New York State of Mind

Evening sets--

And my memories wander back to you --

The streets seem empty without your hand in mine --

Places once filled with laughter hold only sadness and regrets --

I miss you.

BACKSTORY:

These boots arrived a few days ago. Very CUTE boots. Short and sassy boots. I didn't have any new outfits to compliment these cuties, but I did have a new spot I wanted to explore; a great city, New York. These are definitely city girl boots. They are lethal in oh so many ways *wink*. So I put together a simple outfit, something the typist would wear in real life if she had Chic's figure and panache, and journeyed over to Staten Island and Old New York. The boots come in several colors and demos are available.
The two sim complex is impressive, the premium glass walled highrise lofts definitely somewhere I would like to hang my hat. And there are PEOPLE here (gasp). I actually had to be patient in some cases to get photos without unknown models in the background. Photo ops abound and locales blend into one another nicely. There are a few visual aches. Not the flop houses or the grunge; those are part of the atmosphere. There are tons (and I do mean tons) of giant Thank you for the Halloween Party posters around the sims. There are so many, you can't escape them. A couple of nice billboards would have done the job and kept the theme of the sim -- just my opinion. The other issue for me is floating text from commercial buildings flowing into the street. We all know how ugly that can be and it is particularly jarring in a themed sim.

One more slightly problematic issue is that renting a place is an adventure. It's not likely you'll find the premium spots available. If you want one, I'm guessing a stalking program will be in order. There is a rental board in each sim with green dots for available places.  There is also a click through visual photo board with prices and prim rentals. This is not a cheap place to live; neither is New York. I have no idea what the fancy places rent for; they were all full. I'm guessing a lot :D.

Here is the important part on renting. If you are looking for a residential spot, you need to find it on the map and then TP CLOSE BY. If you actually try and go to the location that the map shows, you get sent home. After about seven tries, I gave up. This is not a friendly method, but if you find the empty apartment and the rental boxes (they are in different spots depending on the sim and the building) you can pay and the spot is yours. Whew! See, your mother told you that you would need those camming skills some day.

Those boots look a whole bunch like the Kitties Lair London Boots released last December. If you are curious you can check out my post on them here: http://yourtoes.blogspot.com/2008/12/stylecard-kitties-lair-london-boots.html.

Great NY pics :)

Agree they are similar :D, but we could say that about 30 percent of the goods on the feeds. Thanks for the post. Appreciate it :D.

I enjoyed Old NY a lot. Sure I'll be journeying back.

Sorry for the nasty icon seen with this post. Nothing I can do to change it seems.
