMT, but I am sure you'll see an announcement and when I know, YOU'LL know :D.

There are still plenty of designers who don't have their items out, but I've been watching from day one (yes, I was one of the first to stake out a spot and get my vendors out ) and it has been so much fun to watch it come together.

So I put together a collage to show you a bit of the flavor of the fair. Look for a second one tomorrow. Yep, I'm a tease.

Some of the biggest news is that there is now a  free to $10 area. While all the items in the main rooms are both new and exclusive to the fair during its run, goodies in the bathroom can be new or not, themed or not. There are some great looking things here.

The whole fair experience should be fun. It reminds me a lot of my grandmother's attic. The quality of the goods are better, I must say -- but the variety is equal. Skins and poses and shoes and hair; accessories, clothes for both gals and guys; furniture, decor and even a couple of skyboxes. The fair is for the most part a GIRL thing, at least so far. There are items for guys too, just not as many as for the gals.

More tomorrow.

Blue Hibiscus

Exploration, new duds and graphic effects -- put them together and what do you get?  This by request "arty" post. I may look sad in the photo, but in fact it is only a digital layer of rain, not even virtual. And my new board shorts have me smiling for real. They are a sneak peak from sf design.

I am pretty sure that these are the Monday Mania item for tomorrow. [Update: yes, the IM arrived (just 12 hours late) confirming this as the Monday Mania special - $25. ] The jacket from last week's special was very popular on the blogs throughout the day, so I am guessing it was a hit. These are going to be right up there with the jacket; that's my prediction anyway.

The shorts have two big pluses going for them. First of course, they are pretty -- or for the guy's version "handsome". But beyond that, they work. I can sit in my chair and type, sit on the ground and cry with no ill effects. I am sure there are poses that won't work with them, but in general they are more or less problem free. That's a thrill. The shorts come with prim bottoms and pockets and can be worn this length or longer. Matching sandals are a bonus. I added a swim top from, tinted a bit to match the blue.

My hair is one of the new guy styles called Hercules from Alli&Ali. I suspect it will look good on Chav too, so I will share. This color is the group gift for the week, others hues can be found free at the voting wall and on Xstreet as a dollarbie (2366796).

The locale? A new to me spot I found through the travel agency I featured last week, Cap Estel. It is a lovely sim with horseback riding, hiking and this cute waterfront cafe, perfect for conversations with friends.

I Really Am Listening :D

Changes are good.

Life flows, and we move most often in the direction of least resistance.

Whether you read this blog regularly or notice the posts on the feeds now and then, you probably surmised that it has been a philosophical week. Pondering leads us to new conclusions, and here are mine.

I love blogging. It is most likely impossible for me to stop. I enjoy hearing from readers and fans and new designers and other bloggers. At the same time, I feel myself slipping once again into "ad" mode. There is nothing really wrong with that  *smile*, but I have also been listening to your comments. Lots of gold stars from you for the "arty" posts. I like arty - LOL. I can play as well as the rest of the gals.

For a long time now I have only posted items that I felt good with (in). That will continue. Chav will appear from time to time as I have grown quite fond of him. Yes, there is that panting over his sexy bod which is actually "me" and yes, that is a bit confusing. But still, the guys deserve more press than they often get.

I will still post the new releases from Baubles, but that is only once a week at best, so I doubt you will even notice.

Stay tuned for a slightly different spirit on The Blog as some of my friends call it. It won't be a bumpy ride; I promise.

Templates, Creativity and a Reprise

I have had more personal IM chats over my latest "OOPS!" post than any other I can remember. Lots of folks, maybe new, maybe not, had no idea what templates were about, how to spot them and why we should or shouldn't care if they are used in designs we feature. I've chatted with new designers and other bloggers, oldtimers and folks completely out of the fashion loop. I value each conversation. I learned a lot.

So I did a search of this blog and found my original post on the subject.   I haven't reread it, but if I remember my state of mind at the time, it was depression. I was then in high blogging mode. One month I reached 100 posts. I was in effect (and now much to my dismay) writing, photographing and presenting ads for folks. Some were even demanding (yep that's the word) posts.

It all got to be too much for me and eventually I changed the way I blogged. In the process I met some wonderful oldtimer designers who knew how many hundreds and thousands of hours it took to hone their skills. I dabbled in clothes for awhile. I was never all that good and did NOT love my graphics program -- at least the parts that went beyond the "pretty picture" manipulations. So I do know how long it takes to even figure out how to get your seams to match.

I decided then that I wanted to feature the people who had done the work, put in their time, made a PERSONAL difference to our world. I have never regretted that decision. Do I have some template goods in my inventory? Yep, a few. I try not to put them in any photographs. Actually, if I knew the name of the "real" creator, I would be happy to give them some gold stars as some of the work is exceptional.

So for all those folks that were wondering and didn't want to IM me *wink*, now you know the story.

And yes, as some friends have said, it has been a philosophical week. May next week bring more pretty pictures!

