We didn't have a ton of money as I was growing up. Simple things became entertainment. At Christmas time my mother would buy cloves and an orange and I would oh so carefully push the whole cloves into the orange in a neat patterned manner. When the orange was filled with the sharp aroma of cloves it was put aside and became a popori. Amazingly I remember it lasting for a very long time.
