Know What You Don't Know

There is an audio-video investigative reporter and social commentator that I have been following for a few decades now. He is other things too, but that doesn't really matter.  A topic that repeats fairly often is "Know What You Don't Know".   That is something many people (including me at times) gloss over with their own points of view.  Sometimes it IS good to ask the question, "How Do I Think I Know This ?".

A rumor appeared on the SL Forums recently.  It isn't a new rumor and what it says doesn't matter all that much.  The immediate outcry was "impossible", "they can't do that", "ridiculous" etc.  And the question arises -- WHY do they think that?  

We all have our own points of view, wishes and expectations.  But there is often one thing we lack --- control.  We need to remember that Linden Lab is a privately held company, it doesn't even have to answer to investors  let along the populace. As real world citizens we have very little control over governmental matters.  We do get to vote and sometimes the people we elect do what they promised and follow through with what we expected them to do.  But often "politics" gets in the way and agendas shift -- not always in our favor.  

We need to remember that citizens look at issues from (generally) one direction and those in power from another.  The bottom line comes into play and making a profit is not only a goal but a necessity.   As I have ALWAYS said, it is their platform and their rules.  We can stay or we can go.  But Linden Lab is the only one who REALLY knows the plans for the future.  We can only wait and see.

Population is still going down -- not new news.

The Linden dollar has been devalued -- so for creators it may "seem" like sales are better but the bottom line (for me anyway) has  sales about even with last year when you consider conversion rate turning lindens into USD.

There are apparently somewhere near a billion (with a "B") linden dollars waiting for market sales.  

The original Linden homes are STILL on the grid with some being used - never decommissioned as announced.  HMMMM. 

DASH FOR CASH (mobile app marketing) did NOT go well with many folks not getting their lindens and several forum threads.  [Out for over half a day but in theory missed payments will be sent.]