Manly Liam

La Vie just released newness in the skins department. There are designs for gals too. Wonder, being a long time La Vie member received a group message and took a little stroll (guys apparently don't "hurry over" like us gals") to the complex to pick up the group skin. He suspected that I would want to see, and of course he was correct.  We TPed over to a mutual friend's house for a quick photo shoot.

The group skin is one linden from the vendor at the SLURL above. A group tag is needed, natch. This gift skin is a tough guy's version. Liam has apparently been a brawl. Should we see the other guy? Maybe not. I will say that the special effects are very nicely done. Much of the skin is of excellent quality and a vast improvement of some of the earlier La Vie skins. Hard work does reap rewards and you can tell with the skin.

There seems to be a lot working with Liam and Wonder was impressed.  I did see some seam issues in the back waist area. They are minor, but if you are picky do some self exams in that up close and personal way. I did not explore any of Wonder's nether regions so I cannot comment on seams and details in those areas *wink*.

I have never made skin, especially MALE skin, but I can imagine how difficult it could be. I have also never found a male skin that I personally thought was perfection. I have tried; I am a curious gal :D.  That being said, you might just want to pop over to La Vie and check out the new demos. You can join the group for a fee, get this skin at the gift vendor and see how you feel in it. Two tones are included in the male pack. This is the darker of the two versions.

Gals, I know nothing about the lady's release, but I am guessing you will be able to see it on the feeds soon.

Sculpted Bangles @ Baubles

I was feeling creative last eve and so I played around with some new sculpty bangles. Since people are buying them already, I decided that an official announcement might be a good thing *wink*. This fuchsia version will be the Bargain Hunter's Paradise special of the week at $25. And yes, it is already out on the board, hence the buying part.

Other colors are available at $50. These left and right bangles are resize scripted and copy only. Find them on and along side the blue BHP vendor board not far from the entrance of the newly remodeled Baubles shop.

Don't miss the mainland ocean view while you are looking around. It will most likely be a fleeting one - LOL.

Pretty Picture Morn

Sometimes you simply want to play.

Sometimes the colors and the shapes and the light inspire.

Some TIMES it all comes together.

It is the end of the month when fashion often slows, when the feeds get filled with items that  have been hiding in closets, when you look forward to something new.

I had this lovely Sophia Chaise lounge set from Second Spaces in my inventory. My plan was to take some photos in an already featured outfit but with a twist.

And then I saw myself echoing the shapes and colors of the environment and I started taking photos. I never even changed. Instead, I delved into my almost never used  photo effects window and created something new. Typically, I would call these over the top or tacky, but this morning? They were simply fun.

Perusing the feeds tonight I find that I have inadvertently featured a template item in the last few days :D. Since I took an anti template stance several months ago and have not changed my mind much, the mention was only because I hadn't seen the template in use. Whoever uses a new template first of course "seems" original. Don'tcha love it?

I'm not going to point out the item in question. It doesn't really matter. My APPLAUSE however goes to the template designer and not the person (actually more than one I see from other posts) who pasted the fabric in a layer and called it theirs.

That's the news this eve. I try to stand behind my posts. Sometimes "retractions" are a part of that.

I am not going to show you another photo of me, Chic, in Tuli's new Jade skin. I am not. I am NOT.

But it is difficult *wink*. Last night I made a new Blogger profile photo; this morning I replaced my old SL(R) profile photo with a new one a la Jade.

New skin, new eyes, new lashes, new hair -- does that make me a new person? More interestingly do the "improvements" in my avatar reflect on my real life?

I have been wondering about that the last day or so. I have come to the conclusion that they do. In some ways our avatar IS part of us, a reflection perhaps -- another layer of ourselves. So when we feel good about our avatar a bit of that translates into our real world. Even if we spend some real life money to be as pretty, unusual, flamboyant, sexy, dangerous, etc. as we can be on our screens, it is a small price for the rewards.

We can't always be what we dream of in real life, but at Phil's Place we can be anything we can imagine.

Here's to the unfolding of our heart's desires.

Minty Fresh

OoEas! just put out a new freebie at the Dominion Fashion District.  This mint version of  a soon to be released "Velvet Embrace" corset is yours for a click - well a right click and buy for $0 to be exact. Find it on a large poster right outside the store. If you love babydoll dresses, you can find a free set of those just around the corner on the wall near the main TP entry.

This is a beautifully made top with fine details and even a little prim zipper that fits on the back seam. It can act as outerwear, homewear or lingerie. Here I paired it with some panties and stocking from Insolence. So feminine.

My suitcase set and other boudoir accessories are the what next SOM gifts for May. I am guessing you have a couple more days to pick these up if you like. I clicked the update board when I purchased my new blogger office last weekend.

The corset detailing is impeccable with a light body shadow that shows off the lace. All available layers are provided so you can tuck in the lace trimmed bottom if you wish.

A very cute coffee mug comes in the what next SOM gift. It even has a heart shaped bit of cream floating on top. The prop gives a wearable cup of coffee when clicked so you can start your morning off right.

Strong coffee, a fair amount of creamy goodness and feminine attire. A perfect way to start the morn!

