Aether Sentinel

And a fun morning was had by all!

A mix of landscape decor and pose prop, the new Dirty Rat - Aether Sentinel pokes at your imagination.  Find it at this month's round of Enchantment.

From the notecard:

An abandoned, uniquely atmospheric scene unfolds: an old floating road segment covered in cobblestones. Despite the wear of time, the cobblestone path still retains its venerable charm, bearing the marks of ages gone by. Scattered debris lies around it, as if forgotten objects of the past have found their way here to evoke memories.

At the heart of the scene stands an old, steampunk-style street lamp, which has gazed upon this small slice of eternity for decades. Crafted from iron and bronze parts, the lamp's slender design and delicate embellishments dignify the memory of yesteryears. Though it hasn't served its original function in a long time, it still watches over its surroundings, illuminating both the past and the present. The historical ambiance of the lamp seamlessly merges with the surrounding area, creating a magical and melancholic image of a place lost in time

The  mysterious sentinel is finally detailed.

The above photos were taken in the newest Firestorm (non-PBR viewer).  Since there is a NOTE!! in the product notecard, I felt I needed to be fair ^^.

!!! NOTE : To accurately visualize the object, the use of the new PBR viewer is essential. This advanced viewer employs Physically Based Rendering (PBR) techniques, ensuring a more realistic and visually appealing representation of the subject. To enhance your experience and achieve optimal results, it is strongly recommended to use the updated new Second Life viewer.

Personally I don't agree, but that doesn't matter. It is up to each purchaser to view the item with their viewer of choice (still well over half of us are on non-PBR viewers ).  Some folks like the look of PBR, others do not. Some are willing to deal with the Linden viewers -- other are not :D. The Firestorm devs have stated that they will not update their viewer (most used in SL) until they feel the PBR issues are resolved (presumably by either LL or FS).  It has been four and a half months since the last release.

So I went over to my old time sandbox and chose a Linden default sky that was available in both viewers under the day cycle.  I am including them here.  You can enlarge to see the photos more clearly.  There ARE differences, but ... :D

As with the the changes with Windlight, EEP, materials (normal maps and specular) etc., objects look very differently depending on lighting choices. So as we move into yet another new era it will take some time for folks to adjust and find a light that they are happy with.  Items that are not PBR still for the most part look good and even better under the new viewer parameters so that's good news.

It is important to note that since the FS viewer doesn't see PBR yet, it is seeing the legacy textures that were (happily) put in place by the creator.  Personally I think this new release works nicely without a PBR viewer.

BOTH texturing methods are included in the pack.

Poses by: the lamppost :D