Jade Collage

I just finished organizing my preview packs of Tuli's new Jade skins. So for those of you who never can get enough and want to see more makeups in an up close and personal manner, here you go.  This is a 1400 pixel collage. Many tones have three eyebrow colors. Not all makeups seem to translate over between tones (thanks Nissa, I checked and no blurry eye makeup in tones 4 and 5). Three cleavage options are included. This is tone 4.

Shown with Amacci's Real Eyes in Jupiter and Allure eyelashes in black. Just another day or so until release time. Welcome Jade!

Mid Week Catch Up

Life has been busy for me of late -- not only virtual, and that my dears is a good thing. It has been a very good week for me personally. We each play our own version of this game. Mine has always included not spending much money. Instead I work my proverbial buttocks off and that suits me. This week however I did spend a bit of linden dinero. I bought my blogger office from what next. I absolutely love it and after a lot of shuffling of shop and home, Chic can now sit and type virtually as the typist sits and types at her desk.

This involved building a new shop for Baubles (larger shop, but a dozen fewer prims). I took away some items that didn't sell all that well, marked down a few things and made way for new releases in the future. I couldn't resist adding my gardening bench. Eight prims of gorgeousness with a temp rez system that truly seems to work.

The two sim airport disappeared overnight and the shop now has an ocean view. Change happens so fast here and I suspect that new neighbors will arrive fairly soon. Right now there are two sims of water with a few islandettes with palm trees. That couldn't possibly last *wink*.

My look of the day includes Tuli's new skin (be still my beating heart - I am in love), the new release hair from the A gals, and my favorite find from the Fashion Freaks Hunt (Ducknipple).

It has been a great week so far.

Tuli's Jade

Tuli's new skin line, Jade, releases Friday. Woot!

Actually that is a double Woot!  Ten makes ups, five skin tones and three cleavage options. Put them all together and you have a winner -- at least for me. How great a skin is for you depends on how well it fits. If Eva fit you well, the chances of Jade fitting even better are good.  Rather then writing  a "don't I look great in the new skin" post -- which of course is TRUE, I decided to show you the differences between Eva and Jade.   The top photo is Jade ( []::Tuli::[] Jade (tone 5/br) :: 08a to be exact).  I chose it as it is a very similar makeup to my long time favorite in Eva. This is the darkest of the five tones.

As I discovered when trying on Jade - Eva - Jade - Eva, tone 5 in Jade is not the same as tone 5 in Eva. It is in fact darker.  All photos are completely unretouched, taken at the same time and place.

Jade seems smoother to me with less contrast and a softer feel. She also seems more sophisticated. But is it the skin tone? I really needed to know that, so I opened tone 4 to find ...

...a new and improved version of my favorite skin. Noses seem to be problematic for me; they often don't fit well. Jade is close to perfect in the nose department. New makeups include two or three "natural" versions which I expect are meant to coordinate with Viewer 2 makeups. They are lovely for a younger look. Cleavage options are flat, normal and busty. Tuli used much more politically correct terms, but that's the gist of it. I went with A since I am of a boyish build.

I can't tell you more as the notecard included is completely blank. There were lots of notecard problems yesterday; the database seemed to have a tummy ache. The important news is that Jade is as lovely as can be and she releases sometime Friday.

My hair is also new as well as a group gift from Amacci. It is a new version of Adena in all the new colors. Some are knock outs! Another woot there.

Monday Mania 3

It is Monday -- a start of a new week and Mania day. My personal pick this week is a cute camo jacket from sf design. It comes with mod prim pieces including hoodie. There is a version for guys too. And be sure and pick up the great sf design exercise suit freebie before the month is over. Gals and guys versions available in their respective stores.

[hate this] has a complete skateboarders outfit including layered tee, up and down socks and sculpty shorts with side pockets - and SHOES. The prim parts are click resize so this could work for gals too.

There are two super sale items at Gaia muses - Zun Design, a sensual cuddles room and a romantic waterfall cave. They are both near the landing spot, so you can see them up close and personal. A crowd is forming as I type *wink*.

BB Colette

Blue Blood has another striking new release out. It comes with two choices of skirts or a skimpier option which I am wearing. One thing I love about Blue Blood outfits as that many parts are mix and match. Here, I  added the side ribbons from the Valeria outfit for a little extra frilly fun. Other additions not included in the set are black gloves, fishnets and the Gothic collar. Put them together and I love the look. Also new is my Carlina hair in dark rose from Alli&Ali. This is definitely my favorite hair from the A gals. I really love it.

Colette comes with some very  cute high stockings that are sure to come in handy for mashups in the future.

A White Goth version is also available.

Since TPing was problematic yesterday and appears to be that way again today, you are getting sunsets, trees and the edge of my NotSoBad skybox, my current abode.

My A-Bomb color change Ingrid ankle boots work very well with this set.

I switched to a pale version of Tuli's Eva skin for a more Gothic look.

You can see the available colors and skirt options in the official blog post here.

This great hair is a dollarbie on Xstreet.
